Petition:Increase storage based on number of expansions owned by an account
Vel
As GW franchise adds more and more expansions to the list, ANET please do the following:
1. Please provide at least 1 extra bag per character for each expansion. This means, if a person owns prophecies only, let him/her have 3 bags and 1 belt-pouch; if a person adds "GW: Factions" let him/her have 1 extra bag for each character. This will help him/her to get new armor pieces, weapons and such.
2. Please increase Xunlai Agent slots by 5 per expansion. Let the storage have "storage tabs" to hold Insignias and weapon upgrades, wrappings and Dyes. Make the same type of insignias, upgrades and wrappings stackable. I understand, the "Rat Pack" syndrome but, in PvE it is half the fun.
Before you sign or don't, please understand I have a 12 character slots account and half of them are not full simply because I do more PvP these days than PvE but, I believe, it will be a lot of fun (less frustration) to find an item without sifting through your characters every single time you need one. Obviously, there are prudent ones who maintain a database of items. Darn, if I do that, GW will become my second job. <lol>
I don't think I am requesting for anything outrageous and probably have been requested before. I will appreciate if you all sign my petition to increase storage.
Thanks,
Vel

I think 5 extra Xunlai Agent slots per additional char slot is a good idea. Slots from an expansion, or purchased in the store should count.

I agree with the storage slots but not the extra bags. I own 3 separate game prof, fact and NF but only have the storage of someone with 1 of the games.
On the other hand anet may say having the extra char slots from the expansions is extra stoage and that you can buy even more from the online store with another slot. Sure a mule is kind of annoying having to log in and out to move items but it does work

I don't agree with adding slots based on the number of expansions you own, I think it would be better if there were a title that could increase your storage capacity, like the way wisdom and treasure hunter work. What the title should be and how to get it....not sure.

I don't necessarily agree with the extra bags but i do agree with the additional Storage system. at least having a Tab for items that are stackable like dye's and collector items like they did with the Materials. Also the additional 5 spaces per new expansion would be nice as well.

/not signed for extra bags. It's just a balance issue, as you can carry more stuff into the wild or collect more loot than someone with just one game.
/signed for extra storage.
The two best ideas I heard was (1) more storage if you own more games, which should be implemented regardless, and (2) you can buy extra storage separately, priced differently than extra characters. For example, it's 10$ for a mule which gives about 52 slots (including weapon & off-hand, right?), so about 0.20$ per slot. So I'd charge a bit cheaper because it doesn't involve a new character and all that this comes with, so maybe 0.10-0.18$ per slot (or 10-18$ for 100slots). You could tab them 1-5 instead of "Inventory" or "Items".

Although making it purchasable in the online store seems unfair to me We shouldn't have to pay extra money to be able to store some stuff
Seperate tabs is an idea I like, But i don't know how much time, and effort, it would take from the Dev team.. If it takes to much? then please work on the 4th chapter, if it is minor, then please implement it for the needy

/signed for adding 5 storage slots per campaign you own.
This will obviously help with getting new armor on each one, which is the main reason storage sucks at the minute.
/notsigned for adding a bag for each compaign you own.
This would incourage mass farming. The bag and belt system is fine as it is.
[edit]
Thinking about it. Id say the best way to do the "adding 5 more storage alots on each campaign" thing, is like this;
When you start GWs for the first time, your given the normal 25 slots? (I cant think off the top of my head) which you pay your 50g for, and choose to share it or not.
But then your given another choice to buy another 5.
Everytime a new campaign is released, you can purchase an aditional 5.
This would then mean that those who already own all 3 games, could take advantage of it. They would just need to return to the islands and purchase the extra 5 slots on each one which they havent already.
The game could quite easily keep track of who has or hasnt purchased what.
This would mean by now you should have about 25+15=45 slots?
That would be 3 rows which you can use for 3 sets of end game armor or alike.

Well Bob they win, Nothing! Sorry kids Anet seems to think 1 games worth of storage should hold you for 3. What was 4 chars is now 8+ and your storage space should be just fine. One might argue that if u took stock you prob dont need half the crap you keep and on the other hand if we keep it who cares if we need it, we want it.

Maybe put in a quest to get the slots and have 1 quest per expansion. After beating the quest you get 5 extra slots. One chapter could maybe have the xunlai agents getting kidnapped and you have to rescue them, this could be maybe the prophecies one where the bandits in ascalon do the kidnapping but make them a minnimum of lv 24 so it is at least a little fun. Other quest ideas the wardens or outcasts in factions steal a crap load from the xunlai. NF you could have something with the pirates maybe just a thought. I like the extra slots and maybe a small quest to actually earn the slots

I would like a search function implemented to search entire account,
I got 20 slots on two accounts and it gets pretty frustrating logging in
20 times to find a "divine staff" for a Hero.
Then looking thru entire inventory and coming up empty I realize it
is on a hero somewhere, back to logging in and out a million times again,

/signed, but also: people who buy extra character slots should get a bit of help too. I'll suggest that you get a complete vault for each expansion you own: 20 slots item storage, plus materials storage. If you buy an extra character slot, nothing. But for every 2 character slots you buy over and above the normal campaigns, you get another 5 slots added to a vault. Right now, that's 4 prophecies characters, 2 factions, 2 nightfall: 3 complete Xunlai vaults. If you buy 2 more character slots, you get to add another 5 slots to one of the vaults.
Too much? Consider that a player who owns ONE campaign has one vault to work with. If you get a second campaign and do NOT add it to the account, but play it separately, you get a vault to work with for each account bought and paid for. Giving even just an item vault for each camopaign, and a shared materials storage vault for all campaigns, is STILL less than what a player who does not link accounts gets. Also, the person who doesn't link accountws gets more characters, meaning more space to mule.

I think it would be awesome if each character had his own tab in the storage, of the same size as the current storage, just openable by him, to put extra armor pieces, mods, etc. This way, there would be "individual tabs" for each character, and one common to all the characters to do item transfers.

Yes, this is an old, old issue. What it boils down to is that no matter how much storage Anet provides, people will fill it up and want more.
Maybe Anet could figure out a tabbing feature that would allow one character to access another character's backpack, etc. of the same account while in a town or outpost. This would make "mules" a more viable storage alternative. Actually, Anet may even have players buying more characters to just to use as mules if this were implemented.

definetly, more storage is needed...
but make it simple: whoever wants it and has ingame-money, just buy extra space from the Xunlay agent. and the space gets more expensive, as well as it is with the skills. simple as that!

YOU are Mr Storage...
Why don't you give some seminars about effective storage use then, instead of making remarks about how people should learn to use theirs.
I myself don't have storage problems but i can understand if a mass of people ask for it that the reason is valid, so i support them in that.

Ever wondered why stacks are limited to being 250 in quantity?
I'm guessing it's something to do with 256 being the number of possible bit combinations in one Byte of information.
What I'm saying is that I wouldn't be surprised if each storage slot only occupied 1 Byte of information on disk. If I was to be generous to ANet, I'd go way over the top and say that each slot required 1 KiloByte of information, resulting in a whopping 16KB of storage per account.
With approximately 3 million users, that equals a MASSIVE total of... 45-46GB of storage.
So to double everyone's storage would require 90-92GB.
OMG!
How could ANet AFFORD such a HEEEEOOOOGE disk?!?
Remember, that's me being GENEROUS with the figures too.
If we were more realistic and said that each storage slot occupied 2Bytes of information, you're looking at 32Bytes of information per account.
For 3 million accounts, that's 93,750KB or 91.5MB.
Don't make the argument that it would require ANet to invest in a whole new server farm before you've actually crunched some numbers.

Instead of campaings owned, slots owned.
The irst camaping grants you 4 slots. 20/4=5 slots per character.
Done. Making the storage 5 storage slots per character slot owned would fix the issue. You can't remove the character slots, so no problema about that.
Paying for an additional campaing wpuld grant 10 more lots (2 characters) and those whi pay for more sots would have more storage, one more great reason to buy them.

I think they should have a dye tab in the vault, the materials tab is great, but sadly not enough to stop everyones storage problems. What I have done is to create 2 mule characters, keep a database of what they have on them, and also use them to sell the stuff later when the prices go up. Using this method I have been able to keep my vault box pretty empty, and haven't had many problems with running out of space.

1byte can only contain the quantity of an item (assuming it stacks 0-255)
As there are more than 255 different items in the game AT LEAST 2 other bytes are requires for an identification for the item type.
Further bytes would be required for all the item attributes - mods - colour etc
So a more realistic figure would be maybe 32bytes per item slot (certainly not per account) - per character.
I'm not going to do the remaining math but 32 multiply by ? backpack slots multiply by the number of characters on an account multiply by 3,000,000 accounts - Add - 32 multiply ? storage account slots.....
and the number does become quite significant - however.........
What is really annoying, is despite Gaile's post that 'things are much more complicated than just adding server storage' recently - is that there is no explaination as to why storage space cannot be increased despite VERY frequent requests.
Some sort of explaination would go a long way to help stopping the constant requests for storage upgrades.

Anet - Nc Soft subscriber income should be more than enough to handle some additional storage. So please no more agreeing with the idea that they will suffer to provide an easy and much needed change to storage. [3mil buyers x ~50 Euro = more than enough].
Extra storage should come free with an expansion (as happened with Factions, or with in-game credits - I do not support paying real $ for a solution. If Anet need to make it hard to get, then pay for it with a hard to get reward. Just don't make it an end game reward lol
Some ideas -----
Provide a collector item tab in Xunlai - stackable so less bytes, and shareable between characters, so no more hunting for the lost pulsating growth.
Give each Hero (for each character) a bag/pouch - just enough for some weapon and rune choices. Its really painfull keeping role kit for all the heros in your own chars limited slots
Give the vault an extra page of slots if 5 characters "hand in" 5 x a one time only reward. Make the reward based somehow on character progression or something related to how often or well used the character is. Much like the titles. For eg, if 5 chars each have a first level title. [And no, I don't mean 5 characters with kind of a big deal !! ]
This way its part of the story, and you get one more page for each 5 active characters. ie mules or less used characters wont get the reward.
Yes this last idea does reward the active multiple campaign owners, but if you only have 4 chars and one campaign then you probably dont need more storage any way.

People who buy more Campagins are the ones that need more storage the most. More campagins owned means access to lots and lots of items and armor sets from all of them. Loyal customers should be rewarded. They also deserve it more as they paid more.
The amount of storage for 1 campagin is small but when you have all 3 and still have the same storage, it's getting ridiculous.
