Pre-Searing: New outpost, new items, new fun!
=HT=Ingram
OK since there is a little interest in this I will find the proposal I made back in 2005 for chapter 1.1 expansion that I made on gwonline.
Its a rouge draft but you get the idea. making the searing as an expansion for chapter 1 available in the web store for $9.99. (its such a cheap price cause of the minimal amount of content that is in it. But enough not to be free either. )

yeah having it as an expansion would be really cool !

I love pre searing! Having something like this would make it so much more interesting! Actually, earlier today i was killing the charr bosses and I thought "Wouldn't it be great for these guys to drop greens".
Also, I agree that the Ldoa title shouldnt require death levelling. After all, death levelling is an exploit, and we all know how much A-net despises exploits...

I LOVE pre-searing. Love love love it. The only thing I don't like about the idea is that your char'd have to be lvl 12 at least. I'd make it 10. Otherwise, love the idea.

Great idea, I'd love to see it, but I doubt it will ever happen. Still, we can always hope, right?

I don't have much faith in Anet's level of attention to the community, and I have even less faith in their will to change just to make players happy- no matter how many- rather than for profit. Still, I'll sign.
If they charged me €10.00 or so for the changes outlined by the OP and also by Ingram as a downloadable expansion, I'd pay it in a heartbeat.

If they don't want to add anything to Prophecies, why don't we ask them to make a Chapter on it? Or mabye a bit more "out there" a mini-chapter!
The new Chapter, as no doubt many before me have said, could be the prelude to Ascalon's Fall. We could even merge the games together with new players of both games starting in Pre-Searing Ascalon. They could open the entire of Pre-Searing Ascalon to both Chapters, but the paths each Chapter follows is Different, in Prophecies we were loyal to Rurik, in *new Chapter* we may remain loyal to Adelbern, and continue to combat the Charr. which leads us on an Offesive to the north, coming to new places and such.
I'm gonna continue this on a new thread, i dont want to hijack yours
Anyway, your idea is good Max.

/signed for piken square, and higher lvl charr
/notsigned for greens
Piken square you can already see in the distance in pre, probably wouldnt be too hard to just make it so you need to fight your way through about 5 or so groups of charr and a charr boss at the gates to get to it, and haveing it be a 4 man outpost would be AWESOME! Mabey even put in a repeatable quest like "Piken square is under siege by the charr! If you can kill 10 charr, I will give you this: Reward: 1500 xp 20 gold" Would it make it easyer to hit lvl 20 in pre? Yes. Would it make hitting lvl 20 in pre much more FUN? Definatly!
As for the greens...they just wouldnt belong in pre...although makeing the ability to salvage off mods would be nice...perhaps a special high lvl area beyond piken with "elite" charr who have a higher chance of dropping grapes and golds? And ofc, another armor crafter...would rock....seeing my ele with 7 armor is always disconcerting...

I have often wanted pre searing to be updated. I have fantisized about going beyong those locked gates out in the northland. Kill a lvl 11 monster that u didnt death lvl.
Whats the deal with death lvling anyways! A-net makes it so u can't death lvl in one update, and then in the next u can do it again. Also who really wants to spend HUNDREDS of hours letting your character die, so that (about) every six hours you can get 100exp?
It is also imposible to get survivor and LDoA, and i know lots of people whould like to get ALL the titles.
In conclusion: pre searing is fun, but it can be made better. Death lvling of any sort is lame. And all we can do is wish:*(

Chances are Anet won't do it.

While I would find extra content in pre-searing very attractive, I think the reason there is no Piken Square is that at the point of pre-searing, it has already been overtaken by Charr. Note than in post-searing, it mentions that in years past, it was a market. You can pass over the area it occupies in pre-searing while in the Northlands, and it's in occupied Charr lands. It's not until post-searing that Ascalonians start to take the land back.
Yanman.be
You really think all your time you invested in creating that is worth anything? A.Net's not going to release new content for CH1, and certainly not for low-level.

I won't go the route of "signing" or "not signing", as that falls into the realm of online petitions, which in my experience, are not very useful. I will say that I support some degree of change in pre-searing. At the very least, the addition of a single mob of sufficient level to allow someone to attain level 20 without death leveling.
Sophitia Leafblade
I think it would be nice if Anet did expand Presearing if only slightly.
Eg adding 2 new Outposts and a couple of new explorable areas with higher lvl enemys to remove the death leveling in Pre. Acouple of new quests would be fun too just to spice pre up. eg. Race x to Fort Ranik. a slight boost of the collector AL would be a good idea too to keep up with the higher lvl enemys. Eg. Casters AL from 7 to 10, Ranger 12 to 15 and Warriors AL from 27 to 30
although i doubt anet would do it...

presear definetly holds a special place in my heart but unfortantaly most people just do the bare min req to get out of presear and into post sear. i would love to have fun with this and it would make the title a little less "OMFG YOU HAVE NO LIFE"ish

My opinion is that pre-searing is absolutely fine as it is. Its a training area, not a full-blown quest and missions area. Its purely there to educate you in using your abilities and skills.
Its not intended as a huge grind at all, and purely as a nice gentle learning curve to ease you in. We dont want to add new content to pre-searing otherwise we incourage people never to leave and alot of players do that already spending hours there farming dye just to sell it.
Adding storage is also a bad idea because that would incourage dye farming in that area. Something I expect you want the storage for, because I dont see any better reason to have it.
You're not going to need to store anything in pre-searing because your armor and weapons change with virtually every drop and your armor will change the minute you move to post-ascalon.
Its a learning zone to get you through the first 10ish levels, not a place that was intended to incourage people to stay.
As for protector of ascalon, that title is intended as a grind because achieveing lvl20 inside pre-searing is something you dont need to do. Its purely for show and it has no beneficial sides to it.

i previously had a topic close to this one, which was somewhat less ambitious, suggesting only the north of the wall outpost. However, it got closed down for the reason that this thread exists. However, this one is recieving less support than my one was due to it's huge ambition factor and many other, less NEEDED requests. with my more realistic one closed, i can no longer gather support for what i believe to be the most necessary point: the outpost.

Isn't pre-searing considered the 'training area' of the game?
A small (10 slot) storage account would be nice, for crafting materials only.

Personally i love pre searing, It is absolutly beatiful. I do have a Pre only character. However i am a guild officer and i mostly use pre for recuiting purposes.
With the addition of the green charr bags storage is a moot point.
an out post in in the northlands is a bad idea i think. it woudl make getting the title that much eaiser. however i think that there should be another explorable area in the north lands with a few higher lvl characters that is only accessable by talking to a NPC after you clear out all the charr. you would have to talk to the person everytime you wished to enter the said area. there could be a small area here with NPC characters. i was thinking mostly a merchant that offered a expert salvage or a collector that offered a expert salvage for maybe like a high number 50 charr carvings. also in the same area perhapps a few higher lvl charr regulars varying in lvls of 8-10 and charr bosses (maybe charr lords) that are maybe just high enough lvl to get you to lvl 19. that way you would have to save all your quest untill lvl 19, so you can get to lvl 20. or maybe the NPC could be there hiding from the charr and grant you exp once you kill all the charr. that way the quest or whatever you want to call it coudl be done over and over again. but it would take time.
it might be hard to do this as mini chapter. but i woudl defently pay up to $20.00 for a new pre mini chapter or even $40.00 as perhaps a extra special propercies edition that included special exclusive pre material. maybe even gave you special greens like in the special edition of propercies. cause you can use those greens in pre already.
and yes pre searing is a tutorial area. so higher lvl weapons are just stupid i think. and along with higher lvl armor. unless perhapps in teh eatra area i am suggesting they put a whole bunch of new armor collectors that maybe collect different items in greater qunaties for better armor. a good idea would be better armor but it would be a tad lower thatn post ascalon armor. and maybe a new helm to match.
perhapps asclaon academy could be added but as a pre only PvP arena. of course different groupings of characters by lvl to fight against.
i would love to see maybe Rin be added and a few extra quests maybe from kind alderan or a few other NPCs.
these are all my ideas. but i think the eaisist way to do this would be the NPC in the north lands.

Adding more to Prophecies would encourage people to buy the game who otherwise would not, I know several people who refuse to buy the first game simply because there's never going to be changes to improve upon it.

I think an outpost north of the wall would be good, but I don't really care for any other changes. Also, I don't think they should ever take the deathleveling aspect out of the defender of ascalon title, because then players from tyria could get both that and survivor, but players from other campaigns can only get one.
I also don't see why anyone would need a merchant in the northlands. With the addition of charr bags, there's plenty of room to carry all the drops back to Ascalon.
But an outpost just so people only had to ask for the gate to be opened once. It wouldn't make the title any less of a grind, because of the fact you still have to deathlevel for a month to get to lvl 20.
