protector of ascalon title

Yeh, well that was taken off the page for a while and the poster initially banned for hoaxing. The guy talked to me ingame and got a screenshot of the track and mailed it to me while we were speaking. There has since been screenshots of at least 3 H menus, plus the displayed title from the level 20. It could all be an elaborate hoax but I doubt it.. how much more proof should be gathered?

The addition of a new track has not be mentioned in the updates, but how often do they miss stuff out? It seems to be a reward for the few pre-sear nuts who got their characters to level 20.

No hoax ref my screen shots, and easy to prove yourself, just go to pre and do the quests until lv 8 then go over the wall until lv 12 when the title progression will show. It only takes 1 day and then you will see it for yourself

hmmm I like to give this a try. I wouldn't mind making a Presearing character.

People have told me Mo/Ele is the best for Pre-searing character.

But what skill bar?

I would think a hammer W/R with a pet would be the best. Might want to leave the pet at home if you're leveling a moa at the shrine hehe.

any class is good for presearing and fighting over the wall, but for your 2nd class monk for the smite skills or ranger as you can use your pet to tank over the wall when you first start to lv up as it is faster to kill charr until you get no more xp from them. Here is a old guide to help you

Did you ever desire a top level character in pre so you could lord it up?
At one time you could get to lv 20 in pre with a lot of hard work and letting the charr kill you, sadly this has now been changed and the max level you can get in pre is 16. Don’t believe me? Here is how you do it.


1) First don’t do any quests until later, you will need the xp to get to lv16

2) When you first start go outside and kill the skale and any aloe seeds.

3) When you get 5 fins get your belt pouch from the collector outside ascalon and go inside sell all your treasure and repeat step 2 until you get to lv 2 or 3.

4) After lv 3 move south towards Ashford Abbey and kill bandits and worms

5) Now you can do the first profession quest to get the main skills, only the first one.

6) At this stage I like to get some secondary profession skill, you don’t need to complete any quests to get them so do not complete the quest yet.

7) Now I like to move my character towards Foibles fair and hunt some ice elementals for the ice loadstones. When you get 5 swap with the collector for your armor upgrade, he can be found just outside Foibles Fair.

8) Zone to Ascalon and go out and head to the West towards The Barradian Estate. On the way kill Aloe for the seeds, save them for the collector in Fort Rank who has your next armour upgrade.

9) Zone to Ashford and once outside move to the East to Fort Ranik. On the way kill the spiders for the legs.

10) Once in Ranik get your Armour upgrades (2) and sell any treasure

11) Now you can take a 2nd profession (make sure you do all the 2nd profession trainers quests for the xp) should be 5 quests not counting your main profession i.e Ele, ranger, war, Monk, Nec, Mes. A good 2nd profession for a pre character is Monk for the smite, Ranger for the pet or my fav a ele as fire storm this still works in pre .

12) Now you can get your last armour upgrade, go to the Ashford abbey and enter the Catacombs. Kill the gargoyles for the skulls and trade with the collector who is just before the Exit that leads out of the catacombs and into Wizards folly.

13) Get a weapon made for you in ascalon and any good caster offhand items.

14) Now find a Friend and go over the wall, If you need I have a high lv Monk in pre who can join you or my necro.

15) Fight charr till level 12, at this stage the fastest way to lv up is to just kill the main Charr who are at the shrine.

16) Repeat step 15 But be prepared to be bored as after lv 12 things will start to take time as you will only get xp from the 4 boss at the fire shrine.

17) Once you hit lV15 you will no longer get xp from here but now you can complete all the pre quests, main skill quests and secondary quests until you get to lv 16.

18) Congratulations you just made your own Lv16 pre character.

you can get lv 20 again but this guide is still valid.

Wow. I took my mesmer out of pre at 20 way back when. I wish I could go back to get this title. That is a fun title and indeed gives reason to stay in pre.

We just need one lvl15 boss hiding somewhere in the Catacombs..

edit - I guess a 14 would do.. no need to get more XP once you hit lvl20!

Seems odd to me. It seems you cannot possibly get both survivor and legendary ascalon defender. Of course this is easier to get... unless you power level, that is.

man, I got bored with my Necro when I got her up to level 9 in Pre. Don't know if I'd have the patience for thid title.

Still pretty cool, though.

It would totally kill off someone wanting survivior .

Here's one problem I have with it: The screenshot showing the title progress (http://img95.imageshack.us/my.php?im...rprooftif8.jpg) is a *** SPOILER ***. Why would ANet tell you in Pre-Searing what is coming ? Now, obviously, we all know about the searing, but it doesn't seem right that ANet would show that on a pre-searing character.

Also, instead of screenshots that can be doctored, why don't the holders of this title specify a time where people can check it out for themselves and put an end to all this back and forth.

I, personally, do not want to take the time to level up a character in pre-searing - that is what forums and wiki are for ... to find readily available information without laboring to find it yourself for hours....

It's not impossible. The "old method" that Anti used to hit 20 is no longer possible because of the AOE last year. The new method is really slow, but still possible.

It's been stated in this thread that, since monsters no longer gain levels from killing players, that you cannot get past level 16 in presearing. I'm not going to argue the veracity of either claim, I'm just saying that I do know for a fact that pets no longer level by killing you, and I do know that if all the quests total 10k xp that isn't not enough to get you to level 20 after you can no longer gain experience from killing the Charr.

However you can feel free to enlighten us all as to what the "new method" is for obtaining level 20 in presear

capable pets can still gain levels, most are using the moa bird outside Ashford

monsters still level you obviously did not thuroughly read this thread
