Yeah, I really like the new search function, but hell no it's a huge mess to find something you're searching for. At least I was expecting a sort function, actually the first thing I did when I opened the search function for the first time was trying to click the text on top of each collum to sort it, but no luck.
I would suggest to update it with a sort or filter function, because now it's a cool feature but totally messy. I tried to find some people with the same quest, but the search window to be updated each time makes me research the window again, and again, again, aargh update, ... pfff ... ok again.... crap another item, where the hell did it place? well there we go again.... and. well you can imagine.
So it would be good to have a sort function, and when a new quest search or whatever comes in, it will be placed in the sorted part and not like all P2P clients out there to be put on bottom and not being sorted automaticly. Anyways finish it, it feels right now as an unfinished feature to me, and loads of people complain about it in outposts.

It would be make a wonderful new feature even easier to use if we could see only certain types of requests (Mission, Quest, Trade, etc.) IMO, the interface presented just begs for you to be able to click on "Purpose" and have the list resorted. I was surprised when clicking on Purpose didn't already do that.
It's not such a big deal in small towns and mission outposts, but places like LA and Kamadan (where this new feature will be the most helpful) are already getting hard to read.
Thanks for the Wintersday party-search present, though!

About the yellow button I don't have problem for the color, but, why is the button present in places where you can't party? you can't even trade in that places because the Players part (of the Party Search window) is grayed.
Everybody love the new feature, but at the same time, everybody want to see it improved.
I think my idea is better than just add a "filter", just make a NEW Trade Search not related to Party Search in any way.

I would love it if I was able to sort by columns or have different tabs for trade, mission, and quests.

When I checked out the new Party Search thing for the first time last night...a big red light flashed in my head. Being in LA...I quickly saw Mission...Mission..Quest..Trade...Trade....Trade.. .Mission..Quest..Tade.etc. No organization. If would take a person hours to just sort through the entire search to just look for one particular thing (especially with things being added almost every second). The smaller towns/outposts its not a big deal but for places like LA, kamadan, and KC...its needed. I thought about the filter/sorter idea as well and I am glad other people had thought of it at the same time.
Oh yeah..........one last thing. Now that there is a search thing....... PLEASE people........for the love of all Tyria, Cantha, and Elona.........STOP SPAMMING the local chat!!!

With the checkbox and tab idea, you are basically limited to a small, fixed set of criteria. A on-the-fly free text search is much more powerful. For instance, if your group is looking for a monk to do a mission, you can type in "mission mo" to see only monks looking to do mission. If you're looking to buy something, you type in "wts," and so on.
Here's a quickie photoshop job:
The text field should be persistent within a single game session, so that you don't have to keep typing in the same thing while jumping between areas.

Split into Trade, Mission, Quest tabs or let us check/uncheck which type we want to see, or just let us click the column header to sort by type. Any type of sort/filter would make this awesome feature even better.

Already needed badly on day one when half the people logged in didn't even know it existed.

The only REAL way to filter is to have the description is a drop-down of quests/missions. That would keep people from using the mission qialog from saying "YOUR MOM OMG1337Hx00rj00"

Filtering would be a small help, but the bigger issue is the need to give traders a BIG incentive to actually declare their post as Trade. The Party Search is full of the same BS spam that fills the local chat channel.

It would be nice if you could close down the party search while you have seek on and have it TELL YOU that you have a Invite. Unless you look at it A LOT, you dont know if somebody has invited you. maybe they could make the yellow Search text flash or something.

They listened. We got sort options and collapsable sections now. Thanks ANet! This is fantastic!

I don't know about anyone else, but I would like functionality with the international districts to be added. For example, if I have "show districts for other languages" ticked and am in my home districts I can see international seekers, and likewise if I am in the international districts and have the box ticked I can see back into my home districts. I'm not understanding why the international districts were left out of this in the first place as they see some use periodically in the PvP outposts.

It would be nice if the "P" window not only displayed people in your current location, but everyone in your alliance, regardless of location. Maybe put it on another tab. A nice way to cut down on WTS/WTB/LFG alliance chat. Useful for both PvE and PvP.

Or, better alternative: a separate utility for trading, such as an auction house. I never understood why there's nothing but a simple channel (and now this abused party search thingy) to handle trading. It's obvious that the market hogs will do anything in their power to circumvent any filters or preference settings in order to offer their wares, and until they get a proper tool for trading, we'll continue to see people spamming the Local Chat with offers, making WTS/WTB Mission parties and so on.

yea they definitely heard us on this feature. so thank you Anet.
Now to educate the sillies abusing it...
(basically don't do business with these people unless they do it right.)
Muk Utep, part of the reason we didn't get the auction house service that was tested several months ago was a lawsuit settlement with Blizzard that it would not be added. They were trying to ensure that WoW and GW were not almost perfect clones of each other under copyright protections and restrictions (or so they say), so an alternative had to be devised from the "Auction House" option. This was what Anet came up with. Its not perfect, no, but its adequate...
