I started one near release, died repeatedly so I didn't play him much (damn those Afflicted and their explosions!). Then I looked over the skills and made a viable PvE build.
Right now, he's in Vabbi with decked out armor. He still hasn't beaten Factions, and only three missions in Prophecies. He's probably my second favorite character, but I don't play my alts very much.
A question to those who bought Factions at its release

| Anyways, my Ritualist was played more often than my Necromancer...until the great Ritual Lord/Spirit nerfs. Even with the recent super-buffs, they aren't that great... |
As for my Assassin she has Canthan 15k (+15 armor when attacking) armor carries Mallyx zeal daggers and has all Assassin skills and elites from Factions and Nightfall released. She has beat all 3 chapters and is my second favorite PvE character.
Assassins have earned their place by now I think. HERO monks help a lot where an assassin in concerned.
BTW My Assassin always uses the HERO Zenmai in her PvE team build and Zenmai has earned her Primeval HERO armor.
made an assassin first day I got factions (about week after release) rushed her through the game and got my first 15k armor..then never played her and eventually deleted her for a pvp slot >< then about..24 days ago I decided I wanted another assassin so I made one got her ancients, 15k luxon and already beat all 3 campaigns :P she's now my favorite char

I've created my assassin two months after factions release.
The first days/weeks were really difficult, because I had a hard time to get used to the assassin "type of gameplay" (I was dying a lot when I finished the tutorial island). But I eventually understood how to play with her ^^
I finished factions with her, got all of the assassin elite skills, then I came to tyria and finished prophecies...and then nightfall came out, and she was my first character who finished nightfall (I played with her first because I wanted the vabbian armor^^), and I managed to get all the assassin elite skills too.
Now I'm mainly playing AB with her, and I have lots of fun...and I love her armor

Not sure why you make it seem like they have been progressivly making the Assassin worse. They've been buffing the hell out of it compared to when it was first shown in the beta weekend. Most people, including myself, were using R/A due to the higher armor and better energy managment with expertise. When Assassins first started, they only had 60 armor! Luckily they were changed by release. And with the more adjustments made, if you are dying in PvE, start using Flashing Blades, another skill they buffed. 75% to block while attacking. Try that against Shiro, XD. I really like Assassins, they are becoming better and better in PvE, and even more deadly in PvP.

My sin is well-known. He's also the only PvE character who is set up for PvP, but I don't update him anymore(no cash). He's a protector of tyria. I use a PvP sin for builds now, as it is really easy and I have a surplus of character slots. I don't PvE anymore, so I guess I don't use him anymore.
