I didn't, but my Warrior has been in presear since december 2005 as my officers and i run a teaching service by my guild and we help out new players... (its a good recruiting tool)

besides the fact that dye drops are great in presear

I miss my uber build:

It's really is the ignorance. I remember how cool I thought I was when I made it to L.A. for the first time, and how long it took me to get there. Doing EVERY quest along the way. Getting stuck at THK. Getting to droks, and having to spend 1.5k on each armor peice(it was so much). Good times.....

Good times. ;d

Times before the expansions were great. I earned my first max armor set selling altheas ashes in piken square. I don't think anyone do that quest anymore.

I remember the fabled Droknar's Forge, and the mysterious "Desert", where you could change secondary profession. I explored almost the entire Old Ascalon area looking for this "Desert".

I remember my very first mission in the crystal desert, playing a necro and casting nasty hexes like [malaise] on the bosses. Probably without spending any attribute points in curses. I owe a big thanx to the PuGs that accepted me and my horrible skills and skillbar.

lol, thread necromancy.

I miss the early factions days when I could actually run binding rituals on my Ritualist before the nerfs.

Aspy was so great back then.

I miss back when there was only 1 campaign so everyone wasn't spread out AND NO HEROES so people actually teamed up with each other. Along with the time when guilds actually spoke in guild chat besides constant profanity, and I miss back when all my friends played =(

oh ya and I HATE inscribable weapons

Yeah but then we'd have less content and that would majorly suck.

What I also miss about early factions was how people didn't always complain about the classes.

I miss having no titles and no heroes.

Both drastically changed GW for the worse imo.

I just started playing guild wars two months ago, after reading this I feel like I'm playing the crap game now. But even I noticed some of the things people have said, like the players who don't know what common english words are. Or how to spell words with four letters or more. Although, what do you expect? With no subscription fees it was just a matter of time before the game went downhill. Subscription fees are what keep the whiners away. Whiners=the downfall of games.

I was in the beta since 2004. but I never tested Pre-sear(I didn't know it existed xD) Then the day before release, (when the testers were allowed in before the actual release) I went in and was like "Whoah!! What is this??! This isn't Lion's Arch! Cooooool." I would give anything to experience this feel again when I play GW2. Thats all I wish for. I care nothing for the small details most people probably flip over heels for, I just want that experience. I just want that "kewwwwl /drool"

Whoah, that was serious thread necromancy...

One thing I miss is filling out a guild group with puggers instead of heroes. It was standard practice even after heroes were incorporated, but... maybe we just had bad luck, but we had an unbroken string of bad experiences doing so that it's now an unwritten rule that guild groups get filled out with heroes - or friends of guildies - instead.

That's not to say that there aren't such things as good PuGs any more - it's just that picking up a couple of extras to fill out a group to be nice to the people looking for a groupin a mostly empty outpost... well, once upon a time the people who are active in lower-activity times tended to be good players, but nowadays that one or two extra humans will turn out to have not allowed enough time for the mission, will overaggro, or will otherwise complicate the mission in one way or another.

I used to PUG. I don't do that anymore except for some very specific areas, because it seemed I'd keep getting increasingly aggravated by things like overaggro, not pulling, multiple leavers for increasingly inane reasons... and all that only came after GWEN.

I miss actually being able to PUG properly, instead of collecting the odd mishmash and filling it with heroes.

And Presear was just magical. I was so disappointed post-sear - "OMG WTH HAPPENED? "

I miss absolutely nothing since everything that was in Prophecies is still in the current game. The only thing i miss is a game without "good old days" whiners. I will make shure to constantly remind people that they are in the golden age of GW2 when i log on the day i finally get it, and that they should enjoy it wile it lasts.

I miss being able to explore the game and still be blown away by it and it was still so new and amazing. I miss also people that would actually come up with their own builds instead of the generic builds that all you see now.

I don't quite understand what your stating here.
How did you know what type of Rune it was if you didn't ID it? As far as I know they came color coded on the drop. Sometimes the color was wrong and didn't match what it was suppose to be. You had to ID it to see what Rune was there. I have only been playing for 30 mths so maybe this is when GW first came out, you could tell what profession the rune was but not what type. If thats the case then so sorry..

I do miss the days of Ettin Farming for Runes and that feeling of being rich when you came across a Sup. Vigor or Absorption.

I kinda miss the way Favor worked. Now its always there and they even send a message like "25,000 minutes of Favor Left" Why is it always on now?

This would about sum it up. When the game was a game that everyone could enjoy. People didn't act like they were God's gift to GW. There was less rage quitting and far less arrogance.

Now most don't care if you are a monkey throwing fecies as long as you have the rank they want.

Back then, the game was also a lot simpler. We didn't have Hard mode and people wanting mobs to be hard enough to make other people want to bash their heads into their desk.

actually, I'm a new player and I experienced of these things when I played Prophecies last April. The newness and the (mostly fun) PUGs were great plus they even tolerated my UB3R soul-barbs hexer necro .
It lasted up until I finished Factions. Someone actually bought a gold item from me for 1k

After that...NF and EoTN got very boring since no one even bothered to talk or anything. NF and EoTN seemed to become like a freaking online single-player game.

I miss those days. I especially hate the elitism and noob-calling. I ended up with a few groups who kept noob-calling each other which was freakin childish. Go Go Prophecies FTW!
