It thought it was rather funny. There were people who don't know a single thing about pvp, just hearing about the event and takin a visit to HA. Not blaming them or anything.

I have to say, it is weird... HA had been 8vs8 for so long, and all of sudden, now it is 6vs6. This bring back old memory in the desert arena for 6vs6.

honestly.. this weekend event has done everything except be fun..

My guild is always yelling at one another now.. every one is pointing fingers.. and we get raped every 2nd round or so..

i played in ha for about 5 hours today.. about 1 minute of that was actual fun.

This weekend event has single handedly totally ruined any of my passion for pvp.

not to mention the fact that europe has held favor for some kinda awfull long time now.. they must never sleep.. sick bastads

It's because the average Eu player has a lot more experience with balanced, and balanced scales well to 6x6. Am players just know how to play gimmicks.

That being said, I spent many hours in HA today and generally had fun. Not more fun than usual, mind, but it wasn't the r/bspike drudgery I was expecting.

Taking a very non-representative sample (members of pugs I have been in), it seems like players below r3 are winning quite a bit more.

If Anet's goal was to spark interest in HA and attract new players for this weekend, I'd say that they're succeeding. It remains to be seen how many of them stay.

I liked the 6x6 scale of battles...

I mean, I LOVED all the separate PVE_PVP arenas on drokanars, yaks and so on, they were a blast and i got realy sad when they close em all

This 6x6 reminds me of that time, AND as i expected the games are A LOT more interesting. The matches are more balanced and even the crappier games are interesting and fun to play. New balanced builds had come up (at least I and my friends are trying them), and even past the WHOLE LOT of vimway builds i have seen, the game is more interesting then it was in 8x8. I am not 100% sure why, but it is for sure more interesting

I am still to decide if i like more 8x8 or 6x6, but one thing is truth, there are a LOT MORE PEOPLE PLAYING, and this is whithout a doubt a great enhancement since we get more diferent people playing, more challenging battles and more diferent builds to go against. The double fame is for sure the main attraction for those people trying to get /fame r3 emote, but i still have some hopes that they are staying after the event is gone and we are back to the old 8x8.

Latter.

I love it. I hope it stays this way. The battles are much more fast-paced and things go alot faster.

And i hope it does NOT stay this way. 8v8//larger scale//more action//funner.

In my eyes.

How is it more action? I would say these new 6v6 builds are a lot more fun to play with, and faster paced. So yeh.... they are "funner" IMHO, btw, that isn't a word.

Eh, I dont know. It seems the groups are: Vimway, Vimway, Starburst, Smite, Vimway, Balanced, Vimway, Starburst, Smite, Blood, Vimway, Vimway, Vimway, Starburst, Balanced....etc...

Although the 8vs8 was always, blood, smite, blood, blood, smite, starburst, iway, vimway, iway, vimway, blood...etc...

So I guess its not that different. =/

disclaimer: *all in my personal experiece, i dont play HA often*

Overall its been good though. Easier time finding groups. Less rank discrimination. I've gotten 75 fame in a few hours.

someone mentioned that funner isn't a word, they're right, the correction is "more fun"

I don't play HA myself, but my alliance doesn't seem to be complaining. Seems to go well...

i'm loving it! ultimate fame farming ftw! our guild got 3 guys thier r3 in almost a day (and they were about r1 when we started).

plus i love the different builds we're encountering. of course theres an occasional vimway but thats never a problem with the build we were running.

I am enjoying this weekend event, i suspect they are using us all as lab rats for a new form of pvp but what the heck.
i can't say i experianced the problems you seem to be having yesterday i played Hoh for about 3 hours maybe four with a guild of friends and it was all very relaxed and for the first time in a long while they made more than 2 fame in a day.
i enjoyed it because we had some really close battles were it was really a win/lose case if you didn't res one of yoor team mebers fast enough.

as for the fact that we are winning all the time,
there is an simple answer,
the european servers span most of the globe,
just about from spain to new zealand (excluding japan and korea and tawien)
all comes under the supreme rain of europe.
this does mean that "europe" can practcally play 24/7.

So much ViM!!!1111

What I liked:

1) IWAY sucks in 6v6.
2) Pure spikes were uneffective.
3) Greater variation in builds throughout.
4) Organisation is faster (no 1 hour wait for everyone to set-up etc.)
5) Easier to co-ordinate with 5 others than 7 others.

...to name a few.

Vimway, Dual/Triple Smite, and Condition-heavy builds are most of what's being run. All to different variations, but that's basically 80-90% of what is being played.

I just like getting 180 fame in ~5 hours, all by running unranked groups out of the alliance. I don't think many people will be left w/o an emote, after friday is done.

ya the fame is getting to easy and most people are going to have tigers who where rank 7/8 if the play over the few days espically as most children (like myself) are still on there summer hoildays so have alot of time to spend in HA grinding fame =D

I agree that there is aot of VIM going about and iv played in a few groups and its the quickest way to get fast fame, althou are ranger spike won the HOH so might of got more fame in the long run but setting the team up and praticing in the templetook longer...blah blah blah

I want it to go bk to 8v8 after this event finshes but it would still be nice to see a 6v6 vartion some were else in nightfall maybe =D

I love it. I hope it stays like this.

As far as the matches go it seems there is less room for holding builds, and things go faster and are generally more fun.

The best of it all is that it doesn't take forever to set up. getting those extra two people is a huge difference.

Btw balanced totally owns ViMway if you have degen. 1 RC, 1 WoH, 1 SS, 1 mesmer degen, 1 shock axe, and crip shot.

I enjoy it a lot. I'm not sure if its just because its new a refreshing, or if its actually more fun then 8v8 though.

I do like the faster pace, the easier it is to get teams going, and the fact that almost every balance is somewhat different.

For example, someone might complain there are way too many condition pressure builds. But the thing is almost ever condition pressure is different in some way. Shall we take a tainted/warder? A trapper with NR/tranq? A PD degen mesmer? So each one of these popular condition pressures has a interesting choice to make because you cant really fit it all.

The things I dont like though are the 500 vimways starting in each district (though they are ridiculously easy to beat). It makes it hard to find a balanced PUG.

I also dont like the fact that basically if one monk falls, it causes a chain reaction which makes it very hard to come back. Sure its done, but its very frusturating when everyone else crumbles.

Overall very fun weekend though.

Im against this weekend. I remember the 6v6 desert... good times.
This weekend i go in to check this out with my monk, all i see is... IWAY WAR LF VIMWAY. VIMWAY r6++ LF TRAPPERS. all this gay stuff. took me many months for r6 and now kids are getting r3 in a mere hour. Plus all the crap there is, dual smite, triple smite, all this. Balanced only gets by if its ranked. Then in the 6+ balanced we got people being... "yeah im r2 with 179 fame." yeah right. Many people have worked so hard for their ranks and now it means less. see people every where with Mighty Hero (3).To bad this is till tuesday, wanted to enjoy my monday off and play some pvp, ha, but now its jacked up now i got school for 5867596 days. gg anet.

I finally got rank 3 after getting into a Guru PuG while playing as a Crip Shot (when I never have played a Crip Shot in competitive PvP before. I sometimes surprise myself.). We even made it to Halls and beat the #4 guild. Just shows that not all PuGs are bad.

However, 50% of the matches were VIMWAY. One Guru member nearly exploded from the frustration of facing it. Why is ArenaNet determined not to nerf it and IWAY?

I don't know what the problem with Vim is...sure its the most common build without a second thought, (although I encounted a lot of smite too) it is certainly not overpowered or exploiting a glitch. Frankly, I don't see how you can lose to it..kill the rangers, kill the wars. Seeing as they have no condtion/hex removal, how hard can it be? The standard Iway war has Iway! to heal, and thats it. I typically roll vims with unranked pug balances. Idk, meh..I play mostly vim anyway..Im too lazy to play a real build.

I never saw guilds running Vim..always balanced or smite. I played IA once..so pointless. bleh

Oh, and I didn't get r3 yet, so Zinger I hope you found someone to go back in time with you.

barrageway is an absolutly devastating build over this weekend.

Its good against normal builds but the kicker is its nigh on impossible to lose to a vimway team.

I quite like how the 6v6 plays. Perhaps it's because of more people playing with no 'cookie-cutters' to fall back on than the actual number of players per team... who knows?

"Its good against normal builds but the kicker is its nigh on impossible to lose to a vimway team."

Heh, I don't think I've seen a VIMWAY team ever win a match.

lol some of you must have bad luck or something i have been getting around 50 + fame a day... also i run with some good pvp friends even though my brother who watches over my shoulder says we stand around for 2 hours then die after 5 rounds lol.

before the event started like 10 minutes before i heard/saw lots of ppl bashing iway and vimwayers " 10 more minutes of vimwaying you nubs" but ppl roll with the blows as vimiway now is 4 trappers and 2 iwayers. and stop bashing builds you r9s out there stop calling iway noobish as im sure 1-2 ranks of yours is tainted with iway blood. not to mention i see ppl bashing it then saying "r9+ iway forming"....

not to mention double fame is cool but i have a felling that once4 its ovger its going to be r6+ groups only leaving out new comers even more then they are now.
