ugh that looks so bad.... I really hope that isn't a playable race. I hope we can kill Asura, his friends and family, over and over in GW2...something that stupid looking shouldn't be alive.

I´ve done some modeling myself for some games and the future now is detail and more detail for facial expression and movement so we can expect a radical change in characters bone structure for sure.

C´mon this creature is not so bad we are just tired of playing as humans for too long, at least i am. GW needs some fresh air and races are a must for playability, durability, etc.

Imho minipets just need to be more active i guess, like for example why not making them pick up our loot from the ground? if you don´t want it to pick the loot then on the menu just an icon could toggle that. And what about if minipets could use one monster skill? that would be cool, each pet would have a skill to use in combat to aid its master and allies.

I bet that if this Asura pet had some abilities all ppl would say WTB Asura pet 100k 50 ectos

I really hope you've never heard of Adolf Hitler.

Concerning the minipet..if people like it they can get it, if people don't like it then why have a response like this..I mean it doesn't affect you in any way.

I personally don't really like how it looks, so I won't get it, simply as that.

Many of you say you dislike the Asura race and that is wouldn't fit in with GW.
Well I found this drawing on a Thai site on Asura armor, really hope Anet draws inspiration from this.

That drawing is so far off-topic I can't even express how OT it is...

So some guy in Thailand draws his interpretation of a legendary Hindu creature, and this is relevant to GW how?

I like him. He's got personality.

Also, he's about ten thousand times more original than an Elfy McPrancySparkle.

that is beyond ugly. things like that shouldnt exist. shows how much research anet does into stuff they create. if they did any research they would have found out most hate it. does make you wonder what else they are not researching.

Personally I do not care what is added or removed from the game. I am here for the fun, challenge and to hang out with my guildmates and friends. Far too many people have to nit-pick everything Anet does. These gamers have their own ideas of what Guild Wars should be instead of letting Anet make their game what Anet wants it to be. Anet does a great job listening to the public and the things that they have added and are planning on adding to the game shows that. Far too many gamers are getting emotional over things that they believe they should have total control of. Anet, never mind these nay-sayers. Just keep up the great work and do what you want to do. And btw I am getting the little ugly thing just because I can.

I'm still undecided on this littl' guy. I saw him in-game last night, and I must say he doesn't look as cartoonish or gimicky in-game as I had feared he would. And his growly face rocks! While he still looks a little out of place to me, he is growing on me.

Griefers would do well to remember we have no idea how the asurans (sp?) will fit into GW -- neither in terms of playability and friendly vs enemy, nor their surrounding environment/"homeland". Perhaps they look out of place because they are -- being nocturnal/underground creatures as has been suggested. I'm certain ANet is gauging the community response and would take that into consideration in future decisions concerning these strange looking little fella's.

Most? Most of the whole 5.24 people who've posted in this thread? Yeah, that makes up most of the GW population.

107 people have posted so far. And there is that other thread when it was announced which had hundreds of posts too. It is clear to see in both that the majority do not like it. Its not like only a certain type of gamer goes to GWG. There are newbs, noobs, long time players, pveers, pvpers etc all on here. I am sure the in-game response will be similar to here. Why, do you think the majority of in-game players would like it?

Out of the 107 posts here: -

% not relevant = 41%

% disliking it = 36%

% liking it = 23%

Hmm looks like the majority hate it. I truely doubt that the in-game thoughts on it would change so much as give the majority of the opinion held by those liking it.

Now what is worrying is Anet are using this mini pet in a magiazine to obviously give Guild Wars advertisement. Real nice using something which the majority hate as a marketing took. Would be like showing off warriors in a magazine which have wooden bucklers, short swords and 1.5k male knights armour. At least use something which is appealing to the majority to show off guild wars. I think more pcg mags would have been sold if there was a huge liking of it. I mean look at how many people liked the ghostly hero mini pet. Something like that would lead to a hell of alot more sales than the asura one.

As a bday mini pet it would have been fine. But the fact that it is put in an international magazine which could attract new players to guild wars I do not think is fine. Now for example, a much more visually attractive mini pet would have been used e.g. ghostly hero then that would have been great. Sure it would boost pcg sales but there was the potential for them to be boosted further with a nicer looking mini pet.

For the record, the original reactions to the Asura were HIGHLY colored by the stupid rumor that it would be a playable race.

I have no doubt that if it would've simply been introduced as yet another monster that we were going to beat up on, made into a minipet, instead of a possible look into the future of your PUG companions, it would be much more popular.

Really, that Inquirer article shafted the little guy big-time.

right... 38 persons hates it. So much for majority.

There was a time where people were whining about 6vs6 hoh, and some smartasses like you went saying that the majority hated it based on the number of whiners that posted in the thread.

There was afterwards a poll, to vote for 6vs6 or 8vs8. Do you remember the results ?

Fact is, most people that likes it just don't go around posting how cute it is, only whiners post.

The voice of dissent is almost always louder than any other. That's no proof that the actual majority of GW players don't like it. Just because the majority of people who have posted here do not like it does not mean anything.

When they allowed minipets in town, they had sounds. The majority that posted complained, a few didn't care and a small handful liked it. Until they took the sounds away, then the majority complained, a few didn't care and a few liked it.

Wrong. There are too many optimists on these forums (believe me, I know). If there's something that the majority of these forums actually agrees is bad, then it's quite significant and noteworthy.

And your example is wrong. The first part is correct, the second part isn't. AFAIK, it's the inverse: The small few complained, a few didn't care, and the majority liked it.

You hate everything, so that should be taken with a grain of salt.

And, as I said, the majority. I was not incorrect in what I stated. Even if just "a small few" complained, the ones that did, at the time, were the majority. We're talking about majority of who was complaining, not the actual number.

Either way, neither of them are proper examples of "the majority do or do not like" something, because the sample numbers are far, far too small. That's the point.

You're kidding right? The community on these boards (and most others) are the whiniest bunch of complainers who most of the time have nothing but negative comments on most subjects. But I guess that's how forums are.

Just look at this thread for instance. A few dozen kids flying by just to post their "witty" insult. We get it already, you dont like it.

How sad... finally they start putting real work into facial expressions, and the first thing it's applied to doesn't appear to belong in the game. I hope they put as much detail into its death sequence. Brains spilling from a crushed skull, gaping chests wounds, that sort of thing.

I strongly advise you don't check out the official World of Warcraft forums; I can't find one positive thing said on them. But atleast they don't keep resorting to ad hominem...

More on-topic, I guess I would be less annoyed if the Asura turned out to be an enemy. But that's unlikely, since the Inquirer article has been proven not to be completely false.
