There are some hit or misses with the voices but I do like them and would miss it they removed the voice's from future campaigns.
Please don't add voice acting /cut scenes...

I agree that the cut scenes are pretty crappy, but I would rather have them than not. The cut scenes are really the main appeal to me for the PvE aspect of the game, as it actually contains a story. Good or bad, it's still a story where I feel something is actually happening in the game. That's a big hollow in most other MMOs, as it just seems like constant grind between character bubbles that also have no content.

Anyway. The voice acting is terrible, the storyline is great, though! I hope it isnt like the envoys.. =S "LET US WORRY ABOUT SHIRO." So much enthusiasm! ![]() |
Let me put it this way. I'd rather read a MILLION text bubbles, then EVER be subjected to Danika screeching through my speaker system and tearing giant gaping holes in my ear drums.
I think every time someone listens to a Guild Wars voiceover... a small fuzzy kitten somewhere is murdered viciously with a baseball bat.
I for one would also like to see more CGI cutscenes, and less terribly scripted in-game movies. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a guild wars cutscene do something quirky or unrealistic, or buggy. The game engine is not suited for cutscenes or dramatic elements of any kind, because you're constantly being dragged out of immersion by all-too familiar graphics and scripts that you've seen a million times before.
the irony here is that Guild Wars has some amazing CGI trailers and cutscenes, and yet they won't release more of them.

I agree that the cutscenes are horrible.
But the OP should learn something. If you make a thread about your opinion about something, you can't expect or force everyone to agree with you. You're making yourself look like a jerk...even if your original post had some valid points.
EDIT: Also, rather than cutscenes, I'd rather see "ingame cutscene" events occur. As in, rather than have a cinematic, make the event occur within the game's engine with dialogue balloons and subtitles at the bottom.

Fire does damn in game cut scene dudes... fire the voice over dudes...
and lets make some CGI cinematics.
GWP and GWF both had an 1-2 minute opening. Nightfall probably also will... what about a long CGI ending?
what about just trying to make chat bubbles more readable in game and just scrap cut scenes? perhaps add in game voice acting?

Now that we got that out of the way. Listen to me and listen to me well. For every piece of shit you post, i will attack your post. For every conjecture, for every opinion for every assumption. The next time you even think of typing "We can assume..." expect me to come-a-knockin. This is NOT a personal attack. This is an attack on how you post. You need to post your opinions as opinions. You need to post your generalizations as generalizations based on your own bias and sampled experience. Your word is not fact. Your word is not law. My word is not fact. My word is not law. I welcome you to the forums and i respect you for speaking your opinions. But remember, YOU DO NOT WORK FOR ANET. I DO NOT WORK FOR ANET. We dont know what they are thinking or doing unless they tell us, and even then, take it with a grain of salt. I dont wanna hear any more "my word is fact" style posting. That is why i went off on you. Im a philosopher, i was in the debate team and i LOVE to argue. So when you argue and debate the wrong way, it really irks me. |

Plus I like the crappy cinematics. They sucked in Prophecies and they suck more in Factions.
They're the best thing to MS3k too when you're on teamspeak with your buddy's cause there's always someone who never skips.
Plus I could care less about the story in GW, i never read all the pop-ups or quest windows. And I PvE alot. But I play a game to play it, if I wanted to read I'd find a book.
Personally i feel GWP's cutscences were by far superior to GWF's and the voice acting really dropped the ball in factions, it made me laugh the first time mostly watching them and more and more frustrated each time i had to watch it again bringing my characters through factions.
I wont say to drop it completely but it can be improved and a well thoughout cutscene can both tell the story and also provide the immersion feel into the gameworld, despite what some pple say about Prince Rurik, his appearance in the cut scenes in the earilier missions and voice acting was very well done and provided me with a true sense of immersion and made me feel that my involvement in the mission and story truely meant something....factions cutscenes fall short with lack of immersion and very very bad voice acting.
Off topic: Please stop attacking other members of the forums specifically with your post(An "Elite" fansite doesnt need to be taken literally)even though their views maybe somewhat negative and bias but feel free to point it out and offer corrections.

You cant just do that with the skipping to the new location without your team. What about the missions where cutscenes happen mid mission (Fire Isles, Hatchery, ext...). There are a ton like that. Having an option to review your cutscenes would please thouse people that wont skip because they want to watch it.

Yeah, a "Review cutscene" feature would help.
I never miss a cutscene first time through, and often watch them again just because I forget them.
That being said, they won't go away and will not likely see a great degree of improvement because they don't need it. Granted, it's not like watching Lord of the Rings, but for the game; the continuation, it's good enough.
