Why are ingame traders so stupid?

Check one of my other posts out. I didn't want to repeat post so I made it a link. Please read it carefully as if you just scan over it, you may miss the actual meaning of the sentence or pragraph.

I know about unid items, I just got the impression since he always advertises it in the same way, one for 3.5k or 7 for 24k (it's the same text for months), but you might be right.

what annoys me is people that say "no reply=pass" atleast have the courtesy to throw out a "no tnx"

ya know what i think? If you are trying to sell something, put a price you want to sell it for. WTS SSAKIS SWORD 15k, if you just put wts ssakis sword, and someone whispers you, dont say offer say 15k. I will not offer on items, unless they are highend where many people want them. There are prices for all these lowend greens and lowend items. PROVIDE A PRICE. I hate when i whisper people about prices on itesm they are selling and they give me, "offer" i say RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO you asshole, give a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing price, this isnt an auction. You never read it all, do ya? I did give them price and this is when things get worse. Today I had this thing going on : I'm selling Milthuran's staff @ LA and I advertise giving a price of 10k. I get whisped "can I see it?"... yes, I showed it and the guy asked me if that was my final price. I said that it is my starting price. Than he said "can be 7k?", I replied - "hmm 9k", expecting they guy to say 8 and call it a deal. Well he said - "no ty". Than i got pretty pissed off and said "you could have just said 8 and it'd be ok", and he said "8 is ok".... O_____O ... people don't know how to bargain - that is the truth. Unless I hand the item up their... faces, they won't even try to offer their own price...

haggling is a lost art...

yea trading in game is just annoying...always with the spam, annoying as hell when you're trying to have a damn conversation with either a friend or a guy buying unless you have to go to filters. but every time i try to sell i get that, i give the price in my post, people ask how much, they say wow i dont have that much, give me terrible items they got from doing their quests...and of course that repeats for about an hour until some one learns to read...


and yes, haggling really is a lost art lol, but there are those penny pinchers who haggle until you end up getting exactly half of your offer and their offer....20k, 10k, 15k, 12.5k, so on until you give up...

Yeah that's what I'm talking about, most ppl don't haggle at all. But when they do- they have 90% chance to get what they want at their price, or close to their price. And then again there are sellers who won't haggle - they stick to their funny exaggerated prices and don't give up.

I haven't had any real crazy experiences like some of you had, but I get stuff like this all the time (this particular instance was yesterday):

Me: (In Ventari's Refuge) WTB Totem Axe
Him: Alright, make an offer.
Me: Ok, 4k (assuming they are going to say 5k)
Him: LMAO, they go for 12k
Me: Um... no
Him: alright, make a new offer
Me: Ok, fine, 5k!
Him: Don't be dumb (oh the irony )
*I go to other destinations like Forge/LA with no luck, and come back to Ventari's*
Me: WTB Totem Axe
Him: I have a bunch, is 5k ok?
Me: Sure!

Some people... I literally laughed at the "Don't be dumb" comment

I don't mean to be offensive by this but I hate when people discriminate by age like this. Sure, with age comes wisdom but I'm 15 and I have a great understanding of marketing, economics, and business in general. I know that, to most people around that age range, a "concept of trading" is void but there are many exceptions.

well put it in the way that, when u come across someone like the other situations along with my small one (i dont even bother selling shit half the time)

chances are they ARE 10-15. its just a fact. its good you are not like that.

Still, wouldn't it be more logical to just say:
"Wow, that guy sure was a ####### ### #####.

Instead of going "Wow, that 10 year old kid sure was a ####### ### #####." I mean, what, does it make you more superior if you are older than someone?

You have to remember that most of these kids really... are kids. And if you guys can understand the concept of this game, the MAJORITY of kids can't. And they do not realise that doing to shit to someone is actually wrong, not fun...

I know and completly agree with you on that but I'm just saying that it's annoying when people think everyone in a said age group is (insert choice insult here), discriminate against the person themselves, not any group they may belong to without choice.

The only things ive really sold in game has been Sskais sword and a couple of Totem axes. Selling Sskais sword usually goes like this:

Me: WTS Sskais Sword 15k
Player: Can I see it?
Me: Ok
player1: How much?
Me 15k
player: opens up trade window puts up really crappy gold or horrible upgrades
Me: cancels trade and asks 15k?
player: why you cancel you dont want?
Me: If I would have wanted to trade it for items I would have put WTT Sskais for xxx and not a flat rate cash offer.
player: 5k?
Me no response switch districts or town..........Sellin Sskais Sword 10k...

Such a freakin hassle sometimes I dont even go after his sword anymore unless im bored and glutton for punishment trying to sell it.

what is up with peoples who want to trade you crappy items or lowball you in game now a day?

Um, trading isnt giving the seller whatever price they want. I might sell an item for 50k if i had it but if Im buying it that doesnt mean I have to pay that much, I could try and get it for 35k if I wanted. Thats smart trading. If I could get it for 35k it wouldnt make sense to buy it for 50k now would it?

I know how you feel . Admittedly I'm not good on GW prices, but before I buy anything I do a bit of background checking to get a feel for what the item I want is worth. Then I either buy it or wait til the prices drop. People who say "offer" really bug me, and if I ask them roughly what price they're asking for it they don't respond or repeat "offer" .

Yesterday I had to get a Kaolin Water Staff. All I had in me was some crappy 8k. So eventually my luck turned out to be good - sold brohn's staff to a completely random guy, who I accidently saw saying that he want it, and I thought - whatever, I'd say 22k to give it ago - there it goes, he said ok and bough it. Later I was figuring out how to find more cash and eventually I decided to sell some crappy old greens. Sold Yakslapper + Wroths holy rod @ 15 both... I was pretty amazed that prices can go up like this for items that noone is really looking for. However, I went back to "buying kaolin water staff" spaming and in 1 or 2 hours, as I was switching between all the districts, it turned out that I have been in the Italian one too. So a guy says "I have it"... OKay, I offered him 30k. He told me that he wants to ask his friend about it, I said ok and waited. Well, his friend wasn't there. So I told him that I really want that staff ASAP and that I offer him 35k. Than he called me in the monastery and guess what, after ~30mins spent talking with the guy he puts a Kaolin Rit Wand in the trade window. Of course with a -_- on my face I took off and soon after that I found some guy whose price was 30k. Even though it took me loong time to find it I was happy at the end. But really, you should at least know what your selling, right?
