Video Interview: Possible Chapter 4 Info - Aug. '07, Aztech/Mayans
Inde
From a dutch site, there's an interview by PC Gameplay magazine with an Easy Interactive employee (Michel we believe) from the Gameplay Expo. He has some interesting tidbits at the end saying that Chapter 4 will be released in August 2007 and that it could be an Aztech/Mayan theme. Of course this is unconfirmed, nothing is official until it's released, but it's an interesting bit of news for the community. If you understand Dutch you can see the video here (thanks to Dethdeath and The_Undead_Mesmer for translation):

The interviewed seems to be a person from NCSoft not a developer from Anet.
Most important news i get from it (being german recognising about every 5th word )-> only 1 Guild Wars campaign in 2007

Sounds interesting...
Now assuming this isn't fake, I'm wondering about all the speculation (based on several clues) of 'northern regions' that has been going on, and how this would relate to Mayans and Aztecs. Would this new chapter still be located north of Tyria? Or will it be west of the Maguuma Jungle, an ideal location for a Central American theme?
Also... August? Goodbye to the one-chapter-every-six-months-plan then?

Actually the interviewed man is named "Michel" and works for Easy Interactive. I think the company is a distributer but I'm unable to find a website from the company. Seut is correct; this man states there will be only one (1) chapter for 2007. Maybe Anet could confirm this for us? I highly doubt saying "1 instead of 2" would break any NDA's
Acillios
First part they are talking about GuildWars Nightfall, and what Nightfall adds to the other 2 parts, and what gameplay is in. Then they are talking about WoW and GW, about how they are one of the biggest MMORPG's.
The last part is most interesting. There's only coming one GW Chapter in 2007, and they say this part COULD be Aztec type of world, but he can't say for sure.
Looks nice ^^

It's NC Interactive actually and they are:
NCsoft Austin is also the home for NC Interactive, the support arm of NCsoft in North America. That group is comprised of community relations, web design, marketing, PR, quality assurance, customer support and localization specialists whose responsibility is to provide the support needs for the North American launch of Lineage and other NCsoft products.

Interesting indeed

Interesting...Aztech/Mayan theme, it reminds me of this:
But the 2 chapters a year model clearly doesnt really work very well, seening how faction look, and that some part of NF content had to be held off until recently to be released.
If it takes more time to develop better quality games, so be it. Its better than a hit or miss with the gamers, since i am sure we all want chapters to just as good as Nightfall if not better.

That would be pretty cool. Jaguar pets and Obsidian Shard Swords anyone? =)

One Guild Wars campaign each year? Works better for me.. gives me more time to complete the game with each of my characters! =P
But I'm worried.. they don't have any monthly fees, and they rely on the sales of the games, character slots, PvP unlock packs.. so one campaign per year could be stretching their fundings. =/

Maybe the Elite mission would have us fighting Chupacabras.

Its intresting, noting that Gaile said that they had no way of knowing when it will be released.
Knightsaber Sith
Keep in mind he said there would only be one campaing released in 2007, not that they were going to permanently restructure to one campaign a year.
Nickhimself
I like that very much. It gives me a lot of time to get the titles / accomplishments that I want before the next chapter.

About the one chapter a year. It might work well. Remember Gaile mentioned the idea of adding updates with the chapters such as the elite missions. Things that were mentioned in the manual but not in the actual game upon it's release. If they do that more (and change it so there isn't the confusion) I think it would be much more successfull than 2 a year. Still I'll be sad that there is only one next year (though not confirmed.)
Still a little confused though as to what the theme would include as far as explorable areas. Right now it seems a little too close to Nightfall.. guess i'll have to do a little research

Chubacabras Are Dogs... just plain Wild Dogs.
And where Might one find the translation?

A game played entirely in a hot steamy rainforest type environment will be nice. I imagine there will be lots of pyramids.
P.S. According to an X-Files episope I watched years ago, it's Chupacabra and they're similar to vampires.

Hmm I saw something once about chupacabra's. They looked a bit like monkey's, floated in the air and could suddenly disappear... And they only were seen in Mexico.
Hmmm but then again, it was in a program about aliens and stuff... (people who think they saw aliens etc)
Anyway, I'd like to play in a jungle area, something like Istan in Nightfall (there was this jungle like area, and I think the first mission's temple was also in this area). Maybe we'll see traps, or undead-half man/half monkey thingies (I just saw The Mummy Returns :P)
EDIT: Chupacabra literaly meant 'Goat sucker' I think

I don't know, Aug 08 release date sound too far away. Also it doesn't take them that long to get everything together. I mean Chapter 3 (Nightfall) took around 6 to 7 months to make.

Hey, guys,
I don't know who that gentleman is, but he doesn't work for ArenaNet, and I don't think he works for NCsoft in any capacity, either. Which begs the question of why he's being interviewed about our game.
The only information we have at present about Campaign 4 is that there will be a Campaign 4. That's it, honestly!
We have not announced any of the following:

2 chapters a years could work - they just have to avoid what they did with Factions.
Consider that Factions was halfway done before most people ever even played Prophesies, they made a -lot- of guesses about what people would want before they had true feedback, and they simply guessed wrong.
Nightfall on the other hand shows that they do have the ability to get some of it right - it may not have everything everyone wants, but it does have a lot of things a lot of people wanted.
Now that they have constant feedback, another Factions is not as likely. Possible, but not as likely.
And some of Factions was great. The new professions, conceptually, are very neat - much better concepts than the Dervish and Paragon to me, but one was too hard for the average player to master, and the other too 'secondary' - best at nothing, but good at everything. Funny thing there is that the Ritualist, in that secondary role, would make the perfect 'Hero', and yet is the only profession with no Hero...
But I digress...
Point is, I don't think the idea of two chapters a year is a lost cause, I think they are likely better able to do it now, barring manpower issues, than they were before. The knowledge and community is more in place now.
As for the theme of meseoamerica (Toltec, Aztec, Mayan), I'm all for it, and so is Mel Gibson.
If they time the release right, they could seriously cash in on the Gibson-factor.
Hopefully, it will have a lot of influence in the conquest of the Toltecs by the Aztec rather than the half-century later Cortez parade... (where the Toltec majority overthrew their Aztec conquerers using Cortez as a proxy).
The Toltec struggle is just more interesting, and less known north of the Rio Grande.

And the interviewer clearly says "easy interactive"...
(Dutch is my native language, just FYI)
Anyway, I read Gaile's post in here. I have more trust in her words than those of "Michel from Easy Interactive".
So I'm calling it BS, meant as filler for whatever site this came from
Glad too, august 2007 is just... too long to wait, for me anyways

I was about to post a full transcript of what the guy said in english but seeing as its not real i wont bother, even when looking at the movie i was thinking : this guy cant be real, i mean hes not saying anything new at all.
I mean if they were to interview me or anyone that has played long enough and keep track of gaile and stuff, would be able to give more info then him :|
Seems to me just some random guy , possibly plays GW and decided to do as if he was Anet/NCSoft and give info which any player could have done.

Completely off topic, but I'm predicting a hasty close anyway...
Chupacabras are actually kinda creepy if you watch a late night (say, midnight-2 am) discovery channel exposé about them. And you're alone, and it's cold, and you're tired... Y'know?

As I stated earlier:
Treat it as such. Since the interview was done by PC Gameplay magazine I noted that in their Dec. Issue they have a section on Guild Wars Nightfall. It would be interesting for someone to get their hands on a copy and see if this information is in there in print. No, doesn't make it anymore legit but just an interesting item.
EDIT: It does look like there is an Easy Interactive company that partners with NCSoft and there's a guy name Michel as their Managing Director. They reissue PC games and are based in The Netherlands:

So if I asked the question to Gaile that this guy's, speculation was a total flat out lie? This includes the theme and release date. You see the problem is for me is that sometimes there are disgruntle employees or people, who know other people in Arena Net or NC-Soft (usually coming out of R&D). I don’t know how they do it but most things that get tied up in the supposed, “vault” get out by these muskrats. Believe me when I say I totally hate those people for giving out information before the companies can assets the problems. No one wants to go through some super hyped trail and no one wants to be let down.

One chapter.. nothings confirmed.. According to the current scheme.. A game should be expected in April (Factions) And another in october (Nightfall) thus going with the 6 months theme.

Thanks God they aren't releasing 2 a year anymore, if this is true.

I mean on these very forums we have talked about the next chapter possibly being aztec/mayans and about the 1 in the next year, he could just be following logic as he said, 1 in the first year 2 in second, so you could assume 1 next year again and 2 the year after that.

This is all a ploy by Mel Gibson to promote his new Apocalypto movie
