This is rather annoying. The ladder is going to reset tomorrow and we still have no skill changes.
WTH is going on? The first 2 weeks or so will be just experimenting. Last time at least they gave us a week to figure things out before reset. Gaile said Monday last week that a skill update should be within the week.
Well......its been over a week and no update. If Anet needs some alpha testers I would be happy to help. How about during the Ladder lock you let us be your alphas? Just make it a pvp weekend with some changes and 2x balth faction. Then, get some feedback.
We used to get skill updates just about every month. Mind you the game was severily imbalanced back then. Anet used to faster on these sort of things. Comparing back then to now it feels to me like we get less support from Anet with things that really matter. I understand that they are developing a new game, releasing a new game, and making changes to existing version all at the same time. That's a full plate.
I've played with the glitches. Fine....they'll fix it when they can. I've played with the lag. Ladder lock and no events so servers where cut to reduce cost. I can understand that and have no real complaints. I enjoy playing a free game.
But not making skill changes at least a week or 2 weeks before the season starts is irresponsible. What happens when you make a change to a few skills and wrecks some people's builds? They have to now create a new build and learn how to play it. What if you tank you rating trying to find a good build that works for your team?? You are screwed. If you reform the guild or join another guild after the ladder resets you are not eligible to win anything.
The first few weeks is going to be a total mess.
Still no skill updates???

Of course, as you all know, ArenaNet is never flexible with their time schedules. So start creating panic threads if there isn't an update when the latter resets. |

[conspiracy]Or it's possible that ArenaNet is trying to change some of the rumored/leaked skills in order to forever discredit them. Big Brother is Watching You![/conspiracy]
They did this exact thing before Factions. We were gonna have a skill update in March, ...then Late March, ....the First Week of April, ...Finally the 'update' came out concurrently with Factions. That was the big MM nerf.
I realize you are wanting the update for PvP players, but my point is that they are disruptive to PvE'er as well. If the pre-Factions update had come as planned, the MMs would have had time to re-adjust their builds and re-learn to play before jumping head-first into Factions.
I'm not saying people wouldn't have complained a lot, but that there is some legitimacy to all the griping....a major nerf at the same time as new content is VERY BAD.

My problem is looking at the top guilds most of them have less than 20 losses. If skills get changed 1 day before ladder unlock you can get that many losses just trying to get used to a new build. That will put you out of the running for the play offs.
As for the impact on pve it will endure. They are not giving $100k to play pve. In no way am I discrediting pve but the difference has to be made clear. Pve will go on no matter what changes are made. Players have forever to adjust with no real backlash.

1) it is their game
2) great idea to keep things fresh
3) no copy cat crap with fotm, find your own build and be skillfull
as far as i am concerned releasing a skill update at the same time the ladder resets will allow the players with actual skill to be at the top where they deserve to be... not whoever can copy the best builds first and stay up hours upon hours using character builds they didnt even come up with themselves takeing the fame from someone elses inteligence and skill.

Any skill changes will keep the game fresh but the timing is very bad.
Obs mode is always available. You can copy any build you want to. That doesn't mean you'll be able to run it like that top guild you copied it from. Most good guilds have their own build anyways. Copying a build has nothing do with skill changes.
Changing skills at the time of ladder reset has nothing to do with skill. I could easily sit around for a week and watch how the meta game shifts instead of tanking my rating. I just don't want to lose 1 week of a 4 week season just to prevent tanking my rating due to skill changes that could have been done a week or 2 prior.

while people are in observer mode trying to figure out what builds work the best the doers are already out their making their mark
the ladder is open for limited amounts of time for a reason by giving people a head start and being able to develope new builds before the ladder is reset doesnt do justice for the skilled players who can develope builds on the fly at a moments notice
with skill changes right at the start of the reset you will really see who is who in the ladder... not just a bunch of gimp copy cats already set up knowing whats coming...
good guilds shouldnt have a problem with this at all if they are confident in their abilities... only peeps worried about it are people that need to test their builds to make sure they work... or see what everyone else is doing so they need no inteligence at all to grind away...
it all comes down to skill and that really is a fact... none of this sissy who can race the ladder fastest crap it will be who can make the best builds and race the ladder the fastest... it will make the ladder race all that more entertaining and meaningful IMO

*it is skill and not making the mistakes the other makes*
you can all tank equally unless as an above poster said they are more skillful than you are
