do u think the luring mobs to chest will apply to the wardens as well?

You can also easily farm chests in Unwaking waters explorable near Merki the reaver, 1 chest is there most the time but lately it's been a purple dropping spree for me XD
[6 purples in a row from that chest is no fun...]
didn't find a jade sword yet, but did find 15%>50 and a 15% stance jade hammers... just hoping for that sword now.

never tried wardens if they are the ones dropping the hunt shield ... yes, luring them to a chest be4 opening will result in warden material = higher chances to drop that shield

I found my golden Jade Sword today while chest running... but NOT from a chest, and NOT from Outcasts either. A Rot Wallow dropped it for me. (THe sword isn't very good, being req 10 and only having 1 mod (+15 dmg in stance))

I got a jade sword yesterday finally after a bunch of runs in Rhea's Crater. From a chest.

jade axe sure is a rare drop. but apparently people dont like the skin much and theres not much of a market for it. Also, i dont think anyone would want to buy a 20% while hexed req 10 jade axe :P


edit: theres only so many zones in kurz and luxon land with that many characters. im a work so i really cant consult a map (i think), but my frst guess... melandrus ...? everyone knows that though so there wudnt be any point in hiding it. btw... a melandru run takes 3-4 mins and u usually see 4 chests per run. Thats about 60-80 chests an hour, which someone in this thread mentioned was not possible. I do find luxon areas a bit harder to run with chests placed much further apart. Takes me about 1.5 times as much time as kurzick chest running does (40-50 chests an hour Max!) I have a question for G Ac or anyone else here. Does chest running the same area repeatedly worsen the drop rate? a lot of times my first two runs have been 50% droprates gold and 3rd 33% and 4th run being a full grape run. When i switch zones i get 50% again. Is that grape run in middle just my imagination or does the farm code really kick in 3-4 runs in.

I think what they're gonna try to do is make people decide between getting double faction points or get the new weapons. Remember, "You can't have your cake and eat it too."

My lucky day.. Havent i'd it yet. Dont wanna spoil the moment.

The new items will stay there has been no indication that is an event specific thing... the dbl factions however will end this weekend

so while most of you have been going googly over the new items which are here to stay, the smart people have been faction farming and will wait till the event is over to farm the new rares...

ALSO: the idea that the mobs surrounding chests affect what drops out of them is comletely coincidental.... I oni farm on a daily basis before and during this event there is ALWAYS at least 1 chest among the popup onis where i farm and I get all assortments of items... the mobs themselves though have thier own rare item drop... aka onis never drop jade daggers they always drop oni daggers the sometimes drop oni blades... the chest arround them drop anything specific to that area... jade items (yes even jade swords) as a mater of fact of the 200+ chests on my oni runs that i have hit NONE have been oni daggers (a common rare that oni's drop)

I also have gotten jade swords from chests miles away from any outcasts... the new items are location specific for chests and mob specific for drops...

i opened more then 8000 chests and developed this theory a lot more deeply than i posted here. there's truly no doubt that is correct. u just have understood it badly:

just a few points.

- in a given map, chests can drop the equipment related to the foes that spawn in the map.
Example: Arcipelagos - chests can drop oni equipment, naga equipment, wallow and trees equipment, etc. u open a chest there, u can't have dredge or warrens only drops, guess i't pretty obvious.
- luring foes near a chest result in higher chances of drop that foes related equipment from the chest u're about to open. doesnt mean every single chest opened this way will be an oni chest if u lure onis. simply oni equipment drop a lot more often then in lone chests, in which the global % of the area applies.

example really really clear is silent surf. the chances to drop plague items in the jade sea are nearly 0%. i personaly never found a single plague item from chests spawned in the jade sea... but in silent surf there's a nice hill with assassin construct and a nice group of afflicted... sometimes a chest spawns there. try it yourself, go there and see how many times u find plague items, only from that given chest, no other chest will ever drop plague items there. try it.
even better. lure that group of afflicted away, and kill them, then lure a group of leviathans or outcasts on that hill. tadaah, pretty magically that chest doesn't drop plague items anymore.

i tracked statistics about this chests behaviour, more then sure of what i say.
already writing a community work project i'll publish when i reach max tier for chestrunner title, u'll see how useful this is

Hi, if you don't mind me asking, have the 8000 odd chests you have opened payed for themelves? As in, do you think you have profited from the drops vs price of keys?

always answered this anywhere ppl asked or ingame. a lot, huge lot.

Short term chest running is not profitable unless you get super lucky. But if you keep at it, eventually you'll find that rare treasure you can sell for more than the cost of your keys. So long term, like Guin said, chest running can be quite profitable.

That's what the last batch was, but that was only a few of them. These will probably be more. Please be MINE!

Finally read through the thread... sigh, no sign of mine... I entered a design for each type of weapon and I don't know which got me into the runner ups, but I think it was either my sword or bow...

@Guinevere... like i said area specific... those items do drop from any of the chests in that map location whether or not they where lured to any chest or not... i spoke from a single reference of my current favorite casual farming place... (onis lvl 28 mobs drop some nice crap better than any of the mobs in other areas i have encounted other than the deep) i am a very observant player... and yet i still do not buy into your theory and for that i appologize, i believe that you are reading way to far into things... i have gotten those drops before and after slaying those mobs you are talking about in cest on the other side of that "map area" i have observed that the items ARE area specific.... just as in Breaker Hollow near onis have a tendancy to drop oni blades near the yettis they have the same chance to drop oni blades (yetti's are located on the western side of the map near aspenwood yet all the onis are on the east side of the map near breaker hollow) i have not however noticed oni blades drop from chests in other map areas that did not have onis in the map area somewhere... i still think you are misinterpretting.... i dont believe at all the mob near the chest increses any chance in what that chest is going to drop but rather what mobs are in the map area does affect what the chests tend to drop as far as rare items go... every area with lux chests always seems to have jade wands and crap like tht.. also this observation has been confirmed with gayla hatchery explorable... from leviathan pits there are outcast and them jelly things all over and even the chests near nagas drops rare jellyfish wands and jade swords even had an oni blde drop from chests near the outcasts in that area...


anyways... to answer the question of profit also... yea chest running can be profitble by extreme if you know what mods and items are sought after... 60% of the items you get may be non mxa items and look like they are merchant bait but hey there are some max mods on them salvage mods... even mods typically sell for at least 1k... soem of the nicer mods sell for up to 50k its easy to find defence mods insightfll mods etc in abundance in these areas and they all typically 2k mods... heck of a lot better than 200-300gp from vendors and a 2k mod buys 3 more keys...

i can go through over 100k in keys a day and fill the inventory of 2-3 characters with mods and items that typically can turn dbl profit... but its about then haveing to take the time to sell the items/mods...

Guinevere AC: you are right on, IMO, about increased chances of mob specific items dropping from chests that are close.
I believe there is always a chance that area specific item can also drop, but I have found that the "living" mob closest to the chest alters the drop table.
The proof is in the pudding, so to speak, I used this technique to get the first Jade Sword reported here at Guru.

I have opened almost 4000 chests myself and have seen this time and time again. Thanks for sharing this observation to those who are not hardcore chest runners.

Yes, long term chest running has made me lots of gold, however, i may open 100 chests and get nothing worth taking the time to sell.

BTW: Guinevere AC, isn't the title KOABD(1) not KOBD(1)? as I haven't reached 5 max titles I can't be positive on this.

The style of the weapon clearly says it's from the same place as the golden hammer (Ratsu Palace or whatever)
