EDIT: Didnt notice before that it says "Skills and Attributes" on the top bar. Maybe im looking at this wrong.
They are merging the Attributes Tab and the Skills Window under the [K] command.

Templates might or might not be accessible to previous chapters but that major change of the interface will be. I see no reason for them to hold back the change for previous chapters, but if the past "Material Tab" incident was proof for anything. They could very well withhold the Templates feature and go back on their word about core changes. Which also means they can hold back the Reconnect feature as well.

Also, they will most likely use the [H] Hero window for the Custom Heroes Feature. It makes sense.

It looks like the configurable henchmen to me, too. Look at the way the skill bar is INSIDE the menu, instead of down below it.

most likely, you will 'unlock' secondaries via pve for pve characters, by either buying or questing for them ala prophecies/factions, and then they will be 'unlocked' on your template screen to change freely whenever you like. this would cut out the stupid system of having to travel to a particular outpost to change your secondaries, another welcome change.

my educated guess will be that this is a Nightfall - Only feature... as it will be able to be combined with the 'custom henchies' feature.

holding on to any hope that you will get this feature without Nightfall is just in vain.

Overcome with joy, I ripped of my clothes and danced naked through the streets. I will be sending A-Net a bill for the lawyer fees.

I'd pay the $50 for this feature alone.

At first glance I was like 'Yeah! They finally implemented templates!'; however, being post character generation, it appears to be PvE focused. Thus of little use to the PvP-only characters. Instead of character based templates, it appears to be skillbar based templates (otherwise runes/armors/weapons would be selectable).

I truely hope they implement a character based template for those saving a single slot for PvP.

you guys remember back in the day when you had to get experience for 'refund points' as the only way to change your attributes?

I think I actually deleted (remade) my very first character because of that (like oh dang i dont have enough refund points, and i cant quest worth crap now cuz my skills are 4, 4, 4, 4, 3)

personally I dont even really WANT to be able to change my second profession on RP characters without the unlock-quest....

although a guild-hall changer for those characters that DO QUALIFY would be a convenience at times...

I am very interested in how this is going to work in reality.

I too am one of those with various sets of armour for different builds. For example my MM build uses a superior rune of death magic on his scar armour and my SS build uses a superior curses rune on his scar armour.

Now, as you can only equip armour that is in your inventory rather than in storage, I wonder how the templates will cope with that, or even if they will cope with that? The same applies to weapons too of course.

As attributes also depend on the runes on the armour, will the templates only remember the base (without runes applied) attributes?

I really am looking forward to this change though!

I'm pretty sure the templates will only remember skills and base attributes. You'll have to switch armors and weapons manually.

To me it looks like the new "HERO" ie. companion to your main character. config screen that was in this article http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/guildw...pdates;title;0

Here's a quote from the article that originally posted the pictures.
First noticeable difference is the "Skills and Attributes" dialog which combined those two things in one uber huge dialog. In addition there had been the mysterious "Templates" button, which had been existent but grayed out and unusable. An unnamed source said there will not be any comment on that button from anyone but of course we should feel free to take pictures and start spreading rumors in the internet. Well, here they are, hehe.

I refuse to get my hopes up about the exact nature of this new feature, as I have suspicions it may be PvP only. However I refuse to believe that this is a henchmen customisation screen. The reason the skillbar is at the bottom of the window could be so that you have a visual reminder of the build before you apply it.

Yay! Skill sets! I hope it saves your skill bar and attribute point allocation, but anything they add to make changing skills or attribute points more convenient is awesome in my book.

Wouldn't mind seeing it in the other Guild Wars chapters. It's a feature thats so obviously needed it should been in from the beginning if you ask me. Chances are they thought about it from the beginning, but saved it so they had somthing extra to add in a later chapter. Excellent!

When anet handled the "material" storage linked to Factions or Factions + Latter, would not surprise me if templates are handled this way.

That being said, I can't wait for this feature. Saves many scrape paper on the computer desk

Well, it is in PC Gamer, and has not been denied by Anet...

I think it's a safe bet we'll see Skill (and Profession!) templates in Nightfall.

Yes, according to PC Gamer, you will be able to change your secondary in Outposts in Nightfall, and even set up templates of builds. (I assume you'll have to unlock the secondary first...)

But you're right, it has not been confirmed.

EDIT: Gaile just confirmed there will be Assassin and Ritualist skills in Nightfall, so for what it's worth, PC Gamer got that right...

I just read the thread about the contents of the November edition of PC Gamer and can see some more convincing evidence of this. I really hope so as it would totally rock.

This is clearly a feature that should of been in the game from the start, they're obviously using 'purposefully left out' features as incentives to purchase each new expansion.

Im sorry how was this "purposefully left out" GW is an evolveing game and the developers simply add what needs to be added over time.

Yes, "obviously" Anet foresaw the future, and purposely left this feature out so they could make a great selling point for Chapter 3.

Please. It's a nice feature, but not the main selling point (to me) for Nightfall. I think it's great Anet listens to their customers and gives us what we want.

I also think it's silly to expect this kind of service for free. Anet is not a charity, and as long as these features are included with all the content a new Chapter brings, I'll be glad.

(I wouldn't be willing to spend money just for this feature, for example.)

I don't remember saying it was the main selling point, but don't fool yourselves into thinking they only just thought to add this, offering things like this (and the material storage) to only the people with the latest expanison , is, ofcourse an intended selling point. 'I also think it's silly to expect this kind of service for free. Anet is not a charity' You realise they make a new expansion every 6 months or whatever it is, to make up for not having a monthly fee (which also explains the cheapo servers) right? Aslong as they keep offering 'revolutionary' features no one could ever think of like material storage and skill pre-sets, thrown in with some new content people will carry on buying them.

Mordakai, you say Anet are not a charity so you must realise they are a company, and like alot of companies they are out to make money right? Yeah thats right, how do they make money? Employing strategies like this, all game developers do it. They 'obviously' save ideas to keep the series going. I think it's foolish to see people giving it "I <3 Anet," because it's all part of their plan anyway, they havn't listened to you, im sure if 10,000 gamers can think of the idea a single developer can.

That's right, if they put all of their ideas into the first game, it would be a great game no doubt, but they wouldn't be able to bring anything new to the table and make some good, worthwhile expansions (which in the long run would make them more money than releasing only the one game with everything included).

I'm not upset, I'm glad they're adding it, but my point was don't kid yourselves, not just you, into believing it's a new idea or added by popular demand, but you couldn't accept that.
