The company also aims to provide a multi-faceted game portfolio to overseas users. Exteel™ and Dungeon Runners™ will be launched in the first half of the year, while the company anticipates the launching of Tabula Rasa and a new major update to the Guild Wars franchise in the latter half of 2007. |
where's the zOMG no chap4 until 2nd half of 2007 thread?

There was rumor a few months back about only 1 chapter release in 2007 in the month of August. So maybe a lot remember and its not surprising them much. That's my guess.
VacantStare
It's right here, shockingly enough.
KamikazeChicken
Gaile or Alex already told everyone there was only going to be 1 game in 2007. Since there hasn't been any buzz on the next campaign, it's only logical to assume the game would be in the third or probably fourth quarter.

Can you please quote or link, cause i don't recall this.
(them saying , yes only one chapter this year, not them saying its possible that there might only be one chapter this year, its possible for me to jump from a 20 story building and survive, but what are the chances? )

You didn't realize they were dazzling us with new updates and weekend events to blind us from the truth.....

My guesses why there isn't a thread:
1. People are busy with the current game(s).
2. People are busy with other games.
3. People aren't foaming at the mouth for new skills.
I could be wrong on all 3, though.

I lol'd so hard when I read what you wrote....lol.
Or perhaps its like this: (lol)
Gaile and Alex Weekes are worshippers of Abaddon, and are simply Mesmorizing us and tricking us (with their trickery) into believing a false reality (which they btw are very good at). Then, when we are all dazed with new title annoucments and rideable hippos, Mike O'Brian will fly down from the clouds and drop the bomb....only it wasn't a bomb...it was a cake....filled with info on Ch4. Except it wasn't really info for Ch4, it was just silly random things to blind us from the truth. Before you know it, its September 2007, and Anet announces Guild Wars: Blastphomy!
**end extreme sacasm**
Wow, well I wonder what will happen in between the release of Ch3 and 4? My only guess is the event team will be hard at work, and I'm positive some form or shape of a expansion will come by the time Ch4 comes out. Anet knows that they don't want to lose customers in-between both releases, I'm just interested to see what they will do!
Regardless, I'm sure the next game is going to be great!

Us coming to a conclusion on something ( events to keep us busy for example)
Or you saying something like no wonder we aren't getting any info on chapter 4 yet is very different from you saying Gaile said they giving us these events so they can suck our money when the new chapter is released are very different things.
( I'm not saying you say/said these things, just example)
1) Us saying something, we don't have any power so basically our words mean $#!7
2)Gaile saying it makes it Law
Thats why i want the link/quote cause for now its just something some guy is saying which his words mean $#!7 , not trying to be rude Kamakazie , just following my example.

Maybe they just want to take their time on the next one. Who knows?
Now that NCSoft's announced it, though, I imagine we'll be getting some sort of official word from ANet on the subject soon.

Then it better be finished and not be a plot-hole filled grind fest with a barely existent story and a questionable amount of landmass. Because if it is, I'm tossing my future Guild Wars collection before I get it.

Sheesh, it'll take until late summer/fall to balance the skills we have now. I personally am in no hurry for them to throw hundreds more into the mix.
Avatar of Abaddon - Elite Form (Mysticism): Your attacks deal shadow damage and kill your target instantly.
Blinding Scream - Elite Shout (Air Magic): All enemies in earshot are blinded for 40...90 seconds. Blinding Scream is reapplied to a foe if that foe moves, attacks, or uses a skill.
Shield of Impregnation - non-elite Spell (Protection Prayers): for 10...20 seconds, target ally takes 0 damage from attacks and spells. Divine Favor bonus is tripled for this spell.
Hellfire - Elite spell (Fire Magic): Target foe and all foes within earshot of that foe take 100...350 fire damage and are set on fire for 10...25 seconds. Enchanted foes are set on fire for an additional 5...10 seconds.
and on and on, as Kurt Vonnegut would say...

heh perhaps the Factions team is being 'relieved' of their Ch 4 duties
anyways I agree with those above, there is a LOT to fix before moving on

Who cares, I'm still making my way through Nightfall PvE- one hellishly boring quest at a time. At least I can unlock all the skills before Chapter IV comes out.
And a lot can happen till that time too, like NCsoft going bankrupt and Guild Wars getting bought by Blizzard for example...

I wouldn't agree with the "tons to fix" crowd, but I'm not going to complain about Anet taking thier time and doing it right either. Factions was excellent, I have high hopes for Chapter 4.
CDittric77
I think ANet knows that giving some time for the player base to increase before releasing a fourth chapter will give them some more flexibility in approaching new content. They balance the game a bit, nerf as they see fit, and watch as people that bought one of the later chapters begin to buy and play through the remaining ones.
Erik Fox
I take this as good news, so Ch4 will be more thought-out and thorough.
cosyfiep
ah, we can only hope that with the extra time that they will put forth a more finished product that is worth waiting for.....
not to mention finishing stuff they already have live.....that should take them the rest of this decade!
As for me, I dont really care, I have 8 toons working thru elonia, one has finished 2 are close, one is level 3...........lots of stuff to do in the next bunch of months. And I still havent finished my titles from the other chapters on my innercircle toons.....one did and the other 3 havent.....lots of stuff to do.
(and I agree about the boring quests in nightfall----thats why I have only 1 character thru nf so far.......then I go back and do stuff from other chapters, redo older missions for masters etc.)

well im thinking they are making a new "core" game for the next series of games. the first trillogy is over, and its on to the next series. I dont think it will have any new classes because of this.
so baiscly, i think it will be the new prophices, and hopefully it will come with a few of the things they have been saying they would add, which may be why its taking longer

a new major update to the Guild Wars franchise in the latter half of 2007.....i just want to point something out, its says a new major update, key word update, does not say a new game. I beleive someone said that Chp4 was on track as well. Of course It could mean a new game will not be till 2nd 1/2 of 07 but till we get offical word i will watch and see what happens.

I'm slightly overwhelmed now. Another chapter in the near future might cause my head to asplode.

1 x 4 reset would be nice

Sounds reasonable too if the 'Chapter 4' is not going to an expansion but a whole new beginning to the GW universe. Anyway, there's no need to rush out Chapter 4 so fast, there's still aplenty things yet to be done before all three campaigns are considered completed, just like GTA's way of calculating the % of game completion.

Seriously though I rather it is later, since I know it will only get better and can’t get any worse. I hope I did not vex that (*looks around*). It also could mean a bigger playing field. Also have to save up for the CE version again.

Glad to see there are some people out there looking at the bright side of things. I also see that the trolls are up to their usual pessimistic selves (see page 1). I myself have been completely happy with each and every one of their campaigns so far, happy with all of the professions that they've introduced, and HAPPY that i don't have to PAY for each month that I play.
I won't even get into a rant about the complainers and whatnot, yeah i've compalined about A-net, in the Healbots' contest!! lol

That kinda sucks about Tabula Rasa. Granted I forget about it most of the time, but it's a game that I'd like to know more about. It looks interesting.

Yup, major update COULD refer to skill balance, and it most likely will include that, but we could expect things like WALKING, auction house *prays dearly*, you know stuff that have been requested. But then again i could be wrong, and just really hopeful

i doubt they'll update from basics the existing chapters. it's alot easier to make a new one from scratch..
IF they don't bring new content and a new system and keep the existing ones i'll just wave goodbye and that's it.
Let's hope Guild Wars: Utopia will be something fascinating, unlike....3.

I'm very glad to hear this, although I think people were pretty much made aware of this a little while ago.
Quite simply, PvP cannot survive at the rate that they're rolling out updates currently. Things were shaken up so much upon the release of Nightfall that only now they're getting around to aligning skills and bringing back some kind of balance to competitive play.
Things we do not need any time soon:
- New character classes.
- A ton of new skills.
I think it's the correct decision; release a ton of new classes now and things would be a complete mess. Time needs to be spent balancing what's currently in-game.
