Anyways...
Get to Shiro and the Lich, pull the Lich and take him out easily. Now get the henchmen out of the agro bubble, and let the meleer (In this case my dervish friend) take all the hits from shiro. The monks will be protting him, your job is to control the SV and inflict damage from afar. When Shiro hits impossible odds make sure your melee has enough skills to stay alive, because that is the only person Shiro will go for. Control your nec hero and make sure he is spamming SV and empathy (Disable the rest of his skills if need be). Between the monks healing the meleer and the self heal, the meleer will stay alive. SV and empathy will allow him to self sac, and between the damage you and the henchies are inflicting Shiro will go down fairly quick.
Oh, also, make sure your henchies are attacking but are OUT of the agro bubble. If they are out, then all your monks need to do is focus on the one that shiro is attacking. Rangers, bring longbows. Long ranged weapons are ideal. Don't use any short ranged attacks.
If Shiro manages to shadow step to someone other than the meleer then he will have access to all of your main damage dealers and your monks, and well... once he hits IO let's just say it's a pretty quick wipe.
If that should happen, pull out, rez, re-aggro him, and then begin again. This is essentially exactly how I did it. I didn't go into this detail about tactics previously as I didn't want to write an entire walkthrough. But essentially my process was the following:
-Me as dervish with Avatar of Balth, go in and quickly kill lich with holy damage attacks.
-When he was dead run away until Shiro disengages.
-Place my tank (Zenmai) at the archway entrance.
-have myself stand directly over zenmai and place hench/hero flag slightly outside of aggro circle.
-equip my pulling bow
-pull shiro up to zenmai.
- I sat back and let her whack on him and the rest do their job from afar, while I watch what goes on.
- Make small corrections, tactical withdrawal, extra pulling in case of disengaging. etc
He may have stuck on my tank nicely because Zenami she was a crit defense tank and was actually pumping out a lot of damage in addition to the 75% evasion and 2 stance knockers. Not sure on that. He did Shadow Step to my bakckline quite alot but he would run back almost immediately. I think this was mostly due to how far I had him overextended and the fact that my casters would usually try to kite and then he would just try to run back down the hill since he rarely got hit but then Zenmai would whack him or I would hit him with an arrow and he would come back and zenmai would start tanking him again. Once Riposting Shadows was no longer used and the IO phase started he was glues to Zenmai and everyone else was outside the aggro circle including myself adn all I had to do was wait and watch life bars to make sure we coudl recover if somethign crazy happened.

see? It isn't about the skills you use, it's about how you use them. that's GW, and the difference with other rpg's

If Shiro were this hard but the length of the preceeding components of the mission were about half, people wouldn't be complaining so much. It's one of those missions where 25-30 minutes of progress can be wiped in 25-30 seconds. I did it with heros on my derv, but I don't have a clue how I can get it done with heros on my monk. The problem with real people is that if someone quits the group, the way groups are formed nowadays means that you are always losing something crucial, whether it be an SV or a Bflash, or even another monk.

Monk is by far the easiest class to PUG. Since they are somewhat special, they get the say. I can't remember one time when a monk would get kicked.
The team build isn't that essential. Just make sure you ask the other monk their build and make sure you have the essentials. Aegis, LoD, GL, prot spirit, SoA, heal party?, condition removal, don't need hex removal. But above all, go mostly prot.
And before going after shiro, simply explain how it works. It also helps to join/start a masters group.

bah stop complaining, I did this mission with a friend and 6 heroes/hench. We had 1 death (Shiro'ken spiked the necro hero). It isn't a hard mission at all, if you bring even 1 skill that is anti-melee.
Jeremy Untouchable
ok, beat it with heros and henches, ranger hero was lvl 13, it took 4 hours, i kept flagging henches away from the gate, for a about an hour, they used prot skills on me and finally got shiro to stick on me, with bonettis and SOA, Prot spirit, So took me a week and lots of madness but finally beat it

4 hours?!?!? the most it should ever take a person is 30 minutes. you should have used a necro with ss or sv. people say you dont need it, but it still helps alot.

I got lucky and just completed this mission...finally. So hard to find a team as a dervish. We had three monk hero's, three wars, a ranger and me (a dervish). Completed mission/bonus with not one death
I'm still in shock.
P.S. Just found out two of the tanks carried protectors defense. Seemed to help a ton.

Tips for Defeating Shiro!!!!!!!!!!
After getting so far through the missions it is important to be able to take out Shiro and stay alive while you do it. His skills are the same as the final mission in Factions, minus Meditation of the Reaper and Echoing Banishment.
Elemental and physical damage are not enough -- hexes and conditions are the key to killing Shiro quickly, as well as stance ending skills to remove Battle Scars to stop him from healing.
Use stance ending skills, such as Wild Blow and Wild Throw immediately, to remove Battle Scars. This skill is extremely dangerous in conjunction with Impossible Odds, in addition to healing Shiro at your expense.
Anti-melee hexes, such as Empathy, Insidious Parasite, Spiteful Spirit, and especially Spoil Victor, are very useful and will do tremendous damage to Shiro when he uses Impossible Odds, but keep in mind that Impossible Odds will remove a hex, so a cover hex is a must.
Conditions, such as blindness, are good but Impossible Odds allows him to spread these back onto your team. Use these with caution.
Stay clear and spread out when Shiro is low on health, because this is when he uses Impossible Odds. This does a lot of area-of-effect damage in a very short time, and can easily wipe out the party. Skills like "Watch Yourself!", Aria of Restoration, and Aegis are useful here.
A good thing might be taking an Earth ele warder with KD skills. Ward Against Melee and Ward Against Foes (this will slow down Shiro while capturing the shrines). And skills like Unsteady Ground can keep Shiro knocked down for some time that may be vital.
Impossible Odds can be interrupted but it is difficult to do so. Heroes and henchmen have a better chance than a human.
Skills which disable Shiro's skills, such as Blackout, do not work. Shiro's skills will recharge after 1 second which might imply that his skills recharge about 400% faster than normal.

Why is it that i always take exactly the class that is not wanted?
Im stuck here to,i cant hench it, i cant find a group..
Nobody wants a dervish like me, theres to many of them, its been 2 weeks since i got stuck and i cant do a damn thing about it, its killing me!
I so want to do this mission, kill shiro, strangle the lich, and get on with it, i am REALY enjoying nightfall and i am very sad that i am once again stuck and unable to complete this wonderful expansion.
I dont have a guild so i cant cal on them, i dont have any friends either, not one. (yeah, im a loner
) So i dont know what to do.
Is there anything i can do to increase the odds of finding a group?

hey man try this. I just finally beat it today with hero's and henchies.
what I did was ran straight to the avatar of melandru, killed the group there. Lich and shiro came up the stairs, I spread my hero's out with flags and started attacking shiro since the lich went back down for whatever reason.
Once shiro started attacking me it was pretty straight forward. I cast mirage cloak as soon as it where's off and used only wild blow for attacks to save energy. Once he was dead, the lich was effortless.
I even forgot to reset the skills I disabled before fighting shiro as you can see in the picture but it didn't seem to matter.

I also got to the end with heroes and henchies with nothing left to do but kill Shiro and died. I killed the Lich (that's L I C H, people) straight off and then activated the shrines. Shiro does nothing when he's not hurt. Got all the shrines activated (which degen and eventually turn off, btw). Then laid into him. It was fine until he started using impossible odds. Lamest excuse for a skill ever in the history of GW. I know people got through this mission with heroes and henchies but this mission literally makes me not want to play this game now.
I have gone 8 times, twice with henchies and heroes, once with a friend and heroes, and 5 times with humans. To be honest, the human groups never make it past the first 6 aggros because they don't know how to focus fire. They also don't understand that the monk spells are healing for 15% less and therefore monks are casting more and therefore need more time to regen after each group.
People are stupid and I loath the fact that because I did not buy Factions so that I could cap like two skills for my necro that I can't beat this mission. Thought all of these were stand alone? Why should I need a Factions elite to beat NF?
BTW I heard an assassin talking about how mirrored stance and some other assassin skill (probably one that takes stances off wastes him). Yet another factions thing that I apparently need in order to beat this mission.
LAME.

LAME. A mission requireing a spefific build to beat is not lame, sorry, especially when even if you don't own factions you can unlock the skill from any priest of balthazar. I understand that failing repetively may be boring, but then the problem may come from you, not from the mission. Analyze where the problem comes from, and change your build accordingly, that's it.

OK, my final verdict on this mission is that it's challenging but easy
I did again with heroes/henchies just for the fun without SV, spoil victor and other boutique skills.
I killed Shiro at his home ground in the square at the centre of the various shrines without any blessings. I did not have to use flagging either. And it wasn't done using an exploit.

I agree with what has been said.Nightfall has been a pushover until now.It was painfully easy to hench every mission, and most quests, and get masters on every mission.Until this one.I like that it finally got challenging.I have yet to beat it.It is very hard to find a group as a dervish, let alone one where people focus fire and know to not aggro every enemy on the effin map.I don't have the SV skill for my necro heroes, nor do I have the means to cap it atm.I do have wild blow, and many prot skills for my hero monk.I have been trying to hero/hench it.Not one of us dies until Shiro.Lich is easy...The rest of this mission is a pushover if I take it slow, and dont over aggro!
I can't seem to figure out how to beat Shiro yet, but I get closer every time I try, and tweak my skills/hero skills. The first 2 days I was stuck here I did it over and over and got so pissed I just made it worse every time I tried.I find if I take a break and do a few quests, do r/l stuff, or work on another char, that when I go back calm I get closer :-) Don't let the mission get you so pissed that you figure the game is cheating! This entire game has been way easy.It was bound to have at least one rough spot, lol.
BTW I am still on it, if anyone wants to give it a go, hit me sometime on gw, IGN: Marok Rinta. But please, if you wanna give it a shot, none of that whiney business if we fail :-P Even if I beat it I would be happy to help someone :-)

unholy feast
shield of absorption
spoil victor (elite)
irene doesnt have to be a monk this is just what im comfortable using i used protect so he can support jerome . if ur gonna use a hero necro set him to defend and put him in a spot real close to where ur gonna pull shiro!
jerome(assassin/monk) i prefer sin cuz he can do dmg while wearing normal armor. a monk can also be used too!
skills:
12 healing prayers
11 protection prayes
10 dagger mastery
equipment:
full armor (u need to survive ti get to shiro)
55 armor (pieces w all sup runes on it)for swapping
totem axe and -50 hp offhand
any daggers of enchantingor zealous of enchanting
longbow for pulling
skills:
protective spirit 1
healing breeze 2
healing hands(elite) 3
mending 4
balthazars spirit 5
essence bond 6
live vicariously 7

tell them to not attck shiro just stay away like a couple of circles away from irene n jerome
put on ur 55 armor
cast skills 4-7
tell necro to put blodd ritual on YOU
pull shiro only once u see him start moving go back close to irene
note(shiros agro for sum reason is much bigger than lich so u can easlily pull him alone never agro lich cuz he can remove ur enchants
cast and maintain heal breeze protective spirit and attck shiro
tell necro to spam spoil victor on him
try not to use protective spirit @ the same time when shiro uses riposting shadows cuz it can interrupt you! when shiros hp is right about half like real close to when hes about to use impossible odds cast vigorous spirit cuz he really attcks so fast its like 15 mountain trolls attakcking @ same time while hes using impossible odds!just stay alive and let the necro do the damaging!
always spm spoil victor on him while hes really low on hp u will see him drop so fast!
ok now collect ur money from 6 other ppl and tell them ur all gonna kill lich now !! do not forget to put on ur full hp armor!!!
ps sorry if my english is not that good im south east asian! i would be honored if u call this build irene n jerome u can post this build on guildwiki as long as u name it irene n jerome if u need me to show u how it works pm me when im online and take me to shiro and ill kill him for u off course i accept tips platinum will really make me happy ! I used an Assassin/Warrior build to tank Shiro. Posted in this thread and in the Assassin forum. Zenmai completely punked Shiro out. Crit defenses with 15 crit strikes and way of assassin = 75% crit rate + 75% block renewed every 2 seconds and a ton of energy to contiuously fuel wild blow and wild strike.
You can't do better with a warrior, afterall its the lifestealing that is the problem. So who cares about armor?
A warrior or ranger would need to take like 3 stances to get the same perpetual evasion/block and manage them just right, or possibly take ripostes but either way multiple skills. And would not have the extra synergy from the crits and would probably have less stanc knocking.
Crit defense tank can maintain energy free 75% block rate forever with one skill since Shiro cannot remove stances or enchantments. They can also apply various other heals/condidtion removal/energy regen/bleed on crits in addition to stance knocking every 3 seconds and dealing very nice damage with a spammble 3 move combo that has wild strike as the off hand. Plus Wild Blow is a guaranteed crit every 6 seconds and feeds into the crit benefits.
The problem isn't assassins, the problem is people's misconceptions. Even though it is often the case an assassin is better served by sahdowstepping instead of tanking. In this particular case they are about as good a tank as you can get.

The problem isn't assassins, the problem is people's misconceptions. Even though it is often the case an assassin is better served by sahdowstepping instead of tanking. In this particular case they are about as good a tank as you can get.

Nop tryed again - failed ad again - failed...im neva gona do this mission!
Guardian of the Light
Well I just beat this with my dervish buddy (I'm a dervish too btw).
All we needed to do was activate all the shrines run into the middle (more room) then I got on one side of him and my dervish buddy got on the other and we ordered our heroes to spread out (posting points)
We had 3 monk heros (yes 3), 1 MM hero, 1 Spoil Victor nerco hero with Blood Ritual and empathy too, and I think 2 nuking eles.
Both me and my friend had WB.
The 3 monks + BR kept us up most of the time (except after my friend's Bal Avatar ran out during IO) and SV damaged Shiro a lot so it was fairly easy. Shiro went after the monks a few times but the monks kited him and he eventually quit and went to us or someone else.

Mirrored Stance is rumored to work. Shiro is not a "monster".
Anyway. This mission is BS.
No you can't unlock any skill for PvE at a Priest. Dunno whether it would unlock it for your heroes.
Done this mission now 10 times. Last tie I tried both the Kite out the front door method mentioned in another thread and got him down to literally [] that much HP and then he killed Koss, Devona, and myself and almost the rest of my team.
Then I tried the Flagging all over the place method. SAme thing. He killed Koss and Devona. Then went around to each flagged group and started killing one by one.
After 15 minutes of a stalemate and my DP getting worse and worse as we proogressed, I gave up.
This mission has made me hate this game. If you are going to make a game, it should be fun. ANET F'ed up by making a "stand alone" that requires another "stand alone" to beat it, IMO, and it really pisses me off.
If I see an ANET person in a dark alley, you better run cause I will chop block you in the throat.

Eclair
Just beat it with a Pug on the first try.
Two monks, me and Talkora.
No Spoils Necro (the guy brought a SS Masters of Whispers instead, but didn't seem to cast it on Shiro =/)
We just killed the lich, then ran around and capped the shrines as Shiro wailed on us (which was pretty pitiful). He really didn't do much damage until 1/4th life or so, when he started using battle scars and impossible odds (I think the warriors might have wild blowed him out of it). Lost he 3 tankerss (1 warrior and 2 dervishes?) a couple of times, but I just threw protective spirit + life sheath on them when he got back up.
The Paragon with the Masters didn't flag him far away enough, and got him killed a couple of times when Shiro used impossible odds. Other than that, he didn't seem to teleport around or anything, just stood his ground against our 3 melee attackers and we eventually just killed him.

Yo. Man thx for that information, it really works. I just finish owning Shiro and Lich in my 1st try , I used the same hero/henchmen you used.I basically copied everything u said to do, except i didn't get any blessing , just went straight for the kill. I couldn't believe i owned Shiro in like 1 min tops. Good thing i read this before i even tried to do with a PUG. Good stuff.

Glider of chaos
K, I finished this mission couple of hours ago, hero+hench way. This was my second try (1st one was couple of days ago, before I read this thread and I managed to get a wipe on Shiro’ken spawns %) )
Here goes setup and story:
I'm Factions-Nightfall only player, so there was no riposte or SS. I didn't bother to bring SV either.
Me: Paragon with "Never surrender", "Never Give Up", Angelic protection (I took this skill after reading this thread =) ), Leaders Comfort, Anathem of Flame and couple of spear attacks. I forgot about Wild Throw completely to say the truth.
Koss: Sword-Shield War. Build is nothing special at all %). Some random stuff (I dunno how to play War, to be honest) with Wild Blow (I spend my last Balthazar faction on it). I know I should give him Grenth Balance but I totally forgot about it and he went in with some random War elite.
Tahlakora: Mainly Prot. Not the best one, I suppose (when I go monking I prefer to go pure heal %) )
Jin: Read the Wind, Broad Head Arrow Interrupter.
Henchies: Fire, Earth, 2 Monks.
I made it to the bosses without too much trouble, here goes detailed description.
When Shiro'ken spawned, I rushed a bit forward, just past the point of spawn and 2nd spawn didn't bother to run to me (I dispatched them later, just to feel secure clearing the portals). On a side note, I forgot to disable Spirit of Favorable Winds in Jin's skillbar and she was too busy casting it in the beginning instead of interrupting Sliver armor but actually we made it without causalities.
Koss died couple of times at portals before I understood that he will be much safer flagged somewhere in the back when it's necessary to rush in, kill a wraith and run out before patrols return.
Lich died almost instantly and I went clearing shrines... The guy who said Shiro won't follow you into the depth of shrine rooms is wrong (I was flagging everybody in the darkest corner). Sometimes he does it, sometimes he does not. May be it's henchies fault as I feel they were willing to give him an extra kick in his b... oh, I mean chins just for the fun of it when he was about to leave. So, I lost couple of heroes and henchies while doing this but at some point Shiro felt an urge to stay at Monk shrine. May be he wanted to chat with a healer or something, dunno really. Due to this I had no any trouble with the rest of the shrines (somehow healer shrine was capped with 1 cleric staying alive).
So, I resurrected everybody, flagged them in the main room, lured Shiro and made sure Koss spams Wild Blow. Survivor cleric was dealt with, I put Koss under Angelic Protection and was busy /flex'ing in the middle or throwing an eventual shout like "Never Give up/Surrender". Everything was smooth until the last part. With IO Shiro started dealing TONS of damage and both my and Koss lifebars were going down pretty fast. Monks prioritiesed healing me over Koss and he died couple of times but was resurrected soon and was back haunting Shiro. Actually the trick at this point was to constantly flag the henchies away from Shiro so he won't wreak mass damage and get mass healing with IO+Battle Scars.
So, the basic tips for defeating Shiro are:
-Fast stance remover is a must.
-Only 1 melee character should be tanking Shiro, otherwise IO will deal too much damage
-Some protection (high block, evade rate or good damage reduction) is needed to keep tank alive.
-Do not try to condition spam Shiro - IO will transfer everything he gets to the tank. (I'm not sure abot Blind though)
Bottom line: I was able to do it with my so-far-from-perfect setup, so it's not impossible.
PS LOL, even my armor is not yet maxed - only chestplate and skirt are AL 80, everything else is 65. XD
PPS Abaddon mission is just boring... running around for about 20-30 minutes, non stop healing and killing weak mobs just to get a few more hits on boss... Sounds like a platformer game without platformer part -_-

Hi all, I henched the mission with my ele and ranger. This is what I bring:
Ranger - Savage Shot, Distracting Shot, Pin Down, Broad Head Arrow, Apply Poison + pet stuff. (As a result, Shiro was virtually immobilised the whole time Koss and Gerald hacked him),
HEROES
======
Koss - the usual Sever Artery, Galrath Slash, Gash, Sun and Moon Slash, Dragon slash, To the Limit, Wild blow.
Talhkora - RC Prot
Zhed - fire/lightning, with lightning javalin (for interrupt) + the usual fire+energy stuffs.
HENCHIES
========
2 Healers, 1 fighter, 1 paragon
During the final fight, I didnt start charging in and claim altars. I pulled Shiro outside and killed him first. I also disabled every skill of Koss except 'To the Limit', 'Dragon Slash' and 'Wild Blow'.
After killing shiro, enable all Koss skills again and go claim the altars.

Just my two cents.... Displacement (Ritualist) is a good skill to bring if you can get someone with it. At least it was for me.

Displacement will die instantly when Shiro uses Impossible Odds.

Not if you've got your heroes flagged just right and only one melee creature in his attack range.

Just finished mission solo using my nuker ele with henchies and heroes. I should smack myself because I didn't bring any degen skills. I wasn't able to nuke Shiro to death by myself when I exploited the bug. The best place to fight shiro is right next to the entrance. When you see one or more guys starting to die by impossible odds, prepare to make your heros retreat because shiro won't follow you beyond the entrance. It will also help if you make your heroes to stay away from shiro's agro point.
One to note that guildwiki didn't bother to mention is those mobs like Arms of Sanity who use Call of the Torment to multiply themselves like rats. Those guys are the worst. Not to mention that the map in guildwiki makes you confront those mobs. There's another way around where you don't have to face 4-5 of those guys.
Another thing that guildwiki didn't mention is that you have to kill the portal wraiths while no other mobs are within that agro point. There, you can quickly kill portal wraith and you have to prepare to run. It doesn't matter if you kill one portal wraith. Just kill a wraith(s), make your heroes fall back to a safe position and repeat.

It's somewhat interesting, that every single advice deals only with flagging heroes.
There's never: ask you ranger to pull, ask your monk to prot you, ask nuker to not use MS, or similar.
I'm not sure if there's a correlation, but could this mission really be a problem only when playing with heroes?
Just a thought.

not my job to prove anything... its a rush not a run so customers will have to be involved in following my tactics and such... but 38rushes 1loss
good odds if i say so myself..
