GW:P because we could farm back then !!

But I guess Nightfall is the best because it has the most polished content.

Prophecies, because it was new and refreshing back then.
Factions and Nightfall are excellent games too, just more of the same.

Prophecies was simply the game we took our time learning it. We took our time playing it. We took our time exploring it. Nowadays players prefer to play by the “mad dash” method while using the “head against wall” playing technique. Players quickly pack pugs, heroes, henchmen and try to fly though the game. Problem is, the torment stops this head over heels playing style far too late. Should have been the case right after the tutorial.

But hey, that’s the eternal problem with sequels/expansions. Those who have mastered the games before thirst for tougher challenges. The attempts at drawing in newbies, force the designers to make easier and mildly difficult content as well.

Nightfall, since it combines the best features of both Prophecies and Factions.

In contrast to the above poster I actually think Prophecies has the lowest replay value since 2/3 of the game is about getting your char to level 20 before it actually starts. GW is not about leveling characters...

Prophecies, slower & relaxing pace keeps this as my favourite chapter.

Factions & Nightfall storylines felt little bit like my chars had to run as fast as possible to prevent war/disaster/end of the world in areas that were Falloutish look i.e Kaineing City slums/Kourna etc.

I love exploring fantasy world that's full of life

Whoa. From the results, Factions sure got the bad end of the stick.

I went for Nightfall, because to me, it feels the most balanced of them all. It has involving missions, and isn't too generic in terms of plot. There's also the heros. And I haven't seen more breathtaking environments since when I played Morrowind (Hey, it was nice at its time, eh?)

Nightfall just BARLY edges out Proph for me, due to the climactic story line and the effect the addition of Hero's will have on previous and future chapters.

Nightfall edges out Prophecies for me as well. It's more polished, and the heroes do it for me. Of course Prophecies will always have a place, it was where I learned the game, met those cool people in he beginning and what not. Also, it's still more enjoyable than Factions.

That's a dumb reason. You can still farm in both factions and nightfall. The AI update hendered farming everywhere, but there are simple ways around it everywhere too. I can solo the bosses and monsters along the marga coast with my necromancer.

Nightfall is way better than factions, which is better than prophecies, IMO. Each of them introduced interesting and fun concepts which built upon prophecies. It's a matter of new content and repairing flaws in the older version.

With story line, NF beats the hell out of all of them. Nightfall really stunk at the end, but some parts of prophecies seemed really lame (ascension didn't actually do anything to help, made no sense).

Right now Prophecies and Factions suck because the outposts are empty.

Prophecies came in 1st place with 271 votes, Nightfall 2nd with 161 votes, and Factions came last with a mere 34 votes. The thread will stay open for discussion, but will be closed if it goes off topic.

I find it amusing how badly Factions got spanked.

I'd have voted Prophecies too, if the poll weren't closed. It's still fun to go exploring and do missions in. I don't know if Nightfall will have the same longevity, but as awful as the Realm of Torment is, I strongly suspect it won't.

but it did get the DEMMX award. which tells you that hating factions is either some kind of community ritual with no reason, or the award is less than spectacular. I suspect it is the first thing since I remember hordes of people playing factions. If it had been that bad people would just have left Cantha for good, but it seems they couldn't do that either.

Actually I know many people that beat factions and practically stayed in Tyria unles they needed a green/elite.

Prophecies, with Nightfall a close second, and Factions a VERY distant third.

Well as far as replay goes, yes Prophecies can be frustrating because you level so slowly, however, if it's your first time playing through, the leveling pace and difficulty ramps very smoothly and makes for a VERY enjoyable experience. Factions was the worst of the 3 in this regard. You level blindly fast and then hit the mainland and get your butt kicked for a while until you adjust. Nightfall is a good cross between the two.

In Factions, I hate Ritualists, and in Nightfall, I hate Dervishes. Also, It now feels like there are too many skills for the core classes. And the new areas to explore in Factions and Nightfall, aren't exciting enough. They don't give me the same feelings I experienced when exploring new areas in Prophesies. They all feel like I've seen them before.

Just my opinions.
Actually, I think the Ritualist is the best thing to come out of Factions, the Assassin is clearly the worst profession of all. The Dervish and Paragon both kick butt.

the lackluster replay value is true for all 3 chapters

can only do the *same quest* so many times

the 1st time through a chapter is always the best
