Typical acts of Stupidity that we all commit...that others should avoid?

I made some pretty amazing mistakes lately as well, just to name a few..
1. Instead of putting the +30 hp upgrade to my IDS I somehow managed to salvage it instead - to materials. GG, what was I thinking?
2. While selling stuff to the merchant I was clicking a bit too fast and accidently sold one of my perfect req 9 golds as well.
3. After I got bored of my totem axe I decided to make an equivalent of it, so I crafted the Factions endgame Katana and put the mods on it. Shortly after that I transfered the weapon to one of other characters for pvp play. And yes of course, I deleted it together with the pvp character later.
Apart from that, I had pretty good success in the pve overall so I stopped worrying over such silly mistakes. I can live just as well without my gold weapon and I also purchased a new totem axe. As for the IDS, been trying to farm a new one for the last few weeks but no luck so far.
So what can be learned from the mistakes I made?
1. When upgrading weapons, always double check what are you doing. Since the new upgrade options window that came with Nightfall upgrading is a bit different now. You can't really tell if you're salvaging or upgrading your weapon at the first look at the message that pops up. Just don't rush.
2. A good way of preventing your worthvile items of being accidently sold to merchant is putting them at the end of the inventory with a non-selable item (like a festival hat) in front of them. You won't be able to sell anything after that item with fast clicking this way.
3. Using pve weapons on a pvp character can be a pain since pvp characters can get deleted often and so does all of their inventory. Chances of this happening are a bit smaller now than back in the days when you had to delete a pvp character everytime you had to change a rune or a weapon.
Bottom line: Don't rush too much on everything. It can save a day sometimes and you won't even notice it.

*looks at the warrior skillbar on the guildwars prophecies box*, now that's uber.
Went into a pug group wayyy back then with a lvl 20 necro with presear armor doing Thirsty River mission. Think the guy died in like 1 or 2 hits everytime.
Typical mistakes mentioned already concerning the merchant and etc.
Faction farmed like mad to keep HzH free to everyone for many months. Lesson, lots of faction farming makes you wanna quit guildwars, which I did for 3 months.
Only had 3k gold back in the old days, didn't know what fow was, saw balthazar, *thinks to myself, hey what does this do, must be something good if I'm paying 1k to get in*, paid, got owned. Lesson, never talk to strangers.

Ok. I concider myself to be a very skilled player. I can take my warrior into any situation can have confidence that I'll accomplish the mission/quest objectives.
But it was a long, long, long road to get here!
Wish I had a screen shot of every mistake I made along the way....
Any time somebody laughs at a Wammo, it's probably my fault....
My advice to all players...FOR THE LOVE OF GW -CHECK YOUR SKILLS BEFORE YOU LEAVE TOWN ALONE!!

There is just one thing I like to point out.
When deleting a character: GIVE YOUR FULL ATTENSION
My friend deleted his PvE warrior by accident and lost 3 sets of 15k armor.
I almost lost my necro because I wasnt too careful (Necro is my most beloved char)
so to sum it up when deleting characters STOP EVERYTHING YOU ARE DOING AND FOCUS ON DELETING THE CHAR YOU WANT.

First time I ever got a Glob of Ectoplasm, I didn't know what it was for and sold it to the merchant. This was before I understood the concept of selling rare crafting materials to the RARE CRAFTING MATERIAL TRADER for more money, which I should have at least done.
Now that I think about it, I must have gotten as far as the Tombs and gotten it in there. I never went in the UW or FOW til much later. One would think that a gamer would know by that point to sell any rare crafting materials to the right trader for more money, but no not me.

I once lent my account to my friend for about 3 months, then he lent to his friend who was a hardcore-gamer. I got angry at him for lending it to his friend, and i took the account back by force, they weren't going to give it back.
Anyway, in my rage i deleted his level 20 warrior with 15k armour :l
Which i did nothing at all, except do other stuff to achieve, god knows how much money and golds there were on that

I deleted 2 of my chars, both would turn a year old on the day birthday gifts were first introduced. Had I thought that veteran rewards would be character-wide, as opposed to account, I would probably have kept them. Why I deleted them because back then there was no other way to unlock skills for pvp use other than thru pve characters.

oh ya about character deleting, i once deleted a mule worth ~200k. i was actually playing some HA with guild, and the mule was taking over the pvp slot. so i gave all the items to my guildie, played, put all the items back on the NEW mule. the day after it i was gonna go AB and deleted the mule to make a diffrent class. of curse i remembered that the mule is worth some cash only AFTER deleting him lol

I'm pretty sure that every act of stupidity that everyone's listed and amany more that aren't I have done at least once.
Paperfly
Yesterday's act of stupidity:
Having finally decided that the 1.5K Kurzick thong on my female warrior was gross enough to warrant upgrading, I shelled out for the 15K variant (paying cash for the amber - a sub-act of stupidity in it's own right).
Problem the first: the rest of my set's dyed pre-Nightfall, so there's no way I can get it to match without re-dying everything.
Problem the second: it turns out that no matter what you do, you can't make a 1.5K Kurzick top match the 15K pants, colour-wise (and I really prefer the 1.5K top in this case). This costs me an additional premium in silver dyes as I try different mixes.
So what did I do? I went for the other sleeveless Warrior top, the Istani shirt. Good thing it's just a 1K set, right? Well, it would be if I hadn't persuaded myself that the only way to make it match was to dye it black!
Buyer's remorse now points out that (a) the glossy black of the dye doesn't match the matte of the undyable cloth parts of the Kurzick gear, and that (b) from the rear she looks like she's wearing a t-shirt with her plate mail gloves. Still, I've switched my cape onto "always", so she looks tolerable until I decide to give up and just buy the 15K Kurz top already. Paying cash for amber again, I'm sure.

stupidest thing I've ever done:
When I finally decided what armor I wanted for my monk (15k luxon), bought all the jades for it (1.3k each), bought the armor, then spent about another 50k dying and re-dying it until I found something I liked.

First daft thing i did was after my first UW run with a trapper team. Sold an ecto i got to a merchant for 200 gold. Took me a while to realise i could've got a lot more for it.
Secondly i accidently deleted my PvE mesmer who completed factions 3 days after its release.. His name was too similar to my PvP slot.

I used to take everyone in this site seriously, and believe every voice follow the universal law of logic. I was so wrong
But its not like I will have any kind of relation with this people, just have to warn myself dont mimic them
For something ingame.
I deleted my frist char cause I found someone with the exact same look Only to end up deleted the replace char later....and go back for the first look...3 monthes this took

Yep.
N/Me: switching my build from curses to death (MM) and forgetting to set the attributes. That level 3 flesh golem is so puny. This was in the Boreas Seabed mission. Luckily I had a couple of interrupts so I wasn't completely (almost) worthless.
Mo/Me: switching from prot to heal and noticing that I am healing for 40 health instead of higher numbers. This was in Abaddon's Mouth. It seemed all I was doing was emergency bandaids while the doc (the other monk) was doing all the work.

A simple thing: When logged in, make sure you log in with the right char, also when map traveling, make sure you pick the right district, mistakes I do often and since my computer isn't the fastest it takes quite some time.

Step One: Decide to take advantage of the extension of the Winterfest holiday by gathering enough Gargoyle Skulls to trade for enough Spiked Eggnog to gain the drunkard title for a neglected Toon.
Step Two: Spend all ingame time for the next couple days farming skulls without taking the time to trade for Nog figuring it would be more satisfying do it all at once.
Step Three: Log in and realize that you had your dates screwed up and Winterfest had ended before you managed to trade out for a single tankard of Nog. Look in your inventory at the three stacks off skulls (a bunch of which you didn’t even need but your anal retentiveness made you complete that third stack)
Step Four: Weep quietly to yourself and then advertise your idiocy by posting the foible on the forum at guildwarsguru.com.

Hmm, not really a mistake but this is probably the reason why I'll never ever pay for a run.
I was doing a low level quest with 2 other low level folks and 1 level 20 Warrior. We were in the breach area fighting the Charr and the 20 Warrior was running on ahead to the lowlands.
Battle goes someone like this
Kill Charr....Kill Charr....crappy sword drops....Kill Charr...pick up sword....Kill Charr...Charr Carving drops...Kill Charr...pick up carving...Kill Charr...Black Dye Drops.....Warrior Zones into lowlands. AAAAARRRRGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got another one! (yay, me! - or maybe not)
There I was, (not so) deep in the heart of Joko's Domain. I'm on a mission to finally capture elite skill number 290, "Soldier's Fury" from Arneh the Vigorous. The battle raged for 2 or 3 minutes, and me and my henchies pulled off a narrow victory! YAY, time to cap the skill. I hit the signet of capture, and in my excitement, I snagged "go for the eyes" instead!!!

lol. Well... for me it has to be during the time I quit, and returned, I decided to make a new character and deleted it. It was a PvP mule with all of my warrior's EVENT HATS AND WEAPONS noooooooooo...........
Korean Xunlai Agent
Lol this might take up a couple of pages
-- First month playing I didnt realize that I could use the skillbar
So basically for 30 days or so I didnt use any skill [frenzy power strike (i was a warrior) etc.]
--First 5 Months PvE
I didnt buy 1 salvage kit or identification kit because I didnt know what they did.. When someone started to talk to me at Beacons Perch about this they just laughed at me and told me what the things did
--First PvP Guild
Honestly I cant even remember the name of the guild anymore but I think that it was called Starlight Executioners [sE]but i know it wasnt because Executioners just doenst sound right ANYWAY
We got to like rank 85 at best on the guild ladder
I was in The Hall of Heroes with a pug team that I had made and they were the red team and I was the yellow team and we decided to gank the blue team
BUT what they didnt realize is that instead of agreeing to that we started to attack the RED TEAM being my guild while the blue team was attacking team too.. so in the end my PUG team ended up winning the match and we held for like 5 times or something idk its been awhile
--Gaile Gray msg
LOL I was in a pug for Tombs [HA] awhile ago and someone msg'ed Gaile from the team and told her to "Suck his dick"
We all laughed about it and in about 2 minutes he was temporarly banned from the game
So I decided it would be a good idea to send Gaile the same msg and in a matter in 30 seconds I was banned
--Scammage
I did the Thirsty River scam where you tell someone put their items on the rock and then you teleport them to the movie at the ghostly hero [got banned for it.. think it was like 500 hours total]
--Teleporting teams
Lol I dont think that it was really a bad idea because it was generally funny as hell
But before they changed Heroes Asent to Heroes Asent back when it was The Tomb of Primeval Kings you could teleport PvE players back to the Dragons Lair .. So I gather up all the PvE players that I could find and teleported them all back to the Dragons Lair and I laughed
But in about 20 seconds I recieved about 500 msgs from a million different people that were telling me to go suck my dick and to fack myself and etc. and so on
--Running people and letting them pay at the end of the run
So I was running people to ToA back when it was like a 3k run or whatever it was
I had a full group and I said naw you guys dont worry about payment until we get there
So exactly when we get there everyone leaves the group and i got 0 gold
I tried to msg them but they were all either Ignoring me or Offline
Anyway thats all for now Im sure that I will end up remembering more for a later time

Yeah, I uhh... well, I was trying out a hammer build with my warrior. I had remembered to switch out my gear (stonefist gloves and Hammer Mastery helm), change all my skills, even save the build for future use. Then when I went out to try it, in DoA no less, and wondered why the heck it was taking too long to kill even a monk.
So, later I change back to axe, changing gear and all that, and proceeded to curse myself after we went out because I had just then remembered to change my attributes back to axe - only to find out that I never changed them out of axe to begin with. Yeah...

well lol ok this may sound weird, but here it goes
i was on a run with my monk, and halfway through the area he asks us to pay,..everyone pays, but i realize i did not bring my money with me, so i tell him i will pay at the end of the run, of course he does not believe me, dont blame him to be honest, then,.. i decide to give him some "reassurance" by giving him my armor until the the end of the run, now this armro had like 1 run on it at the time , ya lol anyway, we get to the last stop, so i place the full amount of platinum in the trade window,,4 mins later he says nothing but repeatedly shuffling between the storage and me, i am wispering him asking him if something is wrong, when i get a replay like "pjfwa" and suddenly he logs off and leaves my monk all alone in her cloth and tattered bandage fun
also something that i am sure must be mentioned somewhere else is that when it comes to people who are looking for ways to trouble others, spamming, scamming etc most of the time with a few *exceptions* they really dont give dam about wat you think of them, and as hard as it may be to reply with a witty comment to their wispers, just stick em on ignore, its tempting not to but really i wasted too much of my playing time trying to "convert" these people to not do these things or trying to argue with them etc, i believe someone in the forums has a very nice signature about argueing with "idiots" sorry cant remember exactly,
but a nice bunch of stuff from the rest of you guys, very interesting

it was my first ever HA match, also my first ever PvP (pre searing match doesnt count i guess)
my team secided to do a ranger spike build (if you dont know what it is, all rangers must fire together at a specific target) . i had no idea what it is and i decided that my group would benefit the most if i would kill the monk while there fighting the others. so i targeted the monk, and ran straight in the ennemy team to kill it (monk was far in the backline). of curse i got spiked right away with Orbs and such and my team got a good laugh.
