New GW Players, You are LUCKY!

Infusion runs were fun. Unlocking stuff before Balth's Faction wasn't. Tombs being casual fun was definitely fun.

I got Prophecies since a year and bought Nightfall today. I remember my first days, no trading spam in the towns, less scam, gold items were worth a lot without 600% more damage while health below 1%
but I like the changes today. China farmer definitely got screwed.

D.E.V.i.A.N.C.E
Paying 30 SoJ's was so worth these 15 scales... you may notice there arnt any traders around...
You could kill stuff in under 20 seconds and it would be so worth it
even when this happened...
but the best thing that we would love back would be... free chests
EDIT
Did I mention I use to be nice? the the best trader ever?

Agreed w/ OP. It's nice to see someone that can look at the larger picture of GW evolution and not nit pick with things that bug them.

I remember when there was a warning on the choose class screen for mesmer.
I remember some of the ridiculous build I could run and nobody cared, because it was all in the name of good fun.
I remember when boonprot had no recharge, and zealots fire didn't make monsters flee.
I remember the market crash, and how pissed I was that I had no money.
I remember pre searing being packed.

And I remember days where I sold all my shells for 2g each 3 hours before the beta event was over and all my money dissapeared. ^_^
Was that the one when all runes and shards were uber cheap? I remember that day and I logged off and went playing something else because I was pissed and GW and missed it all ^_^. Well, they did a rollback anyways...

How'd they be lucky when they are 18 months late to enjoy the game.

I've had the game for 14 months now :-P. I remember when people freaked out in pre about my glowy hands (randomly picked up a CE in circuit city, said "hey, this looks friggen sweet!", bought it, installed xD). Ooh man. People were so much cooler. All that mattered were shw33t g0ld dr0pz y0. No greens, no random dungeons, and people seemed a lot more wealthy. I didn't even have "nerf bat" in my vocabulary till like 2 months later. I remember something from like 5 months ago- that retarted server update that totally uber-ed out the world. Where no zones work, mapping failed, and people could run right out of ascalon to anywhere w/o any monsters in the normal maps.
I also remember leaving pre at lv3 xD. And finding out that no- everything does not look like a shining garden of peace after torrents of fire rage through it. Man, that freaked me out.
+finding gwen's flute in the middle of the random mound. That, was seriously depressing >.>
man i'm hyper.

I miss having to hit and cancel Signet of Capture over and over again to capture elite stances
I miss getting ecto to drop from a chest in Riverside, and then selling it to NPC for 100 gold.
I miss seeing "Lulu The Monk's team has won a battle in the Hall of Heroes and keeps the favor of the gods for America." about 50 times in a row.

The OP is right though. Really, people complain a lot. I don't know if they're people who forgot how much easier Anet has made it now, or if they were never present for it but I really like the new additions.

I remember a lot of the stuff you've guys said..as I've been playing since June of 05. But the biggest was that big market burst...or whatever when monk runes were 40k+ I got one at that time and was living it up, also got 2-3 sup vigors. Thing I regret was not knowing about the chests in Riverside or Dreadknoughts until it was to late.

Remember that time when monsters stayed in AOE damage. Yeah I want that one back. And yes the game is worse without it. LOL

Alrighty, here's what I remember from 17 months...
-The update that "significantly increased the difficulty and significantly increased the rewards in The Underworld and the Fissure of Woe."
- No IWAY!
- Monsters being too dumb to run from AoE
- Ecto being lower valued than Shards
- Ecto being 20k+
- Both market crashes
- Sissy Boys [sB] running Tombs when it was PvP
- Michael Jacksons Little Boys [Mj] spamming Tombs AD1 with NSYNC lyrics
- Thinking I was good at GvG when I couldn't kite, didn't know what the catapult did, had no clue what the guild thief was, thought balanced was for nubs, etc...
- Choosing either CA, TA, or the Guild Hall as the final selection in PvP-char creation and not knowing you could travel to the others freely.
- Failing Thunderhead Keep so much on my ele I deleted him (first char ever).
- Completing Thunderhead Keep with my Ranger, with henchway, and then not doing it again for a year. To this day I have never beaten THK with a PuG.
Ah, good times...of course, they would've been better if I knew what I was doing back then...

THK is a peice of piss...and one of the best missions to date.
Addone_Abaddon
I hate THK.. I've spent weeks trying to get a party for it, and when I do, I die at the very end.
Malice Black
It's easy, get 2 people on the catapults and get the rest to stand in the middle of the keep *not* by the king..that gives you 6 people depending on the level of PuG you find 3 people can easily man 1 gate while the other 3 take the other gate.
barrage and blood spike with wells help alot

would a Stance tank help (W/Me)?

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there a time where you could buy any skill you wanted and as many as you wanted ( as long as you had the points) for 50 gold at a fixed price?

I henched it (with bonus) by gathering @ the king, letting the first mob that comes in to the keep kill off the other mobs that follow it (for some reason it does, odd), and basically focus-firing down the mursaat as you see fit and it's gg emberlight camp.
The thing with splitting on pugs is unless the players are all good and organised and kill fast (the antithesis of a PuG, but it does happen), it's all over fast.

When I get a ranger Hero on my non-Ranger I plan to give them that.
Unless anyone knows that you can give any customized weapon from your account to any hero???

Timeless Logic
I remember when the salvage rate for Fur Squares was lower than that of other rare materials. With the number of W/Mo players in Ascalon, they went for 30-50k apiece at first. Then they crashed to 5-10k, but I still made a pretty penny. Even after ANet insterted a collector, people didn't catch on for several days.
And yes, the Ithas Bow rocks.
EDIT: I forgot the best aspect of all. Anyone else remember the days when Lulu the Monk's team would hold HoH for hours on end?

Elementalist Nukers were good
Villany of Galrath and Althea's Ashes quests were freaking hard with low rewards
Korea taking HoH all the time, now its Europe
55hp Monk = most popular build at the time

Still got those bad feelings when i missed the trader reset, and how gutted i was that i missed out on easy money.
dbgtboy
i remember i used to farm the ettins at sanctum cay and get like 1-2 gold boots each run (this was before faction was even introduced and when gold unid items were still able to give you major runes, and also you werent guaranteed to salvage runes out either) and sell them to Lulu The Monk for 15k each unid, and then hed give them back after iding and id get so rich off of that, damn i used to make at least 100k per hour back then i was so friggin rich, i was the second person to buy fow armor for male warrior 2 days after obsidian shards were released, spent hours spamming toa trying to find people who had shards. Ectos were so ridiculously low priced back then before shards were introduced, people had no idea what they were for either, i bought all my ectos for 500g or less.
