I found a chest that doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet. There's a Burried Treasure dead south of Beknur Harbor in Istan, all the way to the edge near the coast. It's kind of on the way to the one in the Mehtani Keys.

Just about everyone "hard" to run to can be done easily with shadow form. Just watch out for chillblains.

I got a Ruby, and A lower req Diamond Aegis for the stuff worth mentioning. An interesting prot offhand (Holy Vial?) A few other odds and ends weapons (all inscribable) not all bad, but most with high reqs. I did manage to salvage a +5 energy mod.
Anyone else notice if everything was inscribed? Mine all were. And the Chest in Lost city was the one that gave me a Ruby. I've a sneaky suspicion that these chest aren't completely random.. and it'd be intresting to see what kinda range of items they have on them.

Around 20k, some nice req 9 steel daggers, perfect req 9 diamond aegis, and 3 rubys and 2 saphires. this was only on my ranger, so looking forward to finding them on other characters.

It seem the istan chests drop a lot of adamnatine falchions. I bring some guildmate over there, and out of ~35 chests opened(different characters/guildies), there like ~7 adamantine falchions(req 9-13) pop out.

For the Domain of Pain chest i just died on the mob that meets you upon entry next to the portal. WHen i ran over the bridge after being rezzed at the res shrine i had my hero monks SB me LIfe sheath prot spirit and Heal Seed and Ran through the guys whilst my party got slaughtered then i ran to the chest with out any further problems.

All "treasures" contained either a gold item (ALL gold items were max dmg + inscribable) *or* a gem aswell as 500-2500g.
I seemed to get more cash in the higher req areas.. Got two ~500g drops in Istan, atleast one ~2500g drop in Torment.. Not 100% sure about that, although it would make sense.
I went with a group consisting of people in my alliance, 5-8 people(+heroes if needed). Nobody got a single empty treasure (unless they had opened it before), always cash+item/gem.
Now I just have to get a second character through Elona..

Not sure what you mean by every zone......but yes, it's just in elona. All over elona. Check wiki on where to find them.

Well, the cash drops seemed to vary for different members of the party. Sometimes I'd get more than my buddy, the next time I got less..

Most of my drops were merch food, except a req. 9 Shadow Axe +30 HP I got from Nightfallen Jahai. I think the drop rarity is scaled proportionally to the cash drop.

Think the plat is not that random. Tried it with several characters and found
Istan = 500g + x
Kournan = 1 plat + x
Vabbi + Desolation = 2 plat + x
RoT = 3 plat +x
Couldn't see a pattern for item drops, but got all golds and no gems for me

I got one ruby, which was quickly merched. A nice gold shield of the lion (req 9, one boring mod, unless you're hot for -2 enchanted--I'm not), a mesmer staff, a nice necro staff that was quickly sold, a hammer (req 13 ), and some high req axes and spears with perfect enchanting mod.
But who cares? shadow form>most of the runs, guaranteed semi-decent drops, and a possible gem. Plus, no keys required!

I am so happy about these hidden treasures! Best thing ever. I've got one character all the way through, and another at the Gate of Pain, so I was able to get just about every [known] treasure (couldn't get the hidden city one on my warrior cause she don't have Margrid, yet). All in all, I've made about 60 plat and lots of nice-skinned items.
My Paragon is now nice and decked out with an Ancient Shield and Sunburst Spear, both Req 9. I got my warrior a Req 9 Elonian-style Gladius, a nice Curses 20/20 offhand (medusa-head), and a nice Scepter of the Forgotten. Everything else I got is either going to my heroes, given to friends or my wife, was reaped of mods, or merched.
Anyone know if there are any of these chests/treasures in DoA?

Gold/Platinum doesn't drop, it is just deposited directly into the total your character is carrying. If you pay attention to your chat window, when you 'activate' the treasure, it will say something along the lines of: "You recieve XXXX gold.", and that amount appears in your inventory.

I kept getting igneous swords, haven't ever seen swords like them before. Other than that I got a bunch of a monk focus items a shield. Never any gems. In the realm of torment I also got a little over 3k per treasure.

Me and a couple of freinds have noticed a pattern, but maybe its just us.
On my War all I seem to get is bows, 5 in fact so far(thats all the chests hes reached)
On my friends Monk he has recieved mostly shields.
On my other friends Ranger he has recieved 5 soul reaping weapons/offhands.
Could just be a really funny coincidence but.........
