Disclaimer: The following is not a complaint, not a rant, and I'm not venting. If you reply like I am, it's your problem not mine This is an OBSERVATION, and my luck in a nutshell.

Okay, we all know that high end should mean awesome stats. I'm using the term here for things I do not see drop often for me, and of course they have goofy stats.

Example:

Gold Celestial sheild, (okay so far) +16 armor (awesome max protection) Requires 9 Strength (bonus, most sheilds I loot are tactics) and +10 armor vs Ogres..OGRES???? Are their even Ogres on Cantha??? I swear I will always loot desirable items with goofy stats.

What was your neatest, looted item, with goofy stats?

One chest I opened in the "closer to the Stars" mission got me a Celestial Staff of Water Magic with a req.7 in Fire Magic and gave a +1 Water Magic (19%). *scratches head*

And since we're talking about strange stuff about drops, I had a Sundering Celestial Hammer (I still have it). One day I get a gold hammer as a drop, I ID it to be a Hammer of Fortitude +30. Putting the Axe grip of Fortitude on the Celestial hammer would certainly raise it's value. From the Hammer of Fortitude I salvaged... 21 wood planks.

haha yeah i hate when that happens, but i guess its still cool to have the variety. Someone who enjoys destroying Yeti, or just farming them would love to have a sheild like that.
Just really makes it harder to sell more than anything else when you get items like that =/

oh i agree, i can't stand those...I found a nice powerful low req firestaff yesterday and the mods on it were for a mesmer skill >_<~

i was using up a few keys i had lying about and only not one gold from about ten chests (usual for me...). Was an embossed aegis and the only stat on it was reduces deepwound, sigh. The purple shields I got were better.

LOL I just got Platinum (gold) Staff of dragon slaying. 9-16 dmg, req5 DM, 1/2 skill recharge 10%, Energy +8, and dmg:14% vs dragons.. LOL I gave it to a level 8 necro. He/she can use it more thanI can use the 80 gold the merchant would give me. Slick looking staff at anyrate.

ive labeled it the "axe of shame."

I think my weirdest drop was a req. 8 fire magic, 20% HSR Healing, 20% HCT Domination with a wrapping of +1 curses (20%) (and of course some other mod that wasn't at all good, so that's the one it salvaged into).

The general rule is that 99.99% of high-end drops will suck.
Examples:
Req 8 Ironwing Bow. Only mod was +19% vs Dragons.
Req 8 str Zodiac Shield +7AL vs Earth Damage.
Req 8 Oni Blade 15% vs hexed foes.
Req 8 Zodiac Daggers. No damage mod, only +5 armor.
Req 8 str Eternal Shield +1 to Divine Favor (19%)

Yeah, I found me some Gold daggers yesterday. Max damage, but +1 dagger mastery (19%) - COME ON!! Just round it up to 20%! I don't think I have ever had a perfect drop!

Personally, I like the "Staff Wrapping of Pruning" - Makes me laugh EVERY TIME! +X% Dmg vs Plants! Since neither me nor my brother had a staff wrapping of death magic for my new necro, I decided to go for pruning for a laugh - time to farm in Pongmei Valley methinks!!

Me too. I can't even give these things away. This thread has made me really laugh. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that gets these crazy drops. You know, with some of the stats, the devs must have been working some looonnng hours. I can only imagine them working late one night, howling with laughter as they come up with some of these weapons. "Hey, I got one! Let's make this perfect axe with Req. 13 Inspiration Magic. LOL!"*

I feel for you on that crystalline dude.

I've gotten my fair share of triple-attribute mods, especially with high-end skins, in such combinations as fast casting req 13, +1 to Divine Favor (20%) and 20% of faster recharge of Air Magic skills, things like that. I think those oddities debuted at Sorrow's Furnace, at least that's where I started seeing them drop.

And yes, i find it weird that high-end chests can give such crap items... especially the ones where you have to pay 1.5k a key
