By the way, whether or not the punishment is too harsh, you still should know better than to do something stupid in front of someone who can actually punish you for it. Maybe for your next act you could rub a steak on your privates and then go parading in front of a half starved pitbull and then go crying about it.

Yeah yeah, I knew it would happen sooner or later. You've never seen me bash Gaile. You've never seen a "few posts" (in my opinion, 3 or more) in which I've even mentioned Gaile (not including this post of course), i don't think. What you saw however, was me show no sympathy for Gaile's loss of her hat during last week's event, due to her not paying attention to drops and inventory space.

I did not bash her, though it seems she and a few others took it that way. As a matter of fact, if anyone could claim to have been bashed it would've been the people I accused of "brown nosing", which they were. I only said that people were treating her a lot differently than they treated others here when things go bad for them in game and they come here to post about it. The evidence of that is in this thread itself. Just look at all the negative comments like "idiots" etc., being tossed out. The thing about her thread was that there was so much smooching going on, when I commented on it, it "seemed" like a bash, when it really wasn't, and some people realized that.

So to clarify, no, I have no personal vendetta against Gaile. No, I do not resent all the attention Gaile get's when she come to the outposts in game (though I found the whole spectacle of her 'celebrity' amusing enough to comment on it). No, I don't have anything against Anet. For all it's faults, I love Guild Wars and am heading into my oldest character's second birthday in a few months.

See? It's called an analogy. Like I said before, sure I could have used a different one, but I didn't think it would be taken as something to be threatened with a ban. Also, I never complained about it, read the post again. I said I had an attitude of "whatever" and left.it.alone. It happened a while ago, and I only brought it up as an example to support my opinion on why I thought Gaile had a hand in deciding who got banned.

There's nothing about this that has anything to do with abuse of power. It's against the ToS, against common decency and just plain immature.

Guild Wars is pretty forgiving of idiots because of the lack of moderation, but that doesn't mean that you have carte blanche to be one, and it certainly doesn't make it unfair or abuse of power when you *do* get banned for it.

There's nothing wrong with 3 days. If you play religiously, 1 day is trivial, but 3 days is something you don't forget, and that's the point of a temporary ban in the first place.

My guess is that they looked in their logs and banned everyone who said it, regardless of how much. You didn't do it to make her smile and laugh, you did it either in a gang mentality with no thought as to what you were doing or were seeking to irritate. When you seek to irritate someone you can usually succeed, in this case you irritated someone who has enough authority to do something back.

You are not the first, nor will you be the last, that learns the hard way that those in charge of a computer system can do whatever they want and making them angry isn't a good strategy.

Perhaps you do not technically "complain" about it, but your posts in this thread about it show you are harboring sour grapes about it and refusing to accept responsiblity for it - as if you did nothing wrong when clearly the thing you described yourself saying was very wrong.

There are lots of obscene facts of life, but that does not mean by virtue of them being facts of life it is right or "okay" to go around publicizing them. Especially when it involves a really vulgar analogy like the one at hand.

I see your points here, and maybe "bashing" was not the correct word. I would never "Brown Nose" Gaile or Anet, they have MANY mistakes and issues that need to be worked out, however I have my own to worry about. I have noticed several scornful remarks from people towards Anet, people are very harsh on anet. I saw people bashing (for lack of a better word ) anet because they screwed up some things on the latest PvP primer, if you ask me that is pretty harsh.

However you do seem to post as though you take no responsibility for comments you make, and that they are completely justifiable.

Reason the OP got banned is because Gaile simple doesn't like Spam or anything in all CAPS, she says this just about every visit. So if the OP spammed do you like pie in all caps or just spammed it then she would get pissed and therefore ban you.

So just grow up and act mature around the people that control your account.

my thoughts on this is that Gaile being the PR person for GW and Anet should be building good relationships between Anet and its customers and not creating problems, ie banning ppl just because they like to spam. Banning is a very serious thing and ppl take it very seriously. If she were to give warnings this wouldn't be much of an issue.

i think Gaile shouldn't be holding the banning stick as evident by her lack of patience and overreacting nature. I would suggest whenever she feels the need to ban ppl that she check with her bosses before waving her banning stick around.

I can tell u that those ppl who spammed meant no harm. It is a spur of the moment thing and when u see everybody joking around and spamming, honestly, i would get in the fun as well. They shouldn't be banned for having fun even though it is wrong. A warning is sufficient but not a ban.

Why would you need a warning to not spam? We all know we shouldnt spam yet people still do it. If you don't want to be treated like a child and get banned for spamming then stop acting like one. And do you honestly think a warning does any good? Idiots will just ignore the warning and still continue acting like idiots. But with a ban they'll finally get the message....at least for a short while.

And yes, Gaile has warned people plenty of times to not spam. If they're stupid enough to ignore it and get banned, I say good riddance.

He shouldn't have got banned. Even though he was spamming, nearly everyone has spammed, if they want to buy a weapon, sell something, form a PUG. If you deny spamming at least once in GW, well, stoo treating this community as so naive and stupid. Gaile acted out of annoyance, and anger, and that is never good when one hokds a position of power. If she had said why they were getting banned, why 'Gaile likes pie' annoies her so much, and they still did it, well maybe they should get a warning. Just because something annoies someone, that is not grounds for any punitive action. And after all:

I think the pie thing is hilarious, but the ban is fair, considering she comes to town to give information and answer questions and the spam is distracting.

The teat comment, although an appropriate and accurate image of the players when she enters the district, comes down to the fact that you're basically comparing Gaile to a big mommy pig. That just screams danger to me.

admittedly he did something wrong. but a 3 day ban just for messaging? that hardly seems like a fair punishment. and if it is, then half the people playing should be banned.
