16 attribute for any spell in the game...? Too awesome. I doubt it will change the next spell into illusion type thou (mantra of persistance). I hope they don't go "next mesemer spell", although that would still be great.
It's implied that Signet of Illusion will affect any spell, since Inspired Hex and Arcane Thievery is mentioned in conjunction. Seriously, you people need to read between the lies.

I have a strong feelign ArenaNet will butcher the recharge time, though. If it's greater than 15 seconds, it'll be useless.

Or worse, make you lose all energy for using it, like Signet of Disenchantment .

new paragon shout, LOL

Without a solid counter to touch-type skills, we decided to add a new Paragon shout called "Can't Touch This," which causes touch skills used on friends within earshot to completely fail. This will allow players to counter skills like Blackout, Shock, or Vampiric Touch more effectively.

touch rangers can go touch something else now, cuz this isnt touchable anymore! :P

I just want to say HA!!

This is so funny, I mean you gotta love Anet. I know people say just run and blah blah from touch groups, but running is hardly ever an effective strategy... especially when touch rangers started bringing storm chaser with them. All gimmick builds should have counters and this is awesome.

Plus the name is just awesome, they just need a class that can do the hammer dance while its being shouted.... maybe the male Dervish lol!

(awesome thread )

I've noticed that whenever I post lately I've tended to ramble on a bit more than I shoud so just this once, I'll be succinct.
<3 u ANet
Zomg Luxons = pwned! (On Euro servers Luxons touchers seem to outnumber Kurzick touchers by at least 20 to 1)

I have to say though, when I saw the name, I had to double check this was Mid Spetember and not April 1st.

What I mean was, "I hope they don't change it to 'next mesemer spell'". While both inspired hex and arcane thievery are not illusion is the main catch I believe.

EDIT: Just realized that the Signet of Illusion is actually some sort of *catalyst* used to obnoxiously boost your newly-acquired spell.

Oh and it did mention the NEXT spell you cast... which means it's sort of like a one-shot boost?

Ugh, "Can't Touch This." Before, with "It's just a flesh wound." it was kinda amusing, now they're just milking it dry. At least make it have a BIT of seriousness, like "For Great Justice!" and stuff had.

Yes, but a pretty powerful one - just imagine you steal Animate Flesh Golem or Chain Lightning or any other powerful offensive skill that doesn't require a specific weapon and then use it with 12 or so points in illusion magic...

I don't know if that really works, Anryla, since the vague description on guildwars.com says "which will make the next spell you cast use your Illusion attribute". So it might well be that you can't use hexes with signet of illusions...

But even if it just works for spells it could be quite useful if you use it after arcane thievery ("one random spell is disabled for target foe, and Arcane Thievery is replaced by that spell").

Let's stick to the example I used before: the air spiker...
Arcane thievery catches a random spell from target foe = 1:8 chance to get the chain lightning.
Target has rez signet equipped = 1:7 chance.
Target has rez signet and glyph of (lesser) energy = 1:6 chance
And so on - the more non-spells the target has equipped the better the chance to get a good spell.

Arcane thievery & signet of illusions might be pretty worthless on a ranger, assassin, warrior and maybe even (healing) monk, but if you get the rigt spell from a necro, ele or ritualist it could really help your team.

Did I get something wrong. I thought hexes was spells or have I completely missunderstood this?
I think the in game text even say "Hex Spell", and yeah, the description is a little vague so we are still speculating of course ...

I sure hope that they count hexes as hex spells like they normally do - I just wanted to point out that this might be the catch on the otherwise really sweet signet

Oh, and another thing: how about combining this with mantra of signets? Even with no points in inspiration magic it instantly recharges the signet used in the next 10 seconds...

Arcane thievery --> mantra of signets --> signet of illusions --> fire away with stolen spell... Uses three skill slots but might nonetheless be quite interessting for upcoming mesmer builds.

Either they didn't explain it clearly..or this skill is way too powerful. It's a shout that causes all touch skills to fail...or is it the "next" touch skill to fail?

Signet of Illusion
Here's the official word on this awesome signet: "...which will make the next spell you cast use your Illusion attribute instead of its normal attribute."

That shout is a brilliant addition to the game, it wouldn’t become overused as sacrificing primary or secondary profession for just that one skill will completely alter the builds. It will balance it up nicely. I don’t believe touch are overpowered particularly at present as crippling and slowing hexes will destroy a team.

MORE IMPORTANTLY

I’m going to spend the next month praying that signet of illusion won’t be an elite (although in fairness it most likely will). All those options! You will be able to run spells from other bars with no attributes in that skillbar. How wonderful! My spike idea just got a lot more potent! Oh yes! I’m a happy little Mesmer now.

If it’s an elite though hopefully it’s recharge wouldn’t be higher than 40 seconds.

Oh yes, this is really exciting
And of course you don't have to use "stolen" spells - why not equip a spell from your secondary profession? Like a me/ele packing chain lightning without any pints in air magic. Or even use mesmer spells from an attribute tree you wouldn't use otherwise... Damn, I should stop creating new builds in my head based on this signet when I don't even know the req. or recharge ;D

You guys are missing the beauty of this skill. don't mess with Inspire Hex or Arcane Thievery. Just put the damn skill you want on your skillbar!

Think of it - you can put a skill from your secondary on your skillbar and use it at max power without putting any points into the attribute. This would even let you take skills from the primary attribute of your secondary profession, which you don't normally use.

Sig of Illusion -> Double Dragon - Powee! (assuming its not elite of course lol).
Sig of Illusion -> Animate Vam. Horror - Yummy! (or whatever that badass spell is called)

Since the recharge is likely to be long, it would work best on spells that also have long recharges.

Regarding "Can't Touch This!", maybe I misread but I thought it said this was an Elite, meaning quit crying about it's power. There are lots of powerful elites.

on illusion sig-

if its elite, you can always bring that other mesmer skill, to copy your teammates' elite.

and, as an elite... Id say a 40 second recharge would be too much... Im thinking more like 20 seconds... but hey I dont work for ANet so who knows.

That would be the best single target knockdown hammer elite in the game...

The Guildwars Website has released three new skills:

Dervish:

GRENTH'S GRASP {E}
Causes all of your attack skills to Cripple as long as a cold damage weapon is used.

Mesmer:

Signet of Illusions
Makes your next spell use the Illusion magic attribute.

and...The Toucher nerf:

Paragon:

"Can't Touch this!"
Causes all 'touch' skills used against you to fail.

While "Can't touch this" will obviously hurt touch rangers, we really have no idea how much. We'll need to see things like cost, duration, and recharge time. Also, upset Touch Rangers should realize that not everyone will be a paragon or have a paragon secondary.

Personally, I think it will be equally interesting to see how this skill effects other elements of the metagame like blackout mesmers and shock warriors.
