Lowering Shiro's Weapons Req--- Why wouldn't you?

As you may know, Shiro's Sword and Shiro's Blades are 2 of the endgame greens for the factions campain. Curiously, they have a req of 15 of their attribute.

No doubt these things look nice, but they aren't practical as they are now. I will refer to Shiro's Blades in this example. I have both a pair of Shiro's Blades and Chkkrs Pincers. I love using Shiro's blades when my build permits, this is because the skin is huge and its nice to look at. (Similar to Drago's Flatbow for example) I really don't enjoy being forced to use my Chkkr's Pincers, but I do anyways.

My proposal is that we try to convince ANET to lower this req down a few notches. Why not? There is nothing to lose, the game won't change in balence at all. Please vote here to lower, even if you have nothing to gain, other people do, and other people will gladly thank you for it.

Breif Terms to ANET: We, the guildwars community, kindly ask you anet to lower the requirements of the green endgame weapons Shiro's Sword and Shiro's Blades. Our preferred requirement would be requirement 9 like all the other greens, but if you would like them to be profession specfic, a lower to 13 would be widely apprecited. We thank you for your cooperation and hope that you can implement this simple change soon.

BIG NEWS EVERYONE:
We actually accomplished something, the requirement has now been lowered to 13! Hurray for all you supporters, we should be proud that a small thread like this may have had a positive effect on the guildwars community. Now everyone is happy, they can only be used by their respective professions like ANET wanted, but now they are usable in regular builds. Thanks again for all the support!

Yup. They are the sole non-tutorial green items with a req other than 9.
As they are, they are mostly decoratives, a memento.

People would have a +3 Shadow rune, but a +3 dagger? Not many builds need that.

Brought down to at least 12 if not 11; never studied them too long, but I don't remember them being absolutely groundbreaking, so I can't say if they should be lower than 11.

I Do not use a Assasin, but Seriously, I saw that and Come on, req 15? Why?

What logical explaination is there to have them force the req to 15?

Personally, I wouldn't lower their requirements. I see them as prestige weapons, very much like prestige armor. It's a way of saying "I put in all this effort and look at this really cool stuff I got for it!" to other players. Not everything that's flashy is meant to be practical or useful, after all

Ok, then make ALL the other end game green ones req15.

No? Of course not.

Shiro's blades are the only one with req15.

It takes the same amount of time to get them reguardless, a disfunctional requirement is not a part of prestige, it is a mockery to anyone seen using them.

Aside from the fact that they are not big enough...... I mean, they were 4 feet long in the cinema, they are broken to use. An Assassin build usually requires a pretty fine balance of 3 attributes to be effective, and proficient critical strikes cost 13 attribute points. The overall restrictions and disinsentives on Assassin make shiros blades a crappy weapon unless your using particular builds. I can understand where they may have wanted to limit this from being used by other classes, but that only requires 13 attribute points, and personally, I think anyone using 12 should be able to access them.

Shiro's Blades are just perfect Vampiric [Daggers] of Fortitude, with a flashy skin. But that's all most greens are. If they ARE Shiro's daggers, then shouldn't they have no req... seeing as he's 'godly'? :P

I have Shiro's Blades on my Assassin, but I never use them, simply because I can't meet the req.... but they're just so COOL.

The only reason I can find is that they dont want other classes (eg warriors) using shiros blades to become like shiro

and even then, that is the worst excuse I have ever seen.

and heck, if they give us perfect 20/20 sundering swords +30hp in NF, why not a perfect vamp req 9 sword in Factions.

I always have 16 in swordsmanship on my warrior anyway, but I would really like to see him using shiros blades, its the entire reason I created a W/A build that worked with daggers

The perfect 20/20 sunder endgame sword in nightfall is trash. Even not considering the mods, the skin is as long as a gladius and about as thick as a knitting needle. It should do piercing damage, cause if you actually tried to slash anyone the thing would snap.

I think more than half the swords in GW would snap if you actually used them.

none of them really look sturdy

The Katana iS Half the thickness of Shiro's Blades, and THAT is some strudy stuff.

it all depends on the way oit was crafted... Whya re we even having a conversation about how sturdy some Animated swords are?

Wow. Geek moment.

I love all the positive feedback, thank you all very much.

I'm not a programmer, but I think this change would take the guys down at ANET maybe 10 minutes maximum to implement.

After this post gets big enough I'd like to email a link to it to the ANET staff to prove that is does have support behind it. If you wish to send a seperate email do that too.

Some of the things on this forum are too big to be accomplished, but I feel this is definately a sizeable goal. I really hope we can get it in by christmas.

I love my sin, I'm one title away from KoaBD, use him all the time when helping guildies or friends in NF, but have never used my amulet of mists. I didn't want a pair of req 15 daggers that look cool, sure, but have such a high requirement. I mean if I was level 28 or 30 than 15 would be luaghable, but I'm not and never will be. Ceremonial daggers look funny imo, and I have Chkkr's pincers, I'd just like to be able to use Shiro's without having to have a custom build for the weapon... ah well, I highly doubt it would happen but would be very happy if it did.

edit: grammar, what grammar?

/signed if they make the reqs 13

I think that the high requirements are meant to be there because only a few people are supposed to be able to weild weapons like that. That's why only a fighter or sassi should be able to use them. However, I'd like them to lower the requirements a little so you can use them with 12 points in a skill and a +1 headpiece.

The only other thing I can imagine them doing to keep the reqs that high is removing the health degeneration on them if you meet the reqs. That's be a good tradeoff imo... less health overall because of the runes you need to use them, but you don't have to worry about the life drain.

/not signed - They are 15 because they are iconic in the lore of GW, and show that Shiro had high DM :P
