No offense anet fun minigame to play and cool that there will be prizes, but all those people who want a prize and are trying hour after hour to get one and no "luck" is comming there way, some things wrong. So personal I think you screwed up on this mini game.
Again my opnion, and heres a tip for if your in last, sit on boxes till you get echo and super.

I seem to get echo and the distaction skill the most. I save the echo for dual super beetle. Which I usually get so far late in, that I cant use the 20 seconds I get before finishing. Bummer.

At the beggining right when you start moving use the 2 skill and 3 skill at the same time, it will knockdown close foes and put you ahead of everyone. As soon as 3 runs out, use 1.
When you do this, make sure you cut the angles perfectly, if you have done it right, you will be infront of everyone.
From here you should be in first place everytime (works for me) you have 2 options :
Be cool and win the good way, play out with skill while using your skills at inteligent times this inculdes :
Use skill 2 before others will hit you, you can target the nearest beatle with c.
Use 3 and 1 all the time when you are not knocked down, and before every checkpoint.
Only get close boxes, and take the shortest paths.
This will also cause other people that are going for the box(which is usually almost everyone) to get rubbered/blocked and get them mad (and they dont move while they rubber, on the contrary, they go backwards ^^)
Method 2 (Warning Extremely LAME and not recommended but will win you 90% of the time if used right)
You are in first place, take a right at the first opptional path, and go on the box behind the rock. Stay there, dont move untill you have the super rollerbeatle (8) and Echo (6).
Then move again, use skill 6, then use 8, then once 8 runs out, use your next check pointed skills (3)+(2) then once 3 is out use 1, then when 1 is out use 6.

One thing that I like to try and do, is save my echo for a super rollerbeetle. By doing this i have been able to use super rollerbeetle 4 times in one game. But as everyone has said, with all the knock downs it is hard to get ranked

After hours of racing I haven't seen any opponent get more than 460k in any race and I've only gotten up to 462k myself now. I've tried box-camping but I never get the echo-SRB combo fast enough, or there's always something going wrong (several opponents using KD skills on you, sudden lag warping you back,...).
Some things I noticed that may help others: like someone already said even when SRB runs out your speed won't drop that fast so at that point I use Rollerbeetle Dash to keep the same speed up for another 5 seconds. From what I've seen RBD isn't much use when going uphill, it only helps not to slow down in that case. SRB on the other hand will let you go at full speed even when going uphill and still goes reasonably fast through water. The speedboost given by Ram is useful, but when it ends you seem to drop back to the same speed you had when it started. For example I try to use it on the rocky area before check point 3, where you would slow down considerably otherwise. Ram doesn't seem to give any speedboost when you're in the water, so there's not much point in using it there.

About the quests you can do. There is one quest which is bugged. In Monastary you can accept a quest where you have to scare away 5 groups of enemies in a village. So what the quest asks is:
- buy 5 fireworks
So I had a Campagne popper and a sparkle and 3 rockets, so the quest said I had 5, np I thought and went out to do the quest.
I scares away 3 groups and then the quests said I failed, because I need 3 more fireworks. So for some reason suddenly the campagne popper and sparkle didn't count. Went back, bought 3 more rockets and did it again, and again bugged because while the quest says you need 5 fireworks, it means you need 5 rockets and nothing else. This discription is mission, that it only needs rockets and nothing else, or its bugged that it doesn't count the champagne popper and sparkle to finish the quest but counts it to max firework you carry.
So to fix: buy 5 rockets and do the quest. Maybe Anet has to update this problem.

I finally reached the top 100 with a score of 468,360 (ranked #71 now) but I fear it's not going to be enough... The only problem is I used no less than 4 SRB's during that race to get that score (got lucky with a dual echo + SRB) , so I still don't understand how some people can get that score with just one echo + SRB

Thanks for the walkthrough namkey, it's similar to what I run but I do try to get two more bonuses (the one after gate 3 and the one before gate 6), perhaps I'm losing too much time there. One question though, at the top of the hill before gate 5 why do you use ram instead of dash? From what I've seen dash will increase your speed to maximum unlike ram where your speed actually goes down when going downhill.

CAuse I use dash later to keep the speed up over a longer period. Ram speed boost drops quick after i expires, but dash drops slowly. You spread it out to give your speed a little poke upwards at the most effecient times.

Some people say that such players took high risks by hogging the power-up crates. While, to me, it is a tactic to tie up a crate, it does stall the player. It's better, IMO, to keep racing.
I hear that some people are complaining that battling for the win does affect scoring. Remember, that this is PvP, and winners do get Balth Faction pts, with everyone getting gamer points.

Namkey, thanks for the great map and tips. Btw, have you placed in the top 100 with any other characters? I'm curious if it would be possible for a single account to win multiple prizes.
At this moment there are only 61 unique players in the top 100 all-time roster and only around 80 unique players if you include the top 100 daily scores. In other words, if the contest ended now there would be at least 20 winners who haven't shown up on any roster. Let's assume that ArenaNet is keeping track of many more than just 100 high scores. It's just a shame we don't get to see who they all are.

Nah, havent tried with another character. If I get time tomorrow, I'll give it a go, but with the quality of the top 100 scores now, it'd take a hell of a lot of luck to get another time up there. had a few good chances ruined by lag tonight or by someone way in the distance blacking me out at a critical moment.

If you get a super early combo (ie 45 seconds), you can still make the top 100 with no further boosts, if absolutely everything goes perfect and you may need to skip the box before the loop bridge as it is a little out of the way. If you get a second echo or SRB though, you should definately make it, if you can avoid lag that is.
Oh, and finally. Good night. I'm in for 5 1/2 hours sleep. So addictive. Hope I awke up to see as many of you as possible in the top 100, with me still there at the end of course.

As far as what I can add to nameky's guide, I've also started using my ram right before I hit the water boxes so that I can maintain speed while grabbing them. After that it depends on how quickly I get the Echo-SRB combo. If it's fast (under :50 into the race) I won't bother going for any more boxes for the rest of the race; instead, I'll just take the shortest lines I can (this is how I achieved my two top 100 times). If I get the combo after :50 into the race, I'll hit the boxes. If I snag another SRB, I save it until I hit gate 6.
Now I'm going to see if I can "pay it forward" by farming some ingredients for the chefs. Maybe I can make some people in need of piggies happy. Thanks again namkey!

Sorry, but I though that it was a given. Without a combo, yuo have Buckley's chance of making the top 100, so you run back and forth over the two boxes until you lose speed and then you just camp on one. For it to be a chance of top 100 though, you need to get it within a couple of seconds of arriving.

They should have made it so that you can only get a powerup from a box once. I figured this out early on. It really messed the game up. My alliance was happy when they could get 5 in a row, and I'm sitting at 15+.
Btw, those high scores are totally luck based. I legitly got 2 SRB's and echo'd one with no knockdowns the entire race and I only managed to snag 453k. GG.

I got 453k with Namkey's help, but I never get a Super..like ever. So I'm usually getting 434-440s now. I can't ever get a Super so not much I can do. I keep getting KDed by people too and lagged and rubberbanded all over.

Getting the quick Echo-SRB combo is definitely luck-based, but turning that early combo into a top 100 score takes more than luck. Once you get the combo, it's all about running the fastest race you can. Forget about everything else: no boxes, no attacking other racers, nothing at all but taking the quickest lines you can towards the finish. It's "balls-to-the-wall" racing from this point out.
You really only have two luck-based elements to worry about at this point. The obvious one is knockdowns, and those you can mitigate to some degree with thoughtful Harden Shell usage. The other is rubber-banding. The only bit of advice I can give with this is that your biggest danger spot will be the circling bridges after gate 5. This is the one area where it pays to not take the absolute sharpest corners; take it easy here and stick to the middle of the track.

Whats your ping like. I find that with my 500ms or so average, I just seem to lose so much throughout the course as what I'm doing is not matching up with what the game thinks I am doing :S.

Well I got 457k finally with just one Super, I'm not lucky enough to net an echo and Super. I did get an echo after I used that Super though .
But yeah I followed your map namkey and my skill greatly improved, I never got below 435k again and was getting second place with 440ks almost the last 5 races.

Raced Jedi K a couple of times and his 140 ping totally owns my 550 ping :S. Makes life so hard for people in the Oceania region, but then we are used to being screwed in MMORPGs :P
It feels like Im constantly losing time cause my bug keeps jumping backwards from where my computer thinks it is. My best time of 472 was done with a combo at 44 seconds and then another ehco later on which I used to double my dash to get through the cross over bridge area.
Down to 88th place, not gonna make this.
