If It's Customized, Make it Customized!

First off, hi, I'm Xenolord. First time here.

On to Business: Weapon customization, to me, is pointless. Sure you get the plus twenty percent to damage, but to me, that doesn't make it customized. Now, this thought has been milling around in my head for a while, but I've never gotten around to voicing it. What if you could name customized weapons? Like, turn the Fiery Dragon Sword of Defense into Trogdor the Burninator(R), Or, in my case, my Ebon Mursaat Hammer of Fortitude into The Hammer of Justice.

The ability to name weapons (For a minimal fee, of course, and only once.) Would make weapon customizations a whole lot more... interesting. Right, well, that's the idea.

Well, id accept this, except people will name their fiery gladius swords "Lightsaber" and then ctrl-click spam all the time. Of course, it would be cool to rename my weapon, and this will probably happen anyway, considering how anet works.

Yea, well that's the risk you run. Where ever there are intelligent people, I always say, there's bound to be the noob-spammer.

Besides, if all-else fails, that's what the ignore list is for! (Mine grows daily)

I like this idea. I'd also love for a little panel (similar to Asheron's Call) where you can write a little note on the weapon. Would be really nice, especially if it was to be given as a gift.

Or the Schwartz *shivers*

I'm all for it, just as long as there's a similar reporting system for offensive weap names as the system for reporting character names...

I agree. We should have a pre-determined list of unallowed names. Such as:

Lightsaber
The Scwartz
1337 Longsword of Pwnage +1337
Hammer Rin the Ladies (Shiver)
Your Momma (After all, who wants to see "I'm wielding Your Momma...")

That's all I can think of...

This was mentioned before, and people rose some good points. People will name their weapons are horribly stupid names like "THE SWORD OF PWNAZORING!!!" and then just spam it.

Someones suggestion was make it so only you could see it, but then that makes it pointless to name it.

Aw, come on? Who hasn't secretly always wanted to be able to say to someone, "I see your Schwartz is as big as mine" ?

And then you could counter it by swapping in your Shiro and Varesh mini-pets. "No! I didn't see you playing with your dolls again, SIR!"

Mabey a problem to solve al of these is to limit spamming. They have it in town so why not have the option or have the enitre game only allow you to spam something 3 or 4 times before it says "Please wait and try again" or whatever it says in town if you spam something or have a conversation with someone and you just happen to type fast (>.<) Dont you just hate that when you can type fast and it blocks you when your trying to buy something or tell someone something. Anyway I digress

Welcome to the forums.

This has been suggested many times before. Read stickies^^.

Anyway, bad idea for custom weapon naming. If you spam out what weapon it is you're holding, theres a good chance someone's going to ask you "where did you get that green from?"

I think this is a good idea, but it would cause the servers to have to hold more data. Dunno if that accounts to lag.

Welcome to the forums,

btw

Sword of a Thousand Truths

It all depends on how much of the code needs to be changed to make this worthwhile. If this is popular in the first place to warrant a change.

Everyone in my guild knows the names of my weapons anyway.

they fear the wrath of "ROCK ON A STICK", which is my ruinic hammer

used to be something other than rock, but I changed it

my sword and shield are greens anyway

and I dont need to rename an iteam to get a humourous call, I just pull out my banana sythe

I actually always wanted customization to allow for a bit of style design to it... But the current game model really is not equipt to handle that...

Even better to me is requiring some materials to make the weapon amped up more. Lets say you have a Axe with a Prefix, suffix, and Inscription on it, and for a fee you can customize that weapon into a special unique green based on your Character name. However it would STILL be customized so not for sale. But if you took the time to craft a high quality weapon from all your drops and upgrades, The blacksmith should make it a permanent weapon for your use.

well Its just a thought... Alternatively I wanted to make the customization process based on account rather then character. But that was pretty much dismissed as not going to happen... I guess its lucky the heroes can used our customized stuff in the end. So we do have that to be thankful for. I just wish the blacksmith actually did something blacksmith like. Or had more purpose in the game. Like selling upgrades is need be... Though I am not really too interested in that, Its another idea that always seems to pop up for them.

I like the idea, anything that means more customizing, is always fun.

But people have to look at pros and cons. Might be a bad idea since it'll increase the dreadful ctrl click "Look at me,me,me 100 times!"
