Too many events

Next weekend event should be "Double your fun! Bosses deal double damage!"
That would so own.
Don't need no PvP events or any silly double drop PvE events.
Double dmg from bosses, infact, all mobs would put the icing on the weekend event cake.

I think that's silly... they are events and that add something different... good or bad.. it's something and it comes and then it goes away.. so if you have to deal.. while others enjoy... so be it.

Doing one doesn't necessarily exclude the other. |

quit your bitching....you dont like the events, DON'T PARTICIPATE IN THEM.
let others enjoy them.

think mad king will show up this year?

I like events as much as the next person but they're getting pathetic now.
Didn't need a bunch of shitty events to keep people interested in Prophecies until Factions came out. Just because they made a sub-par 'stand alone' game doesn't mean they need to keep filling space with random events. I'd prefer adding some decent content (for the record, adding random new greens or skins isn't decent content). Sorrows Furnace, an entire new area compared to... chest run weekend and leecher weekend.

Proof that people will find a way to complain about anything/everything

I sure am getting tired of the "A new Guild Wars is available, please exit the program... blah blah crap every time I enter a town. And I'm getting REALLY tired of constantly downloading files every time I want to log on a play.

This thread is fast becoming a flamefest. Get back on topic or I will close it.

Yes ANet stop giving us something to do!

The "special event" weekends are just A-net's way of trying to keep people playing the game until the next chapter. I've already noticed a considerable drop in interest .... much faster than after the release of the original Prophecies. Factions just doesn't seem to offer enough to keep everyone's interest. Guess they are afraid too many people will go play WoW and forget about GW.

Constant events may seem good to some of you, but other people want to just have a plain weekend. One of the biggest issues I have is that, if I try to ignore the event, it's not made very easy. Large masses of people will flood into areas for the event, and completely ignore normal areas. I might have wanted to do Thunderhead Keep or Raisu Palace this weekend, but I can't because most people are doing the event, and many of the people left aren't good enough. |
The events are actually done by a seperate team from the others, so they don't loose anyone from other projects. The thing is, they are doing events so much that the ones they turn out are getting to be lower and lower quality.
About the enconomical impact of events, I have stated this before; I DON'T CARE. I have all the items I really want and so I couldn't care any less whether that rare skinned sword is worth 100k or 1k.
If you just read my quote, it will clarify anything else.
Also, can I request an Admin to alter the thread title. I'm not sure what would be good, but clearly the current name is confusing people.

I enjoy the events and would love to see them continue weekly until the next Chapter is released.

these events are bound to end with kids going back to school anyway. i dont imagine they'll continue after summer.

Won't comment on OP.
One event every two weeks would be great. Also give them time to ensure no bugs are added. Also having events for both chapters (and future ones of course) would be nice.

Only issues I have is the prices of everything have dropped alot. Now really I don't care that poor players can actually afford something for once, but seriously when I try to sell an item that used to go for an easy 30k and I'm having issues trying to find someone to take it for 10k.... Just saying I don't mind prices going down every so often but double drops and then double chest drops, and now double alliance faction (jade and amber shortage anyone? /sarcasm) have offset everything to the point of ridiculous. One a month would suite me just fine but alas I'm not everyone and what suites me isn't always best apparently :P
Phantom Gun
yeah seriously there are good things to some of these. Take for example the jade quarry. With this last weekend event it is actually active. Before you would have to travel and ask/taunt people into fighting there. I like the events even though I may not always stick with one for to long.
Plushie Penguin
maybe one event per month... I havn't done any of the events because I knew all the idiots were making places renamed to spam-a-lot and the like
Sure some events were good compaired to others, but the chance of having to put up with crap is too high for every weekend(>_<)

I would rather see 2 events per month than 4 events per month.
When you play in a niche area, it really kills the place. My tiny alliance "takes care of" Jade Quarry, but we haven't been able to play the past 4+ weekends (instead, being restricted to weekdays) because the few people that would normally show up to play have all gone off to do the events. Now this weekend's event has absolutely destroyed our area by bringing in too much new blood that floods the chat log with "OMG, stupid suxons" or "everyone hit enter now" or "OMG, I've been waiting for 10 minutes!", when before the friendly conversation would drown out most of that sort of thing. It's not that I want to keep the area just for an elite few, I want to see all the griefers and other inconsiderate pricks that came just for the special weekend gone.
I'd rather see a great event like the snowball fights once every other month that last 1-2 weeks than a bunch of useless "double" weekends every month like we seem to be having now.

Events are fine if their effects are there to stay but since it is offered only during the weekends, there are usually a huge pool of players drawn towards them away from some of the more demanding missions like Sunjiang and unwaking waters which are virtual ghost towns at times before these events and worse after...

To keep it short: I can only be positive about events. It gives me the feeling anet is going 110% for this product. Halloween and x-mas were great. Had a lot of fun in the double fun weekend. I'm not in the pvp stuff at the moment, but no one forces me to participate in a pvp event.

Nightfall preview weekend was awesome.
Didn't do much of the PvP weekend but it brought out a lot of players, many of whom were usually PvE only players. The exposure certainly can't hurt.
The Elite weekend was fun as there was no problem finding a group. The greater number of players also meant there were more TS/Vent groups for those that don't like disorganized pugs.
I'm really liking this weekend too (Aspenwood/Quarry). I've always wanted to try different builds (outside of my 5 PvE chars) in those missions.
Overall, these weekend events are a nice addition. They bring out more players, which usually means more fun.
Given the fairly short content of Factions, these events are a smart move on Anet's part.
