How much energy?

Spent most of today retooling my mez and monk for the "PvP-esque" setup.
How much health is considered normal/good? I went from 520 to 600 by switching off the sups for minors and moving to survivor insignia on the headpieces.

On a PvP character I'd optimally have ~630, but I don't have the money to spend on perfect fort upgrades for my shields in PvE. I'd PvP on a PvP character in any case, with any goodies my PvEites can dredge up.

generally 35 energy. there's no real reason to play normally on the 25 set unless there's edenial, since 25 energy is very little room to work with depending on the build. then a typical 50something set, and a high 70something set.

Monks who need 50-60 energy should try to learn some better energy management, I'd pick some extra armor over something I don't really need, anyday. QFT.

I chuckle when I'm in a group with a monk who is spamming their energy is low...then I watch them for a bit and find out they're spamming Healing Breeze...(and on one or two occaisions followed by Smite)

My only monk who has what I would consider to be "a lot of energy" is my new monk, who has 60 energy, and is a Smiter (fun character...Jimmy doesn't heal ). His energy rarely falls below 50% either even when he's spamming Smiting Prayers spells.

The only time you would need a lot of energy is when you are casting off barrier @15 nrg it is quite a lot to cast those maintained enchantments. It is ok on 1 or 2 party members and bond on the rest.

Signet of Devotion, smart casting.

I like having 640 health and 30-50esque energy.

Managing your energy just means not overspending your 4 pips of regen when you can avoid it. This works the same whether you have 25 or 72 max energy. Sometimes you will have to cast several skills in quick succession, so you may have to swap to a higher energy set. Most times, though, you can just stay in the 35e set. I used to play with 25e most of the time before I got a brilliant suggestion from Ensign to combine my low energy and wanding sets.

I have 50 energy and four pips of regen. I rarely need more than one energy management skill if that. I usually use (depending on the situation of course) Fellblade +5/20% enchant and Byzzar's benediction. If not that than staff of the forgotten (divine favor).

I've started working on getting my monk pvp-ready, which she almost is (only thing really needed would be a superior vigor... but I'm too poor for that).

At any rate, I've also taken care of my armor (survivor insignia, of course) and weapon sets.
Now they are:

Main set:
1. +5e Katana of Enchanting + Shield (Tactics, in case I'm going balanced stance), total energy: 35

E-denial set:
2. -5e Crennelated Sword of Enchanting + Shield, total energy: 25

High Energy set:
3. +5e Katana of Enchanting + Byzzr's Benediction, total energy: 47

Emergency set:
4. +5e Katana of Enchanting + Collector 15/-1 Divine Favor off-hand, total energy: 62

Too poor atm to get a fortitude mod for a second sword (I prefer swords over axes or spears, Deadly Riposte ftw), same for better offhands than Byzzr's Benediction.

Even with 35 energy, 3 pips (keeping up Holy Veil) can be enough if you play efficient, though pressure can always get to you, of course.

Oh, my HP is at 590, due to lack of that superior vigor.
PvP monks tend to have 640hp when going healing, 610 when going protection prayers.

For reference:
600 for both monk and mez now.

480 base
+50 vigor
+40 insignia
+30 shield (weapons have 20% enchants/+5 AL)
= 600 health.
