My thread got shutdown in the Sanctum, so hopefully it will survive here.
I Want to get some discussion started about the completely lame scam of buying Commendations, Requisitions, and Totems for 150g. There seems to be people that think they can make money this way and they are everywhere.
Anytime you go to Marketplace or KC you see people spamming it all over the chat window.
I routinely am the jerk that promotes everyone quit listening to whoever is spamming because the only people that would fall for it are the ones who need the money the most. Honestly how much money can these scammers be making at 50g a pop when most everyone (hopefully) knows that they can get 200 from the traders.
I wish there was a way that Guild Wars could Mute this persons chat window if it contained 150 and any keyword of commendation, requisition or totem in it. Yeah this seems stupid but it is really getting old in my eyes.
If anyone else agrees or disagrees with me, feel free to discuss.
Hopefully someone else out there tries to block these people from preying on lesser experiened players for such a small amount of money.
Note to scammers* IF THIS IS ALL YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR TIME, GO PLAY SOME OTHER GAME AND LET US ENJOY GUILDWARS WITHOUT YOU*

When I see this, I just spam in all chat a few times: "don't sell your commendation to /insert name/, you can get $200 from the quartermaster." After a few moments, the person usually leaves.
But I don't think he is a scammer, he's just taking advantage of the people selling to him. Sure, I think it's wrong, but not a scam.

Well, if you can handle that then okay.
Scenario,
I want to buy something that is worth (X) (defined value, not abstract like weapons)
But I only want to pay value (Y) (knowing that X>Y)
That means I am making money, but at the same time SCAMMING other party who does not know Value (X) even though it is in the game.
Maybe to fix this the value on the item is place at 200g by default when they get it So everyone knows value X=200g and doesn't sell to Chicken for value (Y)
*EDIT*In afterthought this is the same principle behind the Trading and Buying of Cars. The salesman is scamming you he knows it you know it and it is okay.

I was considering buying commendations/credits/requsitons to actually trade for dwarven ale and work on my drunk title.
Lets say i traded a few commendations for some dwarven ale, the merchant will only give you 100g for the ale. If anything we should report the merchants, dye traders, material traders, the whole lot of them for scamming.

What do you expect ANet to do about this? And why is it lame in the first place? If I have 2 Commendations and need 300g real quick, I wouldn't mind selling them to those guys, it's not like they're scamming me. They're trading so they can trade 5 for 200g each, but as long as you don't have 5, 150g is very decent...
And compared to many other trades, this is nothing. People have bought perfect items for 1K, and sold them for millions, but who cares? I'm pretty damn sure you'd buy that item for 1K (I know I would, and I don't scam).

I wish to god people would use the word scam properly. There is no deceit or trickery going on here. A person says 'I want to buy all your commendations for 150g each.' You have the option to sell or not sell to him. They aren't understating the importance of the commendations, or trying to convince you they are worth less than they are. They offer a price and you choose to sell or not sell. ITS NOT A SCAM.
Now go find something more worthy to boohoo about. :P

to OP, what do you think the real world is? how do some people becomes rich, simple they buy cheap sell high. i dont think its a scam, sellers sets the price and if buyer agrees it, its a Done deal. no scamming there.
