To stop the problem with accounts being ruined. Anet could add a feature that makes you put in a whole new password if you want to delete your character. This would save a lot of peoples long hard earn characters.

They also could make it so you have to also enter another password to play the character. This would save their players from losing their items.

One more thing would be a system that would tell you when you login last so you know if someone has been getting on your account or not.

So please sign if you like the ideas.

It's not their fault people accounts are stolen, why should they spend money to fix other people's problems?

Don't give out your password or download third party problems. For a secure password, chose one at least 12 letters long that contains a combination of numbers and letters.

Problem solved.

More passwords are not gonna solve this problem.
Its the password that was guessed/logged or just stupid one that caused the problem in the first place.
Even if they did this you know what most people ( especially the ones that get stolen in the first place ) would do? they would make theyr account password : "youllneverguess"
Their first character pass : "youllneverguess1"
Second character pass : "youllneverguess2"

More passwords is not the solution , please stop suggesting it, think of something else.

I work in tech support / issues with username and passwords especially come up and people have hard enough time remembering one, let alone a secondary they rarely use. I don't think it would work out too well. Nice idea but

I don't support this suggestion. As previously stated, more passwords won't solve anything. It only makes things MORE complicated.

There was this game I played about 6 years or so ago (dead now) that in order to delete characters or make any sort of account changes, you had to enter in your birthday, which is the most secure character deletion prevention method I've seen. Other games like Gw make you type in the name of the character or simply type yes. I would propose something like this instead of another password, because if you forget your own birthday, you don't deserve to play an MMO. Now, there are drawbacks to this (like if your friend stole your account, but they're a bad friend if they did), so if nobody likes that maybe you could have a question. Basically exactly like a password recovery question would be, but it asks this whenever you want to delete a character. Obviously you would make it personal, something that people don't know about you, and probably change cases or switch a couple symbols in. There's my two cents on the subject.

Your hearts in the right place, but if they can crack one password I bet they can crack another to get at your character.

For PvE chars: how about a timer for deletion? It only deletes after 2 days ( long enough to retrieve your account, no?

I won't remark about stolen accounts, but for accidental deletions, I think the easiest way would be to remove the confirmation for deleting PvP characters. For people like me that delete their PvP chars all of the time, we would only see the confirmation if we accidently select a PvE.
