not changing your profession when you go out Skill caping, and giving my builds to Racthoh Demini.

Personally forgetting to change builds is my biggest. I rarely change them once I find a nice balanced build - I usually have farming characters and playing characters. I have two that sort of straddle the line - of those two I tend to not notice I used the wrong build until the first group we meet in a mission or quest. Thankfully I'm a hench/hero user and they do not get mad when I do so

In my opinion this was the thing I regret the most - it has probably cost me more gold than any other decision I have made.
Someone asked about customization: I always customize any weapon I use for damage - that 20% is significant. Otherwise I do not, I have found I want to trade it around for its mod. For instance, "Isis the Red" (my Dervish) has an axe, sword, and two bows customized to her for her heroes. None of my caster weapons since Rago's have been customized - I do not care about damage. As far as I know that is typical, at the least it is the best combination of damage and flexibility as far as I know.

2. Played Factions past Flesh Golem cap stage
3. Continous to play Factions.
Smart thing that i've done: Not killing myself after playing factions.

Ok here's mine:
When I first started playing, never bothered to read any forums/sites, just kinda muddled through as ya do. Also never spent anytime in any of the "trade centres". Me and hubby got our char's (me warrior, him necro) to Deldrimor War Camp ( we started off in Prophecies), and one day whilst I was off work I thought I'd take her into Sorrows. This was about end July, beginning of August time.
Took all hench and took Orozar Highstone quest. Didn't do too bad - didnt finish the quest, mapped out. As a drop I had got this strange green casters weapon. Showed ity hubby when he came home, then stuck it in my backpack and thought no more about it. Carried it round for about 2 weeks, eventually checked it's price at merch, saw it was worth only 35 gold and thought, "pffffffffft must be crap" and sold it.
About 3 weeks later hubby was on a forum, think it was here and started laughing - yup you guessed it; I flogged Rago's Staff to the bloody merchant!
Moral of the story - read the bloody forums before you sell!!

Um...probably selling 2 items for a total of 12k underpriced. Was feeling grumpy that day...lol.
When I was really noob (first 1 month of play) I finally got 2k and I wanted a max bow...I used that 2k and bought a BLUE max Shadow Bow, no inherent, Icy String, req 12....

The other day I was out skill capping and accidentally double aggroed. Since I'm going for Survivor on that character, I killed the boss, capped, and resigned immediately, then noticed just afterward that he'd dropped his green
Another adventure from my skill capping; I went out, killed the boss to cap from, then ran to the next town to unlock it. As soon as I zoned into the town, I realized I forgot to cap the skill. Whoops

At least yours had combat in it, mine was against one support smiter whos only way of killing me was casting balthazars aura and running into me. I of course ran away.

First HA battle I ever went in, we were running a Blood Spike team, and the leader told me to copy a build off gwShack. The only build I had fully unlocked was the WoH/Infuser, so I went that, not realising I had put all my points in Prot, not Healing.
And it wasn't until halfway through the first map did I realise that my Infuse wasn't actually doing any benefit...
I just kept quiet and didn't tell anyone, and it was fine =)

Last week I had a gold max damage, 15^50 colossal sword drop and sold it for 10k. The next day a guild mate told me that they're worth as much as crystalline swords.

I wish I saw this tread a while back.
I was working with Mojave Mango and her alliance in the Fissure of Woe and we just finished the Wailing Lord. After we get him I see and obsidian chest and start singing "ima gonna open a chheeesssstttt~" over Teamspeak. Next thing I hear is the battery saying "Here it comes!" then suddenly 6 Skeletal Berserkers jump on me. I applied Whirling Defense of course...before the 6 Wild Blows.

(1) Allowing Cappers to join mission groups because you believe them when he/she says "I'll stay to the end of the mission if I can cap".
(2) Deleting a year old character because I wanted to try something different only to find I liked my old character build so I have to start over.
(3) Not asking ahead of time if everyone is carrying a rez sig in a group (followed closely behind by not asking Monks if they are healers to avoid the surprise smiters).

For all you that sold you black dye drop in pre for 1g count your blessings at least you got the 1g I dyed my starter sword on my first warrior. I was a little upset that you couldn't really see the effects. A little more when a better sword dropped my next time out. Shocked when I saw someone spam WTB all dyes 50g black 500g. Had to turn off the game for a day when I got to post and saw WTB all dyes 200g black 12k.

It took me way too long to figure out the whole "trade mountain troll tusks to collectors and get 125 gold for 5 rather than 40 gold (if you went to merchant)" thing.

i've done plentys of stupid stuff...like,
1. waay back when...me and a friend (both of us being 55 monks) were trying to see who had the most Demonic Remains, and i, at the time had 12 full piles and a pile of 127 ... and he was only almost finished with his 11th pile, so i said i was going to sell mine and start over...so when it came down to the last pile when i hit sell...i guess i lagged? b/c it didnt sell..so i double clicked "Sell" and ended up selling my pile of 54 ectos under it................................
2. (this one isnt completely on me) i was being a Healers Boon W/mo in RA, for fun ya...and we had just gotten our 7th consec, and the other warrior said "Nice, Good Job Monk" but our team consisted of R/Me; W/R; Me/N ; and me.....hahah
3. Couple weeks ago....Heros Ascent, Eurospiking, i was war...i Dash'd in...and Frenzy'd vs 3 Zaishen mesmers.........
4. Once Upon a Time when Sigils Were worth more than what they are now... I Sold My Sigils for 6.5k....the next day they were selling for 12k
5. Opened the HoH Chest before enemys were gone /doh
6. Thought Pre-Searing was fun.......................................

I learned of GW while playing another RPG game. When I bought GW, I was told that the best way to learn the game basics was with W/Mo, and the game was PvE and PvP. I didn't like the idea of PvP, D2 ruined that. Anyways here goes.
Day 1, hour 1; Created a warrior. Ran around trying to figure out how to make it go where I wanted it to go, trying to read the tips and the conversations going on at the bottom of the screen. Finally got the first quest done, and got Frenzy and Healing signet. Talked to Devona, and the Scribe in Ashford. Back to Ascalon and got the 2nd profession quest. Chose monk, of course. Back to Ashford and completed the Monk quest. Took Monk as 2nd. Went to Ascalon to collect reward. Was told to see Tydus. I did and wound up "Leaving it all behind." Got my butt kicked in the academy PvP. When I arrived in post, I was under the impression that this was the PvP part of the game. I left the game, deleted that warrior and made another. Imagine my surprize when I learned ..............

The other day I decided to delete my monk and start fresh with a new monk. My monk had made it as far as Beacon's Perch and Level 13, so she wasn't a brand new character, but also wasn't one that I had invested a ton of hours into. I simply did not like her name or her appearance and it was worth it to start over.
Ok, I'm not totally stupid. I knew I didn't want to delete all the armor and items on her without selling and salvaging what I could first. I took her into the Ice Tooth Cave and sold all her items then stripped down and salvaged all the materials and runes that I could from the armor. I dumped the runes into storage and sold the excess materials to the merchant.
Next I logged out and deleted the monk.....before dumping her gold into storage. I was soo careful sell off everything she was holding but never dumped the gold I got from all of it.

I'll nominate this for funniest thing I've heard in chat for awhile...
I was Arborstone forming a team for the mission. We had 2 Warriors, 1 Ranger, 2 Rits, 1 Necro and a Henchie Monk. Before starting I asked who was going to carry the Urn. The Necro had already said that he had never done the mission before and would prefer not to carry if possible.
I'm not too familiar with the Ritualist profession, so I asked the group if a Rit could carry. One of the Rits said they couldn't because they have to carry ashes. Ok, np there. The other Ritualist replied....
"Idiot! Tanks carry! Tanks always carry the items! UR a nooob!"
Uh, no! We're kinda expected to fight a little bit. The entire team was laughing at him for 5 minutes.

Took my warrior to Kamadan.
Wanted to see how Sunspear armor looked like, and so I bought the 20g version.
Tried the new armor, liked it, so I decided to buy the max AL one in Consulate Docks.
To free inventory space and avoid confusion, I started salvaging the 20g armor pieces. Unfortunately, hadn't put off one piece of it, so I salvaged my 15k Kurzick chest piece with superior vigor, 50K net loss just with one click ...
Sold to merchant all my normal salvage kits, from then on I use only expert and superior.
