No love for Cantha?

The following is concerned for those with Factions only.
I was startled when Anet didn't give Kaineng Center any design for Halloween, but now that they can't have a Christmas?! Sorry, but I think that's just unfair, seeing as Tyria gets 3 towns decorated, I can't see why Cantha gets 0 decorated. I'm not ranting because I have factions only (I have all three), it's just that it feels unfair to Canthans.
Thoughts on the matter?
P.S. Frozen Glob of Ectoplasm...I smell a scam...(change the name)

Count to Potato
Kaeining would look ugly in wintersday celebrations

What?
Sure, the place is asian THEMED but most of the players there are american...
You guys don't care...just cause you've got prophecies and/or nightfall...
You wouldn't know what Kaineng would look like, it's up to Anet to decide that.

why two posts? one in Q&A and one here?
I love Cantha, it's my favorite continent. Just for fun, A-net should completely reverse Cantha, just as a special event. Instead of looking looking all run-down, they should make it look like a utopia from the future.
Also, I think they are going to do something for Chinese New Year, so keep your eyes peeled.

But still, like I said before most people there are american and DO celebrate Christmas.

I like your concept of the known world.. does that mean if you're playing on the American server you should have Christmas in Keineng, but if you're on the Asian server (one of them) you shouldn't get Christmas in Tyria, because Asia doesn't have Christmas?
I thought it was specific to continents and what the continents are based on. Btw, its Wintersday, not Christmas which Tyria celebrates..

Like it or not, Factions are dead.

What are you people talking about? Many Japanese people, for example (since Cantha is designed heavily after Japan) celebrate Christmas.
arcanemacabre
Not that any of that matters: it's not Christmas, it's Wintersday. Simply put, Cantha doesn't celebrate Wintersday. Keep in mind, they are South of even Elona, which means they are in the Southern hemisphere of this planet, most likely. That means while it's all cold and winter-wonderland-ish in Tyria, it's summertime in Cantha (while Elona experiences year-round hot equator action).
Besides, Cantha gets the Dragon Festival and Day of the Tengu.

Yeah it's not Christamas.. it's Wintersday. I think Cantha should have Wintersday but I really don't care since I have Prophices and Nightfall.

If I thought that Factions was more than a ghost town for those finishing missions I would really go to bat on this. As it stands though it seems like a waste of time and resources to decorate a place that has no one in it -_- (However I don't think that is the point really.)
I'm willing to be wrong on this, but I wonder if its not very much like Halloween was, where Asian countries don't celebrate it and therefor it's not included in Cantha. I think Anet will have its own special things for Cantha just as it does for Elona and Tyria, so lets just wait and see eh? Besides we don't know what "special" events of Elona will spread over into Cantha or vice versa - food for thought folks.
ALSO it's not about how "american" the country is now, but by and large if you check wikipedia you will note that most Asian countries as a whole don't celebrate Halloween and likely not "Christmas-ISH" things either and so it makes perfect sense not to include them in the events as the events are very much LORE based.

canthans dont celebrate Wintersday.
they do have the dragon festival, which tyrians do not celebrate.
its not a matter of american, asian, or european or even whether you bought prophesies, factions, or nightfall; its the lore of the world GW exists in.

No love for Cantha my arse, Dragon Festival and not to mention all those weekends while Tyria got nothing...some people are never satisfied

Cantha have the dragon festival, its around 27th April. Please be patient.

I believe it's because of the different designers for each game (IE one team for Prophecies/Nightfall, another for Faction/CH4)
Maybe the Factions/CH4 themes will be like Day of Tengu/Dragon Festival, while Elona and Tyria is Halloween/Wintersday.

i believe the reason why they don't have it in Cantha is because they already have the design or whatever you programmers call it for Wintersday in Tyria and they will reuse it for this year. If they were to do for Factions they would have to design the towns in cantha and that would take up too much of their time.

kinda off topic... all my toons look like they have melanoma in kc. for that reason alone, i could care less if they decide to decorate or not.

Those players also bought the worst of the 3 games available.

I'm thinking that the people who said there are different development teams, most of the holiday decorations are made for Tyria from previous Wintersday and the fact that Wintersday itself in lore is a Tyrian holiday, are all closest to the answer.
BTW, Factions doesn't suck. If anyone out there doesn't like it, they simply don't like it, unless they believe that their preferences are somehow a universal gauge of all quality.

ArenaNet hasn't touched Factions since the Dragon Festival. It's dead. They won't do anything more with it because no one buys it anymore. I'm actually suprised they still decorate Tyria.
Also, I seriously doubt they'll do something in Cantha during the Chinese New Year. Like I said: there's no profit involved. ArenaNet realized Factions was a flop and it is being seriously ignored now and forever more.
Who knows, A.Net might suprise me. If that's the case, I'll give 1 gold out to anyone here that asks me (Like you're suppose to do for Chinese New Year). But like I said: it won't happen. :/
Cry me a river city?

It only makes sense. Elona and Tyria get 2 holidays and Cantha gets 2 holidays.
If you want ALL the holidays and items then you have to get all the chapters.

^Agreed. Every continent has 2 holidays based on theme.
And the coming event is Wintersday, an event of Tyrian people in game, and it takes place at same time with the Xmas holiday in real life.

Does anyone actually have Factions only? I mean, if they joined GW at the Factions stage and liked it, they will have bought Nightfall/Prophecies. If they didn't like it then they're probably not playing it and not interested in Wintersday.

Im pretty sure that if EVERY continent gets it's own ANNUAL holiday, everyone will be happy.
1. Tyria : Christmas
2. Cantha : Chinese New Year / Other (im not too knowing on Asian Holidays)
3. Elona : Depends on what Elona is based on, i cant tell.
I've made a second option
It is very far fetched but, i kinda like it.
Make a universal Roleplay Holiday.
As in the holiday ties in with the world, every continent, so that every continent can celebrate a holiday without complaining about differences.
It's hard to find a suitable date for every continent, because i dont have a whole calander from Factions, anyhow, i think the most significant date is;
The Gods give magic to all races.
Done, everyone had, everyone loved it, everyone still loves it.
Holiday. Just needs a name.

I think it's kind of a load of crap.
The only reason Cantha had the Dragon Festival and Day of the Tengu (which if you remember all quests/hunting had to be done on Shing Jea Island (aka. noob island)) is because Factions was still new and the newest expansion so of course they were going to give it an event. Who knows if they'll ever do those two events again.
I think it's BS that they don't atleast decorate for the event or atleast throw in an NPC to grab items after collecting stuff, etc... They could be a bit more fair. I know I'd love to do stuff in all 3 chapters if possible.

Also those who not support Anet with buying at least newest game when it is available but still play GW is unfair if they get everything what all GW chapter buyers get.

The Dragon Festival is the Moon New Year. The East Asian New year.
Now... Japanese people actualy makes Winter celebrations, new year, gift day, they usually buy a cake on Christmas... and there are many Christian people there too. But only in Japan.

Current chapter gets the love, that was clear ever since Factions came out. Factions ain't current any more, hence it makes no sense to act "surprised" that an old game isn't getting love.
Tyria likely gets it too simply because most of the work for it was already done for Tyria over a year ago.

ANet is lazy, get over it.
