Walking is cool. If I see a fine lookin' female I don't wanna be running over to her. That makes me look desperate. I'm not saying I am not desperate, I just don't want her to know that. So I casually walk over and slip her a line, "I like your shoes. How about dinner tonight?". I don't wanna run over there and pant that out with the last of my breath. That would look wierd.
Although saying that. The walk featur would probably be a robot style prance.

Use Dolyak Signet if you want to walk. If you actually want walking in town; then it sounds like you spend too much time in town and should delete any characters beyond pre-searing right now.

/signed for movie reasons and gives it more of an mmo feel, which guild wars really needs. Even though I know its not an "mmo", but still dosn't hurt to come close to one.

You could even give it an ingame use, like if you walk though coral, you dont take the damage.

While it's nice and good just for the effect, not sure how often it'll ever get used. Might be better to work on something else.

Just give us the current animations. Who cares about sliding? That adds to the fun.
Just give us an ability to toggle a slow spell on us that simulates walking. Doesn't take long to do at all and it would satisfy everyone who wants it. Anything else that modifys speed would just replace it.

I actually like it when my warrior is crippled. Why? Because I get the cool over the shoulder hammer walk.
There is another reason though, it is a tad more needy sounding. "The npc's can do it, why can't I!?" ^_^

I'm currently @ 123 minutes in scarred earth versus a heroway who can't kill me, and I'd love this to taunt them. Rest of my team's been dead for two hours lol.

I remeber walking way back in presearing ascelon, my first or one of my first char. When I would run into the unvisible wall atop the cliff at the town infront of Sardelac Sanitarium I remeber my hereo stoped the running animation and walked while I pushed him into the wall.
This made him put the large hammer on his sholder which looked really cool and relaxed in a imposing(I thread softly but carry a big mace!) way.

I think we should be able to have our weapons shown in towns and outposts, not being held but rather in slings or sheathes(that spelled correctly?). This could open way to some new emotes, such as /threaten, where the character pulls out the weapon slightly, and gives a menacing look. I do realize that this is not even remotely close to walking, but I can't find any other threads for this.
The walking thing could be an option, like in Runescape, where you select it in the options menu, but minus the certain amount of running time. Then, people can run around frantically, or stroll, enjoying the pretty flowers and nice breeze... Then go and kill things! Hooray for long pointy things!

Walking, however, is a good idea, along with improved pathing, so that if going toward the traders in Droks, for exampe, you dont get hung up on a NPC, like when coming from the footbridge, you often get stuck on the dye trader I think it is. Whoever is on the left coming that way.

it'd be something cool i'd do once in a blue moon, and i'd rather them spend time programming additional features or areas than this, but if anet is bored enough, then have them do this...

I hate snares, why should I want to snare myself? No but seriously, I don't see a use in walking. Going around a town, from the point where you spawn, to the Xunlai Agent, to the merchant, to the Armor Crafter etc already takes some time, depending on the town you spawn in. Why should I want something that makes this even take longer? I really don't see a use in walking, as running is already painfully slow sometimes. Even an "optional walk" would have little to no use imho, because once you "figure out" that the only thing it does is make you lose time, you're not going to use it again. And I hope that if they add an option like this, it will only be available in towns and outposts.. it would be the perfect way to annoy people in PUGs.

Yes, eeeeveryones a warrior, ain't they? Ain't they? Never knew skills work in town [/sarcasm]

OKAY OKAY OKAY, I'll be fair. How about a trade off:
Design an extra-extra-extra-dirt-cheap alcohol that not only causes the drunken effects, but makes you walk; and consumption of 5 makes you stumble around and yell "OH MAN, I AM LIKE, SO WASTED!"

Good to know that the idea appeals to many, and fun to see how others feel the need to sputter mostly irrelevant and/or inane tripe just because they disagree. For the reading comprehension challenged, the feature in itself already is in the game, albeit situational. Assigning it to a key to be activated at will wouldn't harm you, make you lose ectos or cause you to forcibly crawl around town. I acknowledged that walking isn't needed, nor a priority, but assumed (apparently rightly) that many would enjoy the option.
