I finally got my dark skinned Ele to get Vabbian. Its been something I've been dreading and delaying, but finally done!

dark skinned eles look gorgeous in pretty much all the ele armors, its why i remade my original ele much darker. (she was the palest one). i saw your ele on obs mode last night and went oooh pretty. im tempted to remake my ele even darker. but ...effort.

My tan skined ele named Genoken Elemental in Kurzick 1.5 top and boots Luxon 15k gloves and legs. Dyed silver tho it tends to look white in the sunlight..contrast well with her tan skin tone

Hey Dina, welcome to vainpot's corner.  Beautiful ele, and that's one of the nicest dye combos I've seen on Elite Sunspear, really rich colour.

I usually deny having more than 1 pve character because only my monk has had any real time spent on it. I do however have an ele, and I just got this awesome (req 9 energy storage) inscribable weapon.

Indeed! I opted for one shade lighter than I would normally have on my 14 month old ele, but mostly because her face didn't really suit the very dark Tyrian tones, she's still looked a lot darker than the huge amount of ghostly looking eles I've come across so much up till Nightfall's release. Here's a couple I haven't posted before...

I find it odd how the majority of people don't make only light skinned ele's but every class i see are lightskined. Sure, i have some lightskinned characters myself. (One actually)
Example: Why can't people make dark skinned Paragon's? I have a dark skinned (african paragon) I'm not black... Is it that people are racist in a way? Or other reasons? I don't get it though...

I don't get it though... well my elly is really pale but she my first character and i had no idea what i was thinking i hate the way she looks now and never play her but cant delete her cause she was my first and my necros pale because i dont like dark necros.. i prefer tanned chars like most of my chars not too dark but not light

Another thing to consider is that the characters with the "ghostly" skin colors are probably aiming to make acharacter or a character whose skin literally radiates light, implying they are supernatural - think stereotypical elves, fairies, angels, gods and goddesses in american, european, and asian cultures). That said for hypotheses on the large amount of characters without dark skin colors, I love all the dark skinned characters I've seen, and I think it looks especially good with so many dye and hair combos I want to post my ele in here but I'm afraid I'll start seeing clones of me

hm, racist? I doubt.....but trying to take good screenies of dark skin is just difficult......I have included a pic of my 4 eles.....the one on the far left is my first character (and yeah I have skin that light in RL).....but that doesnt explain the other 3 darker skinned ones.....(my hopes or dreams maybe?)
when I make a character I try to match up the face/skin type/hair color so that its a good combo, in prophecys there just werent many good combos for darker skined eles (though my hubby made one, so I just proved myself wrong)...and no negrod (I cant spell today) options at all-----that didnt come until factions really, and yes I have made a few dark dark skinned beauties as well. (now if someone is to blame I would say that you should point fingers more at the dev team with the very limited options that they have offered us---I have included 3 female ele creations screens as well, one from each chapter to show the limited options on the skin tones. Prophecy doesnt really have anything better than a good tan, while factions has one --almost and nightfall 0).

I think people choose an avatar for a variety of reasons, and there's bound to be a fair proportion that will choose skin colour based on their own ethnicity. Good point about the "ghostly" , I hadn't really considered that, I tend to forget that GW is at heart a semi-fantasy world. All that WTS WTB in the chat tends to throw you out of the moment. coseyfiep's right too. The Tyrian option is pretty limited, and I found that a couple of the (very attractive) faces just didn't look good with tanned or dark skin. Which left Saraphim with her somewhat Barbie-fied face. But I'm too fond of her to change anything about her now, even if we did get an NPC Stylist... [edit] Actually looking at those screenies, Prophecies has plenty of choice, but (IMO) the faces just don't work as well as the Factions or NF eles. Plus Nightfall faces have much more detail in the lip textures, and better tonal values on the bodies. I won't re-roll !! No sireeee.

My friend's ele is named Fina Aquilae. Basically, it's [Internet Handle] [Constellation]. More specifically, it's a constellation that contains a solar system that is used in the Descent series of video games. I decided to copy that naming scheme. For myself, Serpentis fit my fancy for many reasons. It was used in the Descent series and then later on as a major point of interest in the Freespace games. Also, from the Star Control (Best game ever) series, Serpentis is the home of the Yehat, and I'm pretty unstoppable with a Yehat Terminator. So, basically, I named this beautiful ele Spazzer because I wanted to bandwagon on someone else's awesome name.

Everyone one of my NF chars (4 of them; ranger, ele, paragon, dervish) are dark skinned. I just wish I'd made my ranger one shade darker (putting her at the darkest shade). I'd planned on making a female dervish that was as dark as I could get, but ended up with a male one.
My second char, a Tyrian monk, is also dark skinned. I remember when the NF preview weekend came around, and people complained about the lack of lighter skinned options. I did a lot of eye rolling. In fact, all of that is why I specifically make all my chars from NF darker skinned because it make more sense to me. To be fair, though, NF is the first game were a lot of the faces fit in darker tones really really well across a lot of professions. To stay somewhat on topic still, here's a picture of my hubby's ele Jules:  The only complaint hubby had was that he couldn't get hair of Koss proportions.

Always glad to see a debate about character skin tone going so well, in Riverside it would have turned into a flame fest for sure. But in anycase this is screenshot expo, not riverside.

 On the beach, north of Beetletun, about to be mobbed by level 11 skale. Armed with her latest effects; a bargain of a sword and a shield-scroll and sporting a completely redesigned skillbar, which I'm really enjoying playing. It's still earth/sword, but both are much more powerful now thanks to some tweaking and an insignia swap. Only 2 days until she turns 2 years old, too! As for the dark/light skin debate, I think the Elonian Elementalist armor sets were made with dark skin in mind whereas sets like the kurzick/ancient combo, (it's now a set because I say so ) are usually the ones that make fair and pale skinned eles look best*. On top of that, most all the elonian faces are designed with dark skin in mind and look much nicer with it. Case in point being the lips on a lot of the female faces - they look positively creepy on fair skin, but gorgeous with dark skin. I have one medium skinned ele myself. She doesn't get played at all, (none outside my top 4 or 5 see any playtime these days, and even then, Rena gets 90% of it,) but I don't regret making her. I also have my dark skinned male paragon, who doesn't get played either, but only because I cant stand running about in a kilt all the time... (And I'm too obsessed with title hunting/leeching/grinding at the moment to play anyone other than Rena...) *I'm hugely biased about this, but you knew that anyway, right?

to also contribute to this skin-color discussion: I'm a central european girl, blond and light-skinnend, and ALL my characters are 'black'. why? because I think that makes them much more interesting... we always like what we can't have >.<

I've never really combined my two 15k Ele sets, so I decided to play around today and found a combo that I really like!
Madman100 Yes, I'm a sword ele. No, I'm not using a conjure build. It has a sundering mod. Yes I'm an E/W. No, I don't die a lot. Yes, that is a combo between collector's and elementalist basic armour. I think it looks cool (especially since it's one of the few ele armours with trousers, I don't want her to look like she'll take it all off for a few gold). Yes, I'm using that old over-used hairstyle, but only because it's one out of 2 in prophecies that look decent, and the swirly buns are too dainty for a warrior.

and the racing stripes down the side are better than buns....hm....must agree that the choices were pretty slim for eles in prophecies.
and yes I too have an e/w working her way out of pre. She likes her hair out of her face so I picked another less used hair (and the pretty hairnet isnt too bad)

I made a new ele, but used the same name as one of my old eles. So far, he's at grand court in nightfall, nowhere in tyria, and at vizunah square in factions. Once I got to kodash, I decided I had to have the vabbian armor and now I'm pretty much broke.

Very colour coordinated and your ele is really lovely! I got new Ancient armour for my ele, but she didn't suit the top. Trying out this combo for now, may change the colour later but kind of hard to match shades sometimes
