finished it 4 times with hero/hench team, once i knew how to do it its a piece of cake.

check this thread here for tips for it.

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10070424

the biggest tip is to not be balled up around shiro when he reaches the 1/4 mark.

If you cant do this mission, is problably because your team build is not correct.
Shiro is strong ???? mutch stronger was he in Factions
anyway Spoil Victor its a good key for do this mission, just remember to block all the other skills (shift key + skill) from necro so he will only use this on shiro but theres mutch more skills that work well here, other tip is dont let anyone in party except the warrior stay near Shiro after he gets near 1/4 health just get a circle far position around him

Stop saying this mission is easy, because it is NOT.

If it was easy would people make threads abuot it? Would it take months to complete? Just because some of you have the luck to get past does not mean that everyone does.

Find a group? Most of them have no idea what aggro management or Call to the Torment does. Games are supposed to be fun, not stressful. And stressful is what this mission is.

I have heard of people who are stuck here for months. And you say this mission is easy. "Aggro wisely" How can you aggro wisely when the monsters will follow you from halfway through the mission to the spawn point?

If you need to rely on luck or glitches to complete a mission, it seriously needs nerfing.

Most of the people requesting help for this mission do not want lucky people boasting in their faces.

You can call me a whiny loser or whatever. I have been called much worse for merely speaking my opinion. All I am saying is that this mission is impossibly difficult and there is a guaranteed failure rate on the mission. Nearly everyone says "your build is wrong" or "you're doing it wrong" but give vague ways to fix them.

Oh, and while I'm at it, is there anyone who can run me through this?

how sthat our fault that they dont know what that is or how to aggro properly?

Quote:

why would the monsters chase you that far? are you ignoring them or trying to run past them? the only moment when i have been chased by monsters for a long distance is at the wraith portals, when destroying the fifth portal i dont wanna fight the group there, i retreat towards the temple where shiro/lich are and only fight 2 out of the 5 monsters... most of the times.

Quote: If you need to rely on luck or glitches to complete a mission, it seriously needs nerfing so, how is using aggro management a glitch or bug? i pull shiro away from the lich, and have him stay on the designated tank (my case, koss).

Quote:
Nearly everyone says "your build is wrong" or "you're doing it wrong" but give vague ways to fix them. well, for the "vague" directions:

my hero/hench settup
mhenlo
Khim
odurra/herta
eve
koss
morgan
margrid
me.

Koss skills:
1wichever you want
2wichever you want
3wichever you want
4wichever you want
5wild blow
6 defensive stance (the one that makes you move 33% slower and doesnt get cancelled if you use a skill)
7 soldiers defense
8 rebirth

morgan:
1.- barbed spear
2wichever you want
3wichever you want
4 consider placing the "You are all Alone" elite shout.
5 antem of flame
6 shields up
7 watch yourself
8 signet of return

margrid. i tend to have her with as an interrupte with broadarrow head.

odurra would be better than herta, as one needs to keep control on the aoe damage to minimize the chances of multiple torments going into the torment call skill.

when attacking the torment creatures, focus on the rains of terrors first, then the scythes of chaos, then word of madness, then the paragons, and for last the warriors.

make sure to keep a high damage skill reserved for the moment the torments go into that "trance".

example of high damage skills:
mesmer: spiritual pain at 15 domination deals 100. double that when they enter that stance. energy burn/energy surge 80 at 15.
elementalist: ligthing orb, ligthing hammer, obsidian flame, meteor, crystal waves...
warriors: eviscerate, executioner strike. silverwing/galrath slash.
rangers: (havent finished it with a ranger, so im not sure of high damage skills on this side.
assasins: shouldnt have much problem dealing finishing blows, twisting fangs as an ending combo could be nice.
monk: word of censure, ray of judgement, signet of judgement.
paragon: havent played enough to tell wich skills deal good damage
dervish: havent played with this class yet, though avatar of balthazar could be handy, wearying strike.
ritualist: never got to like playing this class, so not sure about it.

all in all, if one class lacks the fire power potential to deal with the "trance" they can always resort to the ligthbringer gaze to use it. margrid is not really that needed, you can switch her for damage dealing skill.

when reaching Shiro and the closed gate, as soon as it opens run right behind the shirokeens that spawn, and fight them there, as soon as they die another group will spawn, kill them.

order priority: elementalist, monk, ritualist, others.
im not sure but MAYBE you need to kill all the shirokeens, im not sure but i kill them all, when you kill this spawn, the way you came from should have a few shirokeens, kill them, once they are dead, more shirokeens will spawn, kill them again.

once reaching the area were the lich talks, let him finish and spawn the portal wraiths, go counter clock, wait for the first spawn to move a bit away, then proced to target the portal wraiths first, kill them as fast as you can, after you kill the three wraiths, kill the enemies that are attacking you. move to the next wraith trio.

there are 4 margonites in pairs scouting around, watch them carefully, the will leave a small opening of a few seconds where you can reach the wraiths unhindered, make sure everyone is fully charged and head on, kill the wraiths first then the margonites or they will respawn, fast.

the next trio will be guarded by 2 torment creatures and one armagedon lord, watch their patrol, they should leave a window of a few seconds for you to smack down the wraiths, once they are dead, target the torment creatures, watch out for the call to the torment skill. once they both are dead, target the armageddon lord, remember that he will spawn monsters each time you kill an incarnation of his.

the fourth trio shouldnt be much of a problem, it resembles the second trio, 4 margonites, in pairs, watch their patrol, go in and kill the 3 wraiths, then the margonites.

now, for the last portal, that one is a bit dificult, as there are 2 or 3 torment creatures, 2 pain titans, i think a couple of margonites and a claw of terror.

if you are unsure to do this, leave one party member with rebirth away from that area, watch the patrol carefully, when you see the opening (again, a few seconds) go in, kill the wraiths, and ran like hell with the tail between the legs, run towards the temple, if you have to hug the wall of the temple do so, at most, you should only face the titans, if you are lucky, you wont face anything.

now for the bosses, i always pull Shiro first, then after him kill the lich.
for shiro:
the position before entering the small corridor that leads to them
entrance

1

2 3

henchies

1 being koss
2 being morgan
3 being your third hero of choice.

if you are a caster, consider being between 1 and henchies, if you are warrior or paragon, consider being the tank.
now, uncheck wildblow and make sure its the only attack skill used. keep an eye on koss, specially once shiro reaches the 1/4 of life to manually use the defense stance, let him use the soldiers stance on his own, koss will make a great use of wildblow to negate the scars of shiro. now deal damage to him. if you are an interrupt ranger, you can try your luck and interrupt his IO (impossible odds), be advised you would have to do so, too many times, too often. its just a matter of patience to bring him down to 1/4.

you can bring the third hero as a prot monk with guardian, aegis, and shield of absortion, this would greatly enhance khim protection as well as koss stances, it will come greatly handy against IO.

before he reaches the 1/4, consider how has the battle gone, has he engaged and actually attacked the henchie group behind? if not, everything should go well and at most, only koss will die there, maybe several times, but in the end, shiro will die.

after killing shiro, the lich shouldnt be too much of a problem, just interrupt his skill life vortex he uses when he reaches 1/4 and everything should go fine.

now, if you want to get masters, thats another story.

for more help check the next link
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Gate_of..._%28Mission%29

the mission is not "easy", i agree, but its not impossible to do, yes there will be deaths of party members, but with the strategy above i have a 90% success rate, i failed once because i forgot the wraith spawn and i moved to clear the second trio before they had appeared, so the second trio + the first trio + the margonites+the torments equal ouch

I consider gate of pain more harder than this mission.

Nothing is easy, to be sure; however, with proper preparations, patience, and teamwork, the rate of success for this mission (and anything in life, to be honest) will skyrocket.

As hinted at above, it is my personal opinion that there is no real level of luck involved here, as much as there is a level of dedication to get the job done right the fist go around.

To "aggro wisely" would be to find a relatively safe and stable location to pull individual groups to. It is entirely possible to do this in this mission, and relatively simple if the group spends a few minutes monitoring spawns and patrol routes beforehand.

Sadly, if you can't complete something, be it a PvE mission or PvP match, then your build is indeed wrong, or at the very least, the execution of such is incorrect. AW Lore has provided some excellent suggestions in the post above this, and I would highly reccomend you give them a go. Personally, I found that running [wiki]"You're All Alone!"[/wiki] on a Protection Prayers Monk (with Gift of Health, naturally) was quite helpful, for almost every battle throughout the mission.

I master the mission with henchmen and hero. I am Assassin, here is what I do:

Heros' build:
Sousuke : AOE damager and Lich Killer( Lich afraid of fire)
Meteor Shower, Rodgort Invocation, Fireball, Searing Flame, Glowing Gaze, Glyph of Lesser Energy, Fire Attunement, Aura of Restoration/ Rez. Signet

Zhed: Melee foe's pain (modification from my Sskai solo build)
Blinding Flash (must have), Enervating Charge, Empathy, Spirit of Failure,Elemental Attunement, Air Attunement, Aura of Restoration, Rez Signet

Olias:
Spiteful Spirit, Price of Failure, Insidious Parasite, Shadow of Fear, Well of Blood, Vampiric Gaze, Weaken Armor, Rez Signet.

Henchmen: Herta, Mhenlo, Kihim, Devona
Tips:
1 Lightbringer's Gaze, bring it and use as often as possible but it don't work on Shirokan, Portal Wraith, Shiro and Lich,

2 Pull or aggro only 1 group at a time.

3 Titan Abomination is weak but titans spawn from its death is a pain (especially Titan of Madness), so take down only 1 titan and until the 2 Titan of Madness was dead before you attack the other Titan Abomination

4 Call to the Torment will summon a Torment Creature of a same type to the battlefield but when foe perform the skill, it take double damage and foe only use it when it is at low health. Focus fire to kill or interrupt it.

5 Use Sousuke (fire nuker) to take down Tormented Claw. At long as no moving foe around he won't get hurt.

6 For Shiroken, take down Shirokan Elementalist first, they are the only thread in Shirokan group. Aslo one group at a time by station NPC afar and pull them with a long bow to your team.

7 Portal Wraith usually is stupid enough to left the portal and attack you, pullthem out so you will encounter less reenforcement from the portal. Watch out for Chain Lightning.

In the Temple:
1 Before enter the temple, set Zhed as aggressive mode, lock his target to Shiro, disable all spell except Elemental Attunement, Air Attunement, Aura of Restoration, and Blinding Flash. This will make Shiro unable to kill the team too quick.

2 Kill Lich first, Set Sousuke at aggressive and lock his target to Lich, make him throw all the spell on Lich and your group focus attack on Lich.

3 Run to all five shrine kill the Morgonite guarding it, awake the shrine. Keep Zhed alive and use Blinding Flash on Shiro

4. After all 5 shrine are waken, you will get all the blessing of Gods except Abbedon, run to the entrance of the temple. Enable Empathy for Zhed and take down Shiro with all the curses and hex. Try to remove Battle Scar often as possible and keep him blind, with Empathy, SS, Insidious Parasite and all the damage, Shiro will die in short times

~After killing the lich and capping all the shirns~

I think somoenes said this before but Impossible Odds is only good because of Battle Scars. Wild Blow is your best friend and savior.

I had to cancel ALL my other attack skills on Koss and just let him spam wildblow like maniac and Protectors Stance. My SS Echo Nuker repatidtly cast Empathy and SS on him and all my other heros just f***ed him up.

I did this misison 9 times before finally passing on the 10th. Besides the above all I can say is let Koss tank so that Shiro chooses him as a meat shield and keep your SS hero and your monk hero away from Shiro's blades but close neough to heal/cast.

Henched with
Koss
Zhed
Olias
Mhenlo
Khim
Eve
Cynn

Koss with wild blow (rest of build is useless facing shiro)
Olias with Spoil Victor( " " " "" "" "" )
Zhed :searing flames and meteor shower
Eve for blood ritual on the monks

LIke others said, pull everything, kill the lich take the 5 gods (mhenlo died 4 times and cynn 1 time during this period, blocked by shiro when turning round til we get areas) and go to the enter (and not Center^^), flag your heroes and henches far enough that they can fight Shiro and bodyblock him, block all skills from Olias and Koss except wild blow and Spoil Victor and fight !

Edit: in this case, Shiro doesn't move and keep fighting on the top on the stairs so shower is helpfull

I did it 3rd or 4th try with a PUG. Bring a necro with spoil victor, as was already suggested, and if you're playing your rit then bring shelter, union, displacement, and signet of creation. I did it with my rit and those spirits helped quite a bit. Kill the Lich and then complete the bonus: it's not hard if you just ignore Shiro. Lay down the spirits and have one tank focus attacking Shrio while spellcasters attack from a distance. The warrior elite "You're all Alone!" can help too.

Good luck!

if you dont want to spend money on your heroes, you could do some pvp (IF you pvp) to get some faction and unlock it through it.

have you created and played with other classes? consider playing with new and different classes, save with them some money, get to a skill trainer that has many skills and purchase them, once they reach 1k per skill, erase, re-create and buy the skills that are not unlocked, rinse and repeat for other classes.

Hero, henched it yesterday. Yes it is a difficult mission but with the right set up shiro is easy. Once the bonus is complete and the lich is dead, flag everyone out side, just out of shiro's range. Send in 1 warrior hero to aggro shiro.

Once shiro is only attacking your hero, activate bonnets then glads then bonnets etc etc. You can keep up a 75% block rate forever which makes the damge IO does easy for your henchies/heros to heal.

The key is getting your other party members out of shiros attack rage but within range of you, so they can heal you.

Hench + hero earlier today, with a few subpar builds. Mhenlo died a couple times before hitting the temple, but it was otherwise uneventless, as I took the beginning and portals really, really slowly.
Ganked the lich and flagged the AI around, capping each shrine. Somehow, at the fourth, the heroes and hench had gotten Shiro down to ~33% so I lost 3 people there. Had to clean the last one after some quick ressing, and there Melonni died and I was down one person (I was D/W, so was she for Wild Blow spammage).

I just fought Shiro at the last shrine. I was tanking him once he hit 25%, and we both died at the same time. I wasn't using Spoil Victor - just SS and Insidious Parasite.

Get the shrines, the bonuses dont really make a huge difference but do help.

And really they are no trouble to get as shiro is no threat at full health, and the shrines = bonus.

I henched it with my necro hero as SV, a paragon hero with buff skills (armour / energy), and tahkora as prot.

What i found really helped is when you face shiro turn off all the necro hero skills other than SV, (and blood rit if you have it), that way he will spam the spell he really needs to, rather than something useless. even with that i found it better to manually open his skills and make him spam SV.

The main thing is just to remember that shiro is no threat at full health, so get yourself in the right positions before you order your heros to go at him.

Hey just wanted to say Thanx to the Tips found in this thread. We beat this mission and Shiro turned into a wussie, he went down pretty quick.

Here's our Team Build and Strategy.
1-Assassin (Me) Jagged Strike, Wild Strike, Death Blossom, Seeping Wound, LB Gaze, 2-Healing, Rez.
2-Ranger (Guildmember) Barrage and Interrupts.
3-Koss (My Hero) Evis-Axe Build, Wild Blow and Watch Yourself, Heal Sig, Rez.
4-Master of Whispers (My Hero) SV NEC
5-Olias(My Hero) SS NEC
6-Henchy Paragon
7-Henchy Monk
8-Henchy Monk

We pretty much followed the trail to the gate using map on Wiki.
At the gate I flagged both NECS on the Corners and flagged Koss just outside gate. I then flagged Henchies back middle in order to heal everyone. I kinda roamed between Koss and Monks. I pulled him up and he stayed on Koss the entire time. I jumped in on occasion to hit Wild Strike but quicly got out and kept Seeping Wound on him. He dropped pretty quick and his Impossible Odds was useless since Koss was only in there..

The rest of the Mission was easy Kill Lich get Bonus if you want Masters.

Trust me, nobody should need this mission run. Use Bonjela's method on the top of page 12 and you literally only have to do two things, place Koss's flag and place a flag for the rest of your henches. About a minute and a half and you win, no joke. I just went through the mission, took probably over an hour doing a mission that should take 30 minutes because I'm extra cautious and I was scared to death that I'd get near the end and then mess up, watching all the time I spent to get there go down the toilet. Even I couldn't mess up this strategy, it was so pathetically simple. My first try, might I add.

Everyone's looking for the foolproof method to do this, well that's it.

Hmm, got wiped first time through due to not knowing all those Shiroken would spawn but second time got through relatively easily by following the wiki walkthrough - namely pummeling the Lich into submission before running around the shrines collecting blessings then having one tank and many ranged attackers taking out Shiro. Because there were only 3 humans and the rest were heroes we spaced them out a bit so it was only Koss getting whacked. Seemed to work

1) Don't bring too many healers. Yes, I know, you're wondering already. However, with too many healers, you can't do enough damage to kill anything.
2) Make sure to bring some support cast. You can't all be nukers, etc.
3) Be smart about what you pull. Since healing is penalized, don't over aggro.

Tonight, I got my 7th different character beyond the Gate of Madness (the other 6 finished the game, couldn't with the Paragon tonight since I had to go to work.

Speaking of Paragons, a command paragon really helped on this one. With maxed command, I was running "Stand your Ground" and "Incoming" at the same time, making the damage from Shiro manageable. Our group was:

A Rit, with 2 monk heros
A ranger, with a Koss hero
Me, with a Koss hero
An SS

never understood the problems with this mission. hero/henched it my first time through with a dervish. brought dunk as prot, jin as full interrupt, and zhed as an air/warder, along with the prot hench, the earth hench, the para hench, and i think mhenlo (not sure). heavy on the healing i know, but no one died so whatever. and i guess i did it backwards from what everyone else seems to do too. i pulled shiro out of the arena, pinned him against a corner, and just blasted him with the focused fire of the party, using wild blow to break his stance. then i ran in and blasted the lich in about 30 seconds. i think my way took longer than some others methods (think it took a couple of minutes of focus fire to drop shiro) but no one died and i didnt have to worry about human players.

Shiro isn't bad at all so long as you have a means to kep him blinded. Again I'm pimping EDA, hands down my favorite dervish elite. I laid into his ass with it and my group destroyed him in no time flat. He got a couple of lucky hits in it but once I had joined combat with him and kept on him he never got the blind off long enough to do any real damage. The problem is, if you take the blinding route, that he can transfer that condition to your party, but if you can keep it on him then this shouldn't be a problem since he has to actually hit someone to transfer the condition.

I had a discussion with the rit from my game yesterday. When he brought his mesmer thru, Signet of Midnight apparantly worked EXTREMELY well against Shiro. Just a little FYI.

Round 2: built Norgu as anti-Shiro (should've had WW, hmm!), turned Olias into a Spoil Victor bot instead of an MM, and had Melonni along for Wild Blow. I ran a simple sword build with Wild Blow, Barbarous Slice, Charge, and Gash, as I wouldn't be in a stance.

After cleaning out the rifts, I couldn't aggro the Lich, and Shiro was itching for a fight, so I had to kill him first. He really is no threat until Impossible Odds is activated. When he did hit 25% he took out Melonni really quickly (I was down to about ~100 HP) and the rest of the party was badly bruised.

Tip: since Shiro has a limit to his aggro range, pull out if you're going down, and regen up. That's what I did. I kept the AI back and tanked Shiro until he died with a mighty mighty 34-damage Gash.

I think peeps are wasting time trying to help guys do this mission, in nextmonth they will be here saying again that they cant do mission and reason for that is simple.

They dont really have a clue how to use skills in game or setup theyr character and heros, like a monk i tryed to help as warrior and first thing he did was call me noob because my warrior was without mending on skill bar, problably this guy is still on gate of madness trying to get a party to join.

Peeps that have start GW in Nighfall are with serious problems because game is easily done with heros and henchs and they never had the experience of do FoW, SF, Rotscale, Glint, Underworld, Deep or Urgoz, my advise to this guys is go wiki and read a lot on skills and builds section, ive see more then 20 builds post on this post that were enough for 2 shiros on same mission and honestly if you think this shiro is hard try to go factions and face it on last mission, or try to get Linch on Gate of abadon

I have never really had a problem with shiro in nf and I do it with a hero/hench group though.

I always bring a war, mesmer and necro hero though with the 2 monk henchies. Then depending on what class I am I pick the others. Usually a dervish and devona or something else that isnt mass dmg.

This is the builds I use to get thru

Mesmer
Norgu or Masters of whispers
Signet of midnight, cry of frustration, signet of disruption, leech signet, power spike, power drain, complicate, empathy

Necro/monk
Spiteful spirit, insidious parasite, price of failure, parasitic bond, draw conditions, remove hex, res sig, resurect

necro can be changed but keep ss

Also spirit of failure will dmg when norgu/whisper blinds him

Spoil of victor works too

War henchie sword
Coward, wild blow, sever artery, final thrust, healing signet, watch yourself, endure pain, res sig

War axe
Furious axe, critical chop, eviserate, disrupting chop, wild blow, watch yourself, endure pain. Res sig

Paragon
Visious attack, merciless spear, barbed spear, aria of restoration, stand your ground, incoming, fall back , res sig

Notes: have a paragon, mesmer, 2 war, necro, 2 monks, dervish

strategy.. as for the portals take out the portal wraiths always first. There is actually a timing to that whole place and it makes it very simple. I do portal to right when I first come in then the then i pull the two titans while standing at left wall. Then I take out left wall portal. Then you go back to the right and take out the portal that was behind the first one. Then you wait until the bigger titan does his ptrol and you pull him to where you just took out the last portal. Once he down go in for portal on right by gate and then go do the left portal and you done.

Now for the Lich and shiro what I do is use Fallback and run to the first shrine to the right and kill those mobs then I take out lich. Once lich is done keep using fallback and heal and run to each shrine. With that shiro will also stay behind for a bit in the middle until he comes after you again. Once all shrines are done let shiro have it. You may not have a paragon so charge will work but then ya dont have the healing and that healing is nice as you are running away.

This is a very tough mission, yet very manageable, especially if you use the guide from Guildwiki:

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Gate_of..._%28Mission%29

I found it much easier using henchies/heroes with this guide...with pugs I ran into alot of trouble with unnecessary agro, and improper targeting. With proper focus and targeting it's completely doable. Abaddon was a breeze after this one...

What can I say? their are so many who may or may not be that good but given mean talk to those who willing to learn and try to be good.

these Noob-caller love talk people downto feel superior. I am sick of them. maybe it is time for the community to boycott and ignore these people so they will quit and go talk people down in other places.

OK I am an old dude who has done this quest about 100 time and failed each and every time. I got CLOSE tonight with Koss/Master/Dunkoro/Devona/Sogolon/Kihm/Eve, but still got spanked by Shiro. This is my main character (my only 20) and I only have 4 elite skills. I spent a lot of my ching on full 15K armor and am giving my heroes gold weapons if I have them for their respective classes. Tonight I SOMEHOW pulled the Lich solo and kicked his hiney fast, but Shiro....I can only get him to about 1/3 of his hp's and then he just beats us down. Anyone have any OTHER helpful hint other than what is posted already? I am going to scream if I don't beat this mission. (I can only imagine the one after this one...sigh)

For me he always double strikes everyone for 200 + 200 damage and that pretty much wipes the whole party, blind or not. Even his standard attacks deal 100+ damage.

kill lich, take over shrines , then do shiro.

If that dont work get some people in a group and go do it that do have the necessary skills. I posted a few threads above how to beat this easily.

Ok....FINALLY did it. BONJELA's plan works well. I just didn't have the correct combination of heroes and henchies. I used Zhed/Koss/Dunkoro/Kihm/Devona/Sogolon/Eve. I am a Monk/Warrior and tanked with Koss and Devona to the bosses. Then just follow Bonjela's directions. Place Koss at the door way and hope your monks can keep up with the damage. I went defensive and helped keep Koss and Devona alive. The key is don't put the remainder of your group too close to combat or you are toast.
