But yeah all these goofballs get old, I thought so at the end of Factions - I get why the Luxons and Kurzicks are there but hearing the same kinda of prattle from the Ascalon core - I suppose as we have core classes, core skills, we also have core pains in the ... err NPCs.

And they'll even be that much worse/much less a factor as Nightfall HEROES totally supplant them. That's one reason I was hoping either a) I could use my own characters in such a manner b) they'd let us create our owns c) they'd let us chose from a [much] larger pool, arguably even the chapter flavor standouts (Nightfall unlocks chapter heroes) - ie you can enlist say a bored Danika striking out or you just decided you need Cynn, but this time she's USEFUL as you can keep her AOE/mob fleeing in check.

But not as henchy in some spots, but the heroes themselves.
Maybe future chapters then but quite frankly a pool of 12 from Nightfall across 10 classes? I'd guess at least the new classes would show up going forward - I'm just not sure of the way they did it. One choice may preclude another? More options/configurable/personal would have been better IMO.

And yay all my chars work with the same pool - that's a lot of Koss and Co.
In some ways I'd say hey, if Mhenlo is still around alright, but maybe toss him into the Hero pool at this point rather than the continued story runner, 'Mhenlo must survive', henchmen choice etc etc. As much as I agree with some of the dis, I'd much rather have him as a choice rather than some no-name Nightfall monk washout I'll now be saddled with repeatedly and indefinately. My monk, one of the NPC monks I've come across before, even one I could newly create to be that players hero >> that.

But that's only cosmetic and I'm looking forward to the functionality. Heroes have it so much more over anything else tho now - even your new, and arguably even over most if not all of your old, characters. The NPC whining wannabees we all know and like/love/hate/despise will simply even be that much more backseat chatter annoyances - story conveyance only, really. The heroes of old can only take a backseat to the hero system of new, and there's only a small pool to be had.

In some cases maybe borrowing as I suggested (rangers from Cantha I think I saw) but still IMO it didn't go far and deep enough. So seeing and using the same heroes over and over again across your chars and friends is meh (the 'copy' implementation strikes me as more than a bit lame lol) but I'm too jazzed about the gameplay to worry about it much yet. Just doesn't help shelf-life of their enjoyment, we'll find out how much it hurts it.

Nightfall, you start out as a commander, you know everything, all the npc's take your orders. WTF! Seems like an over-correction here. Heroes will just be splitting the focus of the player (and discouraging group play, but thats for a different topic). Also, flaming will increase (My Koss is better you noob, my koss has 1337 skillz, my Koss has a complete set of victo's stuff! My koss is rank 12). I just don't liek the perspective of it. I would much rather be the common soldier who works his way to the top than BAM! You're a commander. For this reason alone, I will not be purchasing Nightfall, and I hope Anet reads this -_- doubtful, but I can hope
