Nightfall: Gamespy's #1 MMO game of 2006

In broader terms, Guild Wars is extremely close to being our favorite MMO ever due to its enlightened approach to the genre. The attention that ArenaNet pays to the game's PvP experience would be embraced by the industry at large in a perfect world, and its ability to offer such a stellar product without charging a monthly subscription is nothing short of revolutionary. If subsequent expansions reflect the level of quality we saw in Factions and Nightfall, then ArenaNet's model will be viable indeed.
Congrats, ANet!

They also said: "Your guess is as good as ours as to where the next campaign will go, but make no mistake, we're very excited to find out."
So another person has joined the guessing game.
Congratulations ArenaNet! A well-deserved award.

When I see 1up's GOTY for this category then I'll care.

Back on topic, congrats to Anet. As per usual, Anet has done a wonderful job of continually improving on a product that was excellent out of the gate.
Let's see, I've paid $210 for 3 collector's sets, $60 for 2 regular versions. I've played about 2,000 hours between the two accounts. That makes $270/2000 = $0.135, or 13 1/2 cents per hour played. Best bargain in gaming.
So all of you complainers, look around and see if there is anything else in life that gives you better entertainment for 13 cents an hour...
/applaud

If you don't like what I have to say then don't reply.
Otherwise, when I see GOTY across the board it'll matter. Until then its a GOTY from Game Spy out of all places.

I agree with Omega 100%, plus imo GW isn't even an mmo, so it shouldn't be in mmorpg contention.

So lets see MMORPGs this year... you had autoassult which failed day 1, and ummm factions.....yeah.... and..... yeah thats it so they won becuase it was released, not becuase it was good.

Congratulations anet and Good job omega at failing life Guildwars NF deserved the title and im rather saddened by the fact eve and wow swept through mmorpg polls without guildwars getting much recognition. Sorta lost trust in that site after watching their forums and looking at the polls....
Anyways Congratulations anet. Sure its Gamespy rating the game but thats still awesome.

GameSpy is big. I think its like the 3rd most popular in the US, behind Gamespot and IGN. And I think Gamespy actually belongs to one of those two, no?
Anyway, no matter what you think of NF, or the FACT that GW is not a MMORPG, this type of review is good for us players because it may lead to more players joining the game. More players = more money for development, more people in the outposts, etc.

Err..no its built around pvp and making things skill based and balanced. Ive said it for a long time now...pvp should be balanced and skill based, but I don't see a reason for pve to be the same. |
