Gates of Madness Mission (Spoiler)
Stupid Shizno
did anyone care to think Anet made it this difficult to hench for a reason? they knew everyone would hench/hero the game...so make it difficult in the enad and you might find your self saying xx lfg.
AW Lore
finished it 4 times with hero/hench team, once i knew how to do it its a piece of cake.
check this thread here for tips for it.

the biggest tip is to not be balled up around shiro when he reaches the 1/4 mark.

didnt saw in Nighfall any mission except Domain of Anguish that couldnt be done with henchs and Heros.
If you cant do this mission, is problably because your team build is not correct.
Shiro is strong ???? mutch stronger was he in Factions
anyway Spoil Victor its a good key for do this mission, just remember to block all the other skills (shift key + skill) from necro so he will only use this on shiro but theres mutch more skills that work well here, other tip is dont let anyone in party except the warrior stay near Shiro after he gets near 1/4 health just get a circle far position around him

Stop saying this mission is easy, because it is NOT.
If it was easy would people make threads abuot it? Would it take months to complete? Just because some of you have the luck to get past does not mean that everyone does.
Find a group? Most of them have no idea what aggro management or Call to the Torment does. Games are supposed to be fun, not stressful. And stressful is what this mission is.
I have heard of people who are stuck here for months. And you say this mission is easy. "Aggro wisely" How can you aggro wisely when the monsters will follow you from halfway through the mission to the spawn point?
If you need to rely on luck or glitches to complete a mission, it seriously needs nerfing.
Most of the people requesting help for this mission do not want lucky people boasting in their faces.
You can call me a whiny loser or whatever. I have been called much worse for merely speaking my opinion. All I am saying is that this mission is impossibly difficult and there is a guaranteed failure rate on the mission. Nearly everyone says "your build is wrong" or "you're doing it wrong" but give vague ways to fix them.
Oh, and while I'm at it, is there anyone who can run me through this?

Quote: If you need to rely on luck or glitches to complete a mission, it seriously needs nerfing so, how is using aggro management a glitch or bug? i pull shiro away from the lich, and have him stay on the designated tank (my case, koss).

As hinted at above, it is my personal opinion that there is no real level of luck involved here, as much as there is a level of dedication to get the job done right the fist go around.

well, for the "vague" directions: my hero/hench settup mhenlo Khim odurra/herta eve koss morgan margrid me. Koss skills: 1wichever you want 2wichever you want 3wichever you want 4wichever you want 5wild blow 6 defensive stance (the one that makes you move 33% slower and doesnt get cancelled if you use a skill) 7 soldiers defense 8 rebirth morgan: 1.- barbed spear 2wichever you want 3wichever you want 4 consider placing the "You are all Alone" elite shout. 5 antem of flame 6 shields up 7 watch yourself 8 signet of return margrid. i tend to have her with as an interrupte with broadarrow head. odurra would be better than herta, as one needs to keep control on the aoe damage to minimize the chances of multiple torments going into the torment call skill. when attacking the torment creatures, focus on the rains of terrors first, then the scythes of chaos, then word of madness, then the paragons, and for last the warriors. make sure to keep a high damage skill reserved for the moment the torments go into that "trance". example of high damage skills: mesmer: spiritual pain at 15 domination deals 100. double that when they enter that stance. energy burn/energy surge 80 at 15. elementalist: ligthing orb, ligthing hammer, obsidian flame, meteor, crystal waves... warriors: eviscerate, executioner strike. silverwing/galrath slash. rangers: (havent finished it with a ranger, so im not sure of high damage skills on this side. assasins: shouldnt have much problem dealing finishing blows, twisting fangs as an ending combo could be nice. monk: word of censure, ray of judgement, signet of judgement. paragon: havent played enough to tell wich skills deal good damage dervish: havent played with this class yet, though avatar of balthazar could be handy, wearying strike. ritualist: never got to like playing this class, so not sure about it. all in all, if one class lacks the fire power potential to deal with the "trance" they can always resort to the ligthbringer gaze to use it. margrid is not really that needed, you can switch her for damage dealing skill. when reaching Shiro and the closed gate, as soon as it opens run right behind the shirokeens that spawn, and fight them there, as soon as they die another group will spawn, kill them. order priority: elementalist, monk, ritualist, others. im not sure but MAYBE you need to kill all the shirokeens, im not sure but i kill them all, when you kill this spawn, the way you came from should have a few shirokeens, kill them, once they are dead, more shirokeens will spawn, kill them again. once reaching the area were the lich talks, let him finish and spawn the portal wraiths, go counter clock, wait for the first spawn to move a bit away, then proced to target the portal wraiths first, kill them as fast as you can, after you kill the three wraiths, kill the enemies that are attacking you. move to the next wraith trio. there are 4 margonites in pairs scouting around, watch them carefully, the will leave a small opening of a few seconds where you can reach the wraiths unhindered, make sure everyone is fully charged and head on, kill the wraiths first then the margonites or they will respawn, fast. the next trio will be guarded by 2 torment creatures and one armagedon lord, watch their patrol, they should leave a window of a few seconds for you to smack down the wraiths, once they are dead, target the torment creatures, watch out for the call to the torment skill. once they both are dead, target the armageddon lord, remember that he will spawn monsters each time you kill an incarnation of his. the fourth trio shouldnt be much of a problem, it resembles the second trio, 4 margonites, in pairs, watch their patrol, go in and kill the 3 wraiths, then the margonites. now, for the last portal, that one is a bit dificult, as there are 2 or 3 torment creatures, 2 pain titans, i think a couple of margonites and a claw of terror. if you are unsure to do this, leave one party member with rebirth away from that area, watch the patrol carefully, when you see the opening (again, a few seconds) go in, kill the wraiths, and ran like hell with the tail between the legs, run towards the temple, if you have to hug the wall of the temple do so, at most, you should only face the titans, if you are lucky, you wont face anything. now for the bosses, i always pull Shiro first, then after him kill the lich. for shiro: the position before entering the small corridor that leads to them entrance 1 2 3 henchies 1 being koss 2 being morgan 3 being your third hero of choice. if you are a caster, consider being between 1 and henchies, if you are warrior or paragon, consider being the tank. now, uncheck wildblow and make sure its the only attack skill used. keep an eye on koss, specially once shiro reaches the 1/4 of life to manually use the defense stance, let him use the soldiers stance on his own, koss will make a great use of wildblow to negate the scars of shiro. now deal damage to him. if you are an interrupt ranger, you can try your luck and interrupt his IO (impossible odds), be advised you would have to do so, too many times, too often. its just a matter of patience to bring him down to 1/4. you can bring the third hero as a prot monk with guardian, aegis, and shield of absortion, this would greatly enhance khim protection as well as koss stances, it will come greatly handy against IO. before he reaches the 1/4, consider how has the battle gone, has he engaged and actually attacked the henchie group behind? if not, everything should go well and at most, only koss will die there, maybe several times, but in the end, shiro will die. after killing shiro, the lich shouldnt be too much of a problem, just interrupt his skill life vortex he uses when he reaches 1/4 and everything should go fine. now, if you want to get masters, thats another story. for more help check the next link http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Gate_of..._%28Mission%29 the mission is not "easy", i agree, but its not impossible to do, yes there will be deaths of party members, but with the strategy above i have a 90% success rate, i failed once because i forgot the wraith spawn and i moved to clear the second trio before they had appeared, so the second trio + the first trio + the margonites+the torments equal ouch I consider gate of pain more harder than this mission. Nothing is easy, to be sure; however, with proper preparations, patience, and teamwork, the rate of success for this mission (and anything in life, to be honest) will skyrocket.

To "aggro wisely" would be to find a relatively safe and stable location to pull individual groups to. It is entirely possible to do this in this mission, and relatively simple if the group spends a few minutes monitoring spawns and patrol routes beforehand.

I have successfully completed the mission with friends multiple times; personally, I don't think I'm that lucky (as my drops and recent PUG adventures are evidence of). I have always, and will always, attribute success of this nature to proper management and planning skill.

Actually, nobody can do that, as it would be considered flaming and would probably get them banned.

It is indeed your opinion, and you are welcome to it; however, please do not attempt to lay it down as fact. Quote:
