if the worst comes to it, you could always go for the tried and tested "leaf bra" approach

I've seen your other drawings, should be able to do so, but try this:

1 hour to choose a god, 1 hour to choose a pose, rest of the time to work it out

Good luck to everyone in this final stretch of the contest.

i've recently made a decision that the final vote will be decided by myself not by poll. I do not know any of the contestants personally so my judgements will be completely unbias.
I will judge the pieces individually based on how well the style has been used and effort made. Along with other critieria that shall not be specified.
I decided on this because a poll would be a futile method of judging. Since each piece is made in a different style using a different method. Its unfair to compare them in such a manner, it would be like comparing the wind and water they are very different things.

I hope everyone understands I have made this decision as a matter of fairness for each contestant and piece of art.

Greetings everyone! I like the theme and the entries I've seen so far, so I thought I'd put up my own unfinished entries for you to see!

Now, call me crazy, but I've decided to complete four entries.
So here are the rough sketches I've done (I reduced them so it would be easier to see than at the size I work with them.)

First off, we have Balthazar hammering away at his sword on anvil rock. (I didn't have enough space on my page to draw the hammer, i'll add that in later)

Next, Dwayna and Grenth will be put in the same drawing. Don't worry, I'll find something to cover up Dwayna with.

Now for Lyssa, I'm basically going to...well, you'll see. It's hard to explain anyway.

Last but not least,
Melandru holding a gi-normous bow. I can picture Echovald (pre-jade wind) in the background.

Well there you go, I hope they all meet the criteria, and that I'll be able to actually finish em all.

Good luck to all!

@The Thing: Your art is fine with me. Considering the number of your entries I won't mind granting you an extra time after the closing date if you require it.

Would it be a personal extension or an extension for the contest as a whole. If it's the former, it seems a little unfair, if it's the latter, I think it would be nice to know as soon as possible, so people can make decisisons on how many pieces they can finish.

Personally, I think that the 2-3 months we've had is plenty long enough ^^

Nice sketches, would love to check em when worked out...

You know participating in the contest is a win win for me If I don't win someone with a better drawing wins = I can learn from it = also good for me

As for the time... I'm working on a black/white worked out drawing right now... but entering more...might take a bit more time...

But Imo, finishing a painting/drawing can be done in 3 days... so there shouldn't be need to make the deadline later..

I like the the angle you've taken on it. It reminds me of the Norse gods. Specifically Thor.

Ill offer some critical comments on that one make use of it

The hands are too small (especially left one), the right hand should be a bit more to the right so it actually grabs the swordpommel instead of grabbing air.. also, from the point of view u have taken I would make the knees a little bigger and higher, and give him big shoes

This picture definately has a winning potential though now some stormy background

Good luck on it (I was in doubt for a short moment, give advise or try to win myself :P guess the good in me always wins ^^)

@greyf0x_f0x: You might want to read the rules a bit more closely.

Really curious to see what you can do when you paint this though =D

I did my melandru with a 10 year olds waterpainting set turned out pretty well (though not as good as I wished for I blame my school for stealing my time though)

I'd do balthazar in silver + wood + orange/red I think ^^

I am so entering this contest. I have two drawings so far, and right now i'm working on one of Lyssa. There's sure a lot of competition though...all the entries i've seen so far are great! I love the lyssa one...the one by greyf0x_f0x.

As said I think it looks great, but looks something more dark like two female necromancers or something similar. I suppose that comes down to how you see Lyssa as a god. I admit a lot of my inspiration came from the quote about statues of lyssa so beautiful, that they captivated men to the point that they would die of thirst. I suppose I was going for "Lyssa the Siren" in this image

*bows to Nith47*

If you don't win the contest out of all the entries so far, it's an injustice >_>

I'm still contemplating entering a Dwayna ^^

the hands seem rather weak in proportion to his arms /body how is he ever gna smash something with such a huge sword in such small hands? ^^ ... BUT as I check it again.. I see that the hand size matches with the head... just the arm is very tough.. so don't enlarge the hand, but make the fingers sturdier and the hand as well (make em look more dwarflike)

Oh and the sword is a bit too big for my liking :P but thats just taste so ignore that ^^

Some unreal lighting shades as well.. but neglicible for the normal human eye (the red reflection on the hair to the right of the right skulls can't be red, the light is blocked, unless he doesnt stand straight, which would mean the shadows on the shoulderpads wouldnt be right)

But!!!

Don't take this criticism on too hard... your drawing is absolutely fabulous I love it ^^

I just guess u like constructive comments too bad I cant do stuff with the computer (my good computer is being fixed currently) and I can't change stuff in my drawing that easy :P still some things I'm not satisfied with, but no way to change it anymore ^^... great comments, thank you =D

Yeah, at this point changing the cape means changing the robes and that is too much of a hassle - and just having the hair hang vertically doesn't work for me. Also I've got a lot of vertical lines in the lower half of the piece which i feel add to Balthazar's towering presence, once i break those lines (ie diagonal blowing cape) it almost seems to "box" him in and diminish his presence.

I just think of his hair as tilting off his neck guard

I've had several people comment on the hands being to slender and not "dwarfish" enough, so I will probably tweak them a bit.

I did a lot of things with the lighting that i cannot justify

Thanks again for the critique

P.S.
That's what is so damn cool about traditional painting, you have to be way more confident, you can't just ctrl+alt+z
