i dont quite remember but werent the bosses special abilities in cantha(ie the bosses having **half hexes in tyria) that they did 1 and a half damage or something?????
2x more damage for being a boss, and up to 50% more damage for levels above 20, for a combined total of x3 damage. Then, toss on a x2 casting speed, and bosses can be a real terror.

NPC's have also gotten much better at timing their attacks to spike out opponents.

They're not impossible, but it's certainly a real pain to deal with at times.

There's an ele boss that has like a 500 damage lightning orb. It's annoying.

Oh, how i hate this.
The single hit bossmobs and the Spike AI at the same time. One moment everything goes fine and then all of a sudden your screen is filled by almost two lines of damage and you're dead with a big "wtf" over your head.

And the bossmobs are a serious problem for henchies. Sure a player could just bring a Ritu Lord Spammer or a Protective Spirit Monk but unless you'll ask your guild for every other Skillcap there just is no such option most of the time.
Places this is especially bad are in Morastov Trail, near the Warrior Boss and it's even worse in the exploreable Area of the Tannakai Temple back where all the Jades are. When i was exploring i grew frustrated real quick. From being chain nuked to spiked - the insanely large mobs there are more of a challenge than the Elitemissions and the old Favor Realms combined...

Other than hating that the AI will switch targets that can be killed instantly with Obsidian Flame (which pisses me off a bit) and the game itself actually cheating (throwing you back through a doorway and adding mobs there so you can't pass through what you JUST ran through...esp in chest runs...and don't freakin tell me it's lag...the mobs are rubberbanding from behind me to in front of me on a regular, predictable basis...*ahem* but I digress....) the most odd damage I've been hit for is -174 from Determined shot of all things...I've used it and NEVER even come close to that vs. similarly levelled mobs...face it...the game cheats...it sees a loophole in the constraints of its own code and exploits it to win...can't blame it really...been exploited itself a time or two (even by me---gates in the dessert ring any bells?)

If you Hate Devona then you can go to Tah. Temple to the StarBurst Bound Ele Boss and watch as she drops So fast to his Sliver Armour that you'd swear a rank12+ HA group just Spiked her. He starts with like ~200dmg Starburst, and his 50+ dmg per hit Sliver Armour finishes you off lol.

Ele bosses in Cantha are funny hard, to a point some of them were nerfed dmg wise in updates lol.

I've seen the AI spiking people now, and I didn't used to see it. Maybe it's just because they all have the same algorithm for deciding who to attack, but frequently they'll all change targets at the same time, and deal over 1000 damage to someone, and the monks are left in disbelief, because that person had been in no danger 1 second ago.

PvP tactics in an PvE environment. I have been spiked by shadowstepping assassins many times. You get used by it. While you are busy dealing with skill delays and lag, they beat the shit out of you in a godly manner. In the mean time making henchmen looking more and more retarded, because they have a silly and slow human to lead them.

The only time I got 100% obliterated by insane amounts of damage, was when I was doing the boreas seabed mission in a dragon mask. I forgot I had it on. Argo and his ele friends all instantly targeted me with mind burn. Cos mind burn hits you in the head, and i had no armour protecting my head, I took about 423 damage 4 times over with 7 secs burning on me. >_<

No matter what you post, sooner or later some random PVP Guy comes along and tries to act superior. Here is your sign.

It was a comment on the similarities between PvP and Factions PvE, which is a good thing. I haven't even attempted to be arrogant.

All tyrian bosses have half hex and condition duration, in cantha, shiro has that and I think.. one or two other bosses. Most of them have full duration of hexes

A good Mesmer can stop Dragon Stomp from killing you. An experienced Mesmer will know about high damage bosses in the upcoming area and stop their super damage skill from happening. Try making a group with shutdown instead of just adding another Warrior or Monk.

Even with hench groups, the option to bring a Domination or Interupt Hench is available in most of the places interupts are needed. The Illusion hench does alright in the places where you can't get these guys.

Nope, it was one hit and no armor was missing. I looked as I tried to figure it out myself. I'm actually not sure what really hit me to be honest. Just a red 1024 rolled slowly up and I croaked.
I do not think it was a warden, but I was in that area. /shrug

I've had some really wierd things happen lately though. Have screen shots of these. While exploring, I started taking damage from wardens, yet no wardens were anywhere near me. None. All the henchies died while I tried to figure out what was hitting me. Eventually I started to run and go to where there was no red dots anywhere on the radar... still, I was getting hit and eventually dropped dead. Like I said, I have screen shots of those if anyone is curious. Was great for another laugh.

I also know someone who got slapped by a warrior (warden warrior boss outside of Academy) for over 600 points. Max armor, all pieces, playing an assassin (I had to tease him about that). They got a screen shot of that as well. My guess, a nasty critical hit now and then is what it is, but it's enough to make you cringe when it happens.

Edit: For the orginal post, when I said Wardens were around, I hadn't aggro'd them. So I really wasn't sure if it was them, or what it was that nuked me. So adding to what Kitty says below, it could have been some wonderful lag and I "warped" somewhere near a rit boss or something that had me for dinner. Since I died instantly, and the henchies just scattered... I had no idea.

Sounds like a bad lag period to me, where you are standing between monsters, but you think you are somewhere else. Happened to me, and than I died and the game just continues after resurrection like nothing happened.

*Sigh* the mobs get more love from Anet than we do LOL

All kidding aside, friends and I have said for a long while now, weekends increase the difficulty and power of mobs. If there is relaly no difference, it sure seems like it. What's murder is when the mobs combine in the blink of an eye. Like you're fighting 3 or 4 creatures and all of a sudden you are swarmed by like 10 or 15. And nothing was on the radar... Keeps ya on your toes. My guildies know if I start to run they better follow.. lol Only reason I'm wa/mo is to have rebirth Somedays I'm a monk in 100 (sentinel) armor LOL

There is a elementalist naga boss in the Mainshang Hills, he hit like 100s with shock arrow, and hit 400 with lightning orb.
