The only times I got the extra SRB was when I only had the combo after 50 seconds and then it's already too late. Like someone already said it does seem you have more chance of getting an SRB when you're not the leader. I don't have the time to race anymore now so I won't be making top 100 either. I don't except Anet to give away unique items though, wouldn't be surprised if it's just a mini pig again.

Ugh i thought i was gonna make the top 100 after i was 9th saturday night .. now a low 472 score is not even good enough to be in it

Well if it comes down to top 100 unique accounts, then I'm still in with a chance, if its top 100 scores, then I'm goooorne.

If you don't end up with a top 100 place, this will be a travesty.

Although I didn't use all the advice in your guide, I did use some of your ideas, and increased my personal best from 457K to 469K (still not fast enough). Using Your advice AND getting lucky on that last box could probably produce a score of around 475K.

Here's hoping that you get lucky before the end of the day.

Unfortunately, I'm seriously tired after only 4 1/2 hours sleep last night and I need sleep for work tomorrow, my best time will stand, so it'll all cmoe down how Anet give the prizes. The annoying thing was versing Jedi K and knocking his ping, I could see that we were doing the same things, but because of his 0.3 second ping advantage, he was constantly putting time on me. Australia is a great place, but we don't have much chance in this game, which is why I don't play monk anymore as well :P

Oh well it was. My top score wound up around 465k. To many kd's combined with bad luck didnt help. And namkey you complain people with low pings. Well with my internet, college internet ftw, i almost have a ping constantly under 200. During the beetle races, I could maintain that average, but people with higher pings screwd me over. I could be clearly in the lead, and then someone would warp right behind me, with my ping still under 200.

Oh well it was fun. When i didnt go for score, I can beat 90% of the people in the arena. But after seeing the lowest score jump to over 470k, i gave up.

Oh yea ANet seriously needs to fix the top 100 so that it actually works right. Aka not having the same person on the board 10 times.

Winning is easy, but I can't imagine getting into the top 100. This morning I finally got my best score up to 456k. And that was with getting Echo+SRB quickly at my campsite, getting them again along the way, and having few kd's. So yeah, I'm giving up on my goal.

Kinda sucks that winning streaks mean nothing and it all comes down to luck. We might as well get lucky/unlucky points while we're at it.

That guide is awesome Namkey :P Managed to get a nice score of 476k with it

BTW, just a thought, but I've been wondering something. The high scores are the same throughout the whole world right? There aren't specific top 100's per server is there? Since I haven't seen any Chinese/Korean names on the list yet throughout this whole weekend, but I've seen plenty of Chinese/Koren named players.

I thought the event would be over by now. I just raced a few more laps, got up to 471,235 now. I guess even with the duplicates removed from the list that still won't be enough for top 100.

Event is over, top 100 get a Miniature Greased Lightning beetle. That includes the people that spike entered with the rest of their guild to get into the top 100...

Can anyone confirm if they gave rewards to the top 100 unique accounts? It seems the ingame top 100 wasn't updated to show unique players.

wahhhh its still the top 100 ENTRYS not the top 100 RACERS... by whatever stroke of luck or just by the fact that the list updates slow, my score went down about 20 positions from 86 to about 105-106. Man I raced for about 30 hours and 2 mins before I look my score is still there, then I cant get the prize.. Im dont think ive ever been so dissappointed in my life.

I can confirm that people with multiple top 100 scores got just one beetle. That indicates to me that people who just missed getting on the top 100 board did get a beetle for their efforts. I'm sure Anet planned for this; I wouldn't worry about anyone hogging beetles. Now I'm just crossing my fingers that namkey got his beetle (as he rightfully deserves to).

EDIT: Oh boy, I hope that's a misunderstanding on your part RogueNine. If you really did just miss being on the top 100 list, I would have thought you'd get a beetle. This is something we're going to need clarification on. I kept racing because statements from Gaile indicated that the top 100 racers would get the prize. I wouldn't be happy if my multiple scores on the board kept a bunch of people from getting a beetle.

I personally dont think the true top 100 got the mini-beetles, and i think they did a poor job at determining how to give mini beetles for prizes.

Nope, 36 hours of racing and I got nothing. Once everyone else figured out that best tactics, I just couldnt compete with my high ping

No its ok namkey. Probably 70% of the people on the list are from spike entering in ID. I knew there was some way they were getting those scores....

There's still hope namkey! Here's what someone posted in another thread:

I'd guess that as many as half of the top 100 scores are owned by the same account. If this report is true, there could be a significant number of extra beetles being awarded. We're going to have to wait and see what happens, but there's at least hope for those with scores just outside the top 100.

This sucks. If a person put in the hard work (36hrs, omg!!), scored the points AND shared his ideas, he bloody deserves it.
I raced no where to as much as some of you guys, the high ping made me too upset to continue.

I contacted GW support and the reply I got said only the top times are going to be rewarded, so im curious to see where gaile posted that the duplicates in top 100 are going to be removed?

You do not need to spike enter to get a top 100 time. You only need to spike enter for the team minigames like dodgeball and snowball arena to ensure you dont get bots/leeches/noobs on your team.

I would love it if dodgeball and snowball arenas weren't random.

What is spike entering?

Is it just resigning and entering over and over until they get the team they want?

Also just wondering something about the race.

You guys said that in order to make the top 100 you need to get the echo+SRB combo before :50.

Does that mean that you should camp on the very first box? Or is it better to camp on the water boxes?

To make the current high score table, you need echo sand SRB a lot under 50 seconds now. When the original post was made, the lowest end of the table was still in the 460K range. It is now well over 470K which is equal to almost ten seconds of time.

If you dont have them in the boxes in the water by around 43 seconds or so, you are relying on then getting another SRB on the way round.. or at least I would be. I think others are still a lot faster than me on the way round, so may be able to make the table without that third SRB.

BTW Spike entering is trying to synchronise a start with guildmates etc, so that you have a team that won't attack you. I have never done this and personally dont see the point of it. It might help you get to the boxes cleanly, but the chances of you getting that elusive SRB/Echo combination are still remote to say the least.

The way the times in this have improved is astonishing. The first high score I saw that made me go "Wow! I will never get anywhere near that" was 468K. My personal fastest score is now 476125, and I can do around 470K runs fairly regularly.

I still can't match the masters of this game and get 476K+ over and over again though!

I tried getting every box near my path and managed to get echo+SRB and only got 458k. I could've gotten a better score, but my ping keeps jumping up to 500-600 every 10-15 sec or so. =/

Thanks for the input, but that still doesn't answer my question of which boxes should be camped to get the chain.

Do you camp on the very first box on top of the hill or do you camp on the water box?

I've found that it's nearly impossible for me to even get to the water boxes a good deal before :50 unless I happen to get a SRB on that first hill box. I use the combination that namekey layed out in his map, and I usally have like 3-4 secs before the :50 mark.

This question also leads to another. Once you have the first combo, where should you camp to get the second/third combos?

I consistently take first place, but I have a really hard time of getting past the high 450k to low 460k scores.

If things go well for you, without being knocked down, you should get to the first water by the 43-44 second mark. If you have a good ping or have everything perfect, you can get there by 40 seconds. There you move between the boxes until you get the combo. Once you get that, if you can stay out of trouble at elastic corners or people distracting your skills at the wrong time, you can get to the end without anymore skills in about 1 minute 35 seconds.

I can't really add a lot more to it. Try not to get to close to the corners or you end up going backwards, try to watch how your RRPM reacts as you go round the track to learn the perfect timing, hope no one attacks you, hope you get the combo within 3 boxes, and unless you are super good and have a great connection, pick up another SRB or echo before the cross over section to help you keep the speed right up to the end.

I didn't play this much over the weekend, as ou may understand, I'm a little bit tired of it. Dragon Arena was fun though :P

So when you camp that first box do you immediately activate SRB or do you wait until later to do it?

I use echo then SRB as it is shown on the map, in the water. It helps you get out and through the slow part in teh cave.

I have a cuple of questions concerning Top 100 award giving..
Is this top 100 daily, monthly or quaterly?
When/how will top 100 recive prize? Also is there a way of knowing if you are in the top100 after the event is over(you no longer have acces to racing outpost)?

Bad thread res. Should have just asked in Q&A.

The top 100 Racers, probably quarterly, will win a Greased Lightning Minipet only during the Canthan New Year. Whether it's quarterly or monthly or whatever is unclear, because ANet has never had an RBR even less than three months before the days of the Canthan New Year. Sufficient time is made after the end of the event for people to claim their prize. If they don't claim it, later weekends will give them the chance to get it.

Please, no more discussion on RBR right now. This thread risks getting locked if we start talking about it out of season.
