Wrong!

It is: -
1. Rarity
2. Skin
3. Req
4. Mods

Wowzors. You know everything about the Guild Wars market and come out with statements like that Shocking stuff. Especially considering The Admins Bane is a Price Check Guru, Moderator of the Venteris Sale, one of the most knowledgable people on Guild Wars market and has made sickening amounts of gold.

You claim to be like uber knowledgable on the Guild Wars market yet give a jaw droppingly stupid question.

You ask The Admins Bane to think. Lol I really suggest you put your thinking cap on as well I am feeling pretty sorry for you after statements.

Unless it's a rare req, such as req 7/8 uninscribable or req 8 inscribable, req doesn't play a critical factor in item value.
Savio sums what I would say up nicely

This whole topic has been discussed to death anway.

I agree with Bane. I've sold many a high req item for well over 40K purely because the skin was rare.

Remember people can show off the Skin of a weapon, more then the Req.

I sure would prefer a 15^50 req12 Dwarven Axe over a 15^50 req9 Battle Axe.
Not becoz it's better but becoz rarity is a given thing.
As for the 20/20 +30 thing.
I've got a req 8 perfect Furious Chaos Axe of Axe Mastery.
Basically the same stats as the Razorstone.
That weapons gives me much more pleasure than it's green counterpart.
Not becoz the req is lower but becoz it's one of the few very good drops i've had so far.
Ok Chaos Axes aren't THE rarest skin nowadays but I'm sure people would still pay up to a 50k more should i have two identicals apart from the skin.
I'm not a price check wizard but i do know vanity is all over.
Why would you need 15k armor if you can get armor with the same stats for only 1/10 of the price. Bragging rights.

I always liked chaos axe, its one of the best looking axes in the game imho

pre-modding is wrong imho.. If you know who you trading with, chances are the dood would rather have it with (example ) an icy hilt rather than a sundering one.

and sundering shouldnt be better for "spike warriors" unless the game changed a lot :/

What is the history of this odd love for Sundering?

Sundering is the worst mod ever! Why would anyone use it when it proven that DPS is better with Vamp for example.

Sundering's okay but vastly overpriced in PvE, especially on swords.

People don't always buy items to use them, some people like to collect. And a collection needs to be "perfect".

It amuses me that you would compare 2 different reqs of the same skin to “prove” that req > skin.

And for the record:
Rarity(skin+color+bonus+req) > Skin > Inherent Bonus > Req >>>>>>> Mods

Anywho:
In my oppinion, these days there are times when adding mods is worth it and times when adding mods is not worth it.

I would never bother to add a +30 pommel to a Req8 Gothic sword in anticipation of getting an equivalent bump in the swords sell price, it probably won't happen. Selling the 2 separately will likely make you more of a profit.

On the other hand, when high-end mods where selling for 100k+ it was silly to expect an equivalent return by adding them to an item. item + (100k+5ectos mod) + (100k+5ectos mod) did not equal a sale of; item value + (200k+10ectos). But these days most mods are virtually free(+30 axe grip = 10k) so, from a simple cost-benefit perspective, adding them may be worth it in some cases. For example; a 50k axe with a +30 fortitude grip and a 10% furious haft could very well sell for 70k much faster then you could unload all 3 pieces separately for the same amount of money combined. Personally I would rather add a 5k +30 dagger handle to a pair of dagger, or add a 7k +30 grip to a bow, to make them look “prettier”, for a quick turn-over, then to try and sell the daggers and the handle or the bow and the grip separately, it’s just not worth the time and storage space to sell them individually.

Like I said, 6 months ago adding mods to sell an item was a huge no-no, but these days it just takes a bit of experience to know when to add mods and when not to.

And that is my two cents.

here is something in the same train of though

say I loot a near perfect grape weapon, throw on a 15^50 to replace the crap inscription it will probably have and the mods are already great, I will have a hard time selling the item for anything worthwhile even on rare skin weapons because it is grape not gold, despite it being same skin and same stats. the sad thing is no one but the person who sold it and the person who bought it would even have to know.
