How some people can call Fire Imps heavy :P
They're no higher than lvl 11
If that's not what you mean then you realy need to learn your Bestiary tbh.
It's [wiki]Lava Imp[/wiki] you're referring to if you see them cast Meteor Shower.
As for thoughest one i've encountered so far...
I think [wiki]Lushivahr the Invoker[/wiki] did a fine job in pissing me off and sending my party off to 60% DP

I take great, great relish tackling these things with my necro, ranger and mesmer (ss, broad head & empathy/backfire respectively) since the nightmare they've given my other characters.
Ruby Djinns, Spark Titans, Shiro'ken Elementalists, Margonite Sorcerers, always die first when I meet them. I guess I just have the tactic of shutting down their offensive capabilities first and then take out the monks.
Save for the Awakened Acolytes and Cavaliers. There's been more then a few times where I thought I'd delt with a group, only to find that a Cavalier resed an Acolyte, that started to bring back the others and then I have to wipe out the entire mob all over again.

Marrow Scarabs are very effective. With their touches and their Well of the Profane they are the bane of all wammos. I loved it when ANet added them to Prophet's Path to spoil that area for all the solo farmers.
Phaern Majes
Leviathan of the Deep, only monster I know that can do 600 damage a whack, and whacks quite often.
Rusty Deth
Ruby Djiin's are nothing...BHA and Concusion Shot ftw.
Personally I hate the Diamonds cause they tank like crazy. Not hard, but time consumming.
And Jade Brotherhood Kinghts seems to have a rather quicker than normal recharge on Triple Axe.

And the nominations for most irritating monster are:
Prophecies:
- Ice Imps. God, I hate Ice Imps. (Who doesn't?)
- Wind Riders (lvl17.) Cry of Frustration is aptly named.
- Avicarra Fierce. R-Spike hurts...
Factions:
- Jade Brotherhood. Something for everyone! Big AoE damage+KD...
- Dredge Monks. Oh dear, lets hope we get lucky with interrupts...
- Shiroken Elementalist. Happy, slivery, burny Death! Fun for all the family!
Nightfall:
- Sub-lvl20 Monks. Ususally running away before you've even targeted em...
- Stoneflesh Mandragor. Weakness+KD+seemingly unlimited energy pool. Ouch.
- Torment Creatures. Killing machines, even in multiples of one.
And the nominations for most irritating monster are:
- Wurms. Too many reasons to list.
- Diamond Djinn. Slow you down. A lot.
- Rain/Rock Beetles. That sound...

Wind Riders.... just attack without skills and they drop SO easy.
Ice Imps.... no comment. Hell froze over and Ice Imps were born.

Oh come on. Torment mobs are only effective because they're 4/8 levels higher than you, have infinite energy so QZ doesn't bother them, aren't effected by Environment effects and duplicate if your not careful.
They cheat so much they don't count.
Jade Brotherhood get my vote. They're the same level as us and cause so many problems to dumb AI... Dragon Stomp + Triple/Cycline, that and the Power Return spam.
Ruby Djinns are strong... but can be shutdown so easily.
Aatxe don't even count. They're lvl28... its like saying a Tortureweb Dryder from DoA is effective. Its not, it just does 4 or 5 times more damage than your eles do.
Oh yeah, Ice Imps and Avicara Fierce mobs get an honourable mention. Maelstrom is fine until mixed with henchies, then you get a 60dp. Avicara Fierce are just annoying! That Ignite Arrows/Dual Shot spike... if they had a better elite than Practiced Stance to go with it they'd definatly be 1 of the most powerful enemies out there. Imagine them with Forked Arrow, Needling Shot and Prep Shot...

I am predominantely a necro...that being said, Mesmers and dervishes cause the most angst. I go with the dervish beetles, Ruby Djinn (not me or D, but will doa totla party wipe in no time)...Dasha Vestibule was the last mission I got masters on for my prot title...
A deadly trio of fire, Hloy damage Djin and roaring ethers to really make me miserable
Also a nod to the Stone summit between Yaks and beacons' perch...took me a week to find new skills and change my build

With the Avicarra, I specifically meant the ones that always end up ganking you at the mineral springs entrance. Wise can be wanded to death, so they're no biggie for me and Braves can be kited.
When you met the wind riders for the very 1st time, they were irritating, no? Don't tell me you wanded them to death at lvl14?
Stoneflesh aren't annoying in a normal capacity, but their skill chain is an effective one, more so if the change to weakness gets implemented permanently.
Oh and you're talking about the Sandstorm Crag monsters, right? Well, theyre not nearly as annoying if you just flag out the hench as soon as they cast sandstorm - leaving them with just stone daggers. I do agree that the earlier ones with Armour of Earth can be annoying, but degen=gg extra armour.

- Shadow of Fear: They can keep up an infinite amount of minions if provided with corpses.
- Behemoth Gravebane, Scytheclaw Behemoth: Just plain annoying while going through Vabbian territory.
- Sarss, Stormscale: Going through Maishang Hills, it's impossible to avoid his group, and he has single-handedly whiped out my group several times. This goes for a lot of elementalist bosses in Factions.
That's about it.

either Spark of Titans or Shiro'ken Elementists always gave me the most trouble.
Lets Get to Healing
Lag. Worst monster ever. appears in any and every zone.
Carinae
Jade Knights were awful. Just awful. Once you get out of the city, Factions gets much easier. On the otherhand, they teach you how to fight decent warriors.
The Luxon Naga are somewhat tough.
Rain of Terrors are tough, but Prot Spirit and LB Gaze gets them good. Prot yourself and the monks and anyone else critcal before engaging.
Avicara Fierce are extremely annoying. They aren't hard to kill like the other monsters, but they don't deal enough damage to trigger most defensive spells. Then they swarm ya and it's death by numbers. They tear up minions as well.
Regarding Bosses:
Mungri Magicbox is the toughest boss in all of the games. God he sucks to fight. AMAZING healing capacity.
The Ele boss in the NW corner of Poisoned Outcrop...the one with Sandstorm. I simply CAN'T kill this boss with minions. Period. Can't. If he gets Sandstorm off, you're done.

As far as difficult monsters go, I'll give my vote to Josinq the Whisperer. The mob he/she/it spawns with contains a second monk, making this mob VERY rough to take down (at least for me it was).
Str0b0
Yeah most any monk boss that spawns with a second monk is going to be a loooooong fight unless you have the godliest interrupter of all time. A hero interrupter works well but even they can't stop some nasty spells like MoP, which pretty much totally screws you if you aren't looking out for it. They basically end up being one monk healing another monk who is healing the first monk.
mrmango
I say the Awakened Grey Giants, especially when their heads fall off. XD
Wolydarg
First time through Abaddon's Mouth and finding out the nasty surprise known as Willa the Unpleasant with her little buddy Cairn the Destroyer...it was pretty ouchy. Not to mention this was with an equally inexperienced pug, we got raped pretty badly. Luckily one of us had rebirth and 15% dp later, we got raped again. From then on distracting shot never left my ranger's bar.
I understand how now there are skills such as diversion, arcane whatever, heroes that follow targets, and all sorts of goodies that make this boss much easier, but damn, when I first went up against Spectral Agony in combination with the most annoying boss in prophecies combined with mursaat jades/Cairn trying to break you, it was a pretty scarring memmory. End-game mursaat mobs get my vote..

Ice Imps- I had my survivor just ascend and well on the way to the 2nd level of Survivor. Tried to get to the first mission after Drokner's Forge and even with a full party of henchies, got handed my first death by a pack of Ice Imps in a lag spike. So, I really hate ice imps.

Now my votes:
Tyria:
1. Mursaat/Jade
2. Avacara Fierce
3. Flame Djinn (the ones in SF during FA/The Forge Heart)
Cantha:
1. Naga
2. Drudge Gardeners
3. Oni of the Deep (granted they are easy to kill, but there are hordes of them)
Elona:
1. Grey Giants, especially after their heads are lopped off
2. Torment creatures in general
3. Roaring Ethers
As for bosses:
Tyria:
The Iron Forgeman, while not really a boss, since you fight the rage binders, he can easily kill an unaware party
Willa the Unpleasant and her buddy in Abaddon's Mouth
Cantha:
Ssuns, Blessed of Dwayna - Blessed light boss in the archipelagos.
Sarss, Stormscale - Lightning Surge Boss in the Maishang Hills.
Elona:
Fire Lord - Mind Burn in the Hidden City in the far back
Any boss with Invoke Lightning

and my vote goes for Droajam, Mage of the Sands, first attemp fool me went SF, and the spawn was worse, the boss and 2 little mini-him, koss couldn't land a hit, 2nd attempt i went echo maelstrom + deep freze and that helped a lot
Str0b0
Mystic Regen actually pwns Spectral Agony. I found this out the other day and was suprised. I mean you still get degen but it is manageable degen.

Had to put one hell of a spike onto each gardener at a time, disabling hero skills and activating the right ones all at once. Wasn't easy (didn't have any caster shutdown in my group). RoF was the biggest problem, nullifying the spikes.

The Devourers (Ranger kind) because I play melee and the only non-melee I play is ranger. Therefore, I am always open to whirling defence.
Also, seeing as I play melee, the Afflicted Ranger was quite annoying with Throw Dirt. Actually, I hate all the afflicted...
Hmm...well, an UNeffective monster was the Kournans. They were lvl 16-20 well past the 20 mark, which made them terribly easy, same with the Veldts...
I also didn't like the Monoliths purely because of Crippling Anguish (Mirage Boga too).
Basically, I hated anything that would disrupt my melee characters (and ranger).

Warrior - Perfected Armor
Ranger - Anything with evading/blocking stances
Elementalist - Shiro'ken Elementalists and Ruby Djiins
Necromancer - Any Necromancers with anti-melee hexes
Mesmers - Any with lots of interrupts
Assassin - Oni
Ritualist - Any Ritualist Channeling boss
Paragon - Spear of Torment
Dervish - Scythes of Chaos and Madness Titans

Cantha
Dredge Gardeners/Shiroken Elementalists ("ow ow ow ow ow", what more can I say?)
Elona
Droajam and his mini-me's - when I went to cap him he had 3 of the blighters with him

I went out to find the Legendary Mungri Magicbox earlier today.
Ive even decided to make a new Restoration Elite!
Godly is Mungri
Invulnerable is Mungri
Nasty is the Magicbox surprise
Backfire wasnt Good Enough
I suppose that sums him up, the last Elite was a bit over the top though, Backfire may do good there.

My vote goes for Mungri Magicbox. There are other monk boss/monk foe combos, but none as efficient as Mungri.
Other monsters can kill you quickly, or drag you into aggro range, or attract more monsters out of nowhere, but none approach Mungri for pure frustration.

Yes... he has mates healing him. He has many mates. He is the Dredge Alpha Male! Mungri is very popular with the females ya see.... You'd love him too if you saw what he can do with his magic box!
And to say he causes "pure frustration" is to do him a disservice; he just has a lot of stamina! Another reason why the ladies love him. He invigorates them!
Ouchie
1. Titans in the Titan Quests especially Defend North Kryta and Denravi
2. Wurms especially in the desolation when you are a wurm and there are four or five at once
3. The Crimson the first time I tried Captured Son lol - I will always remember that quest with my newly made assasin

Came back with a group of more skilled PuGs later and beat it.... Now I can duo the entire area with one monk hero....
[I'm also Assassin]...
Its not that they're clever... or particularly talented skill-users....
There are just fvcking LOADS of them.
