A question to those who bought Factions at its release
Caleb Kane
My sin has full Vabbian armor and lots of golds and greens. I gvg with him daily. Mr Prince Charming OWNZ
Effendi Westland
Created in the first weeks after release just to reserve the name. Was more interested in getting my other classes through the game and decided that ritualist would be the first to go through. That ritualist is now a mule and has been for quite some time.
My assassin is going strong though ^^
Finished factions and nightfall and took a short break at THK in prophecies. Love the class concept, why try and shutdown something when u can zone in, kill and zone out. Even more playable now with better henchy/hero ai, but if played well in a human team you'll still hardly need to devote lots of your skillbar to survival. Just don't try to tank -ever- in such a setup

I got my sin his nice shiny daggers, his collection is near complete now, 2 sets of armor for different functions deadly arts gloves switched up and mainly pvp-able. Just gotta cap Shadow Prison... HoTO/FS/TS is getting boring. There is nothing wrong with the assasin just the learning curve of factions in general. Infact I think the assasin is probably the best new profession from the Non-Core group of classes. Quite unique and his secondary provides other professions as well. It is just I wish that Anet would look at the other 90% of the assasin skills and modify them to be.. worthy. The only reason you see masses of BoA is because everything else sucks.
headcarb
made a 2nd one thx to BoA
Kimaru
Was my first char from factions and made it one day before the official release, did bought pre-order so a 1 day headplay. I've completed factions with it, though i still have to do the kurzich area. Did a lot AB with her
Yichi
my assassin is sitting in full vabian at my login screen with the rest of my characters....
mqstout
Never made one. And regretting I made a PvE paragon.
HzzB
All my 10 characters including Sin and Rt already have finished Nightfall and Factions. Now capturing missed elite skills around the world.
Selket
Win halls every night with it.
Matsumi
finished NF with mine, then started doing other things now that all my characters are done with it. It was really fun, even the realm of torment seemed pretty easy playing an assassin, compared to my other characters. Dervish probably came in second for being able to breeze through nightfall. Deleted my pve ritualist though, and gave all the weapons and offhands to some random player just starting one.
lennymon
brought to level 20 and within a few days turned her into a mule. been a mule ever since... not one single elite capped (ranger has em all anyways). Completely different from the rit: made about a month after factions release and play more and more all the time, finished all 3 chapters.
Lady Ana Stacia
Mine has gone thru factions and nightfall both and is now starting on conquering Tyria
floppinghog
My assassin is pretty pimped out, best/near perfect mod daggers of all kinds, rare skins, req 8 most, and has beaten factions. Hes still sitting at Gate of Pain though atm.
Hes already visited most of Tyria as well (hello Charr, hello Ascalon!), and holds a part-time job of shadow running people to sanctum cay mission from lions once inwhile... usually for just tips (i love running for fun, its just damn fast and relaxing for some reason).
Hes like a shadow from the past now, I mean he was first character I did factions with, I did both Luxon and Kurzick sides with him, and uncovered every outpost in Cantha. Once you do that though, its hard to do the same with any other characters in Cantha - very tedious..
I love my assassin, Oni Zzep

My sin is in full vabbian (only reason I made it LOL) and finished NF and Factions, and now I farm glad points with it. (YAY BOA)
BladeDVD
I started with Factions and my sin was my first character.
Unfortunately, I didn't care for "running away" from the fight so I was one of those typically terrible assassins who died all the time. Mostly played with my wife and my brother in law, so at least I wasn't messing up the game for too many other people. lol
After about 2 months though they told me to try a different class out because I wasn't really pulling my weight. Necro's been my main character since and I really enjoy it, but I still plan to come back to the sin someday and get him through all 3 campaigns. He made it as far as Defenders of the Forest, so not too much more to finish Factions. Should be fun now that I understand the importance of the getting in and out abilities of the assassin. Well, that and we learned how to play a lot better. lol
Currently I use him for insignia storage and have him parked in Urgoz to ferry if we ever go back again.

Finished Factions and Nightfall, currently at Dragons Lair.
Gordon Ecker
My Assassin's in Kamadan, and will probably stay there until my Warrior finishes Nightfall. As for my Ritualist, she was my second non-Elonian character to finish Nightfall.
Zehnchu
First one I made I was stuck at Unwaking waters, deleted him
Then made a second one later on after I bought another slot, got to RoT second to last missions and then deleted him too, never made one since.

Originally I didn't care much for them though, I mainly made her because I wanted one of every character class, but after I really started playing on her, and got the survivor title with her, I really liked her, I found out that if you use skills effectively they are very fun to play and don't die all the time like the typical stereotype.
She isn't my least played character, but she isn't the most played either. I mainly play her when I am in the mood to play a sin.

Made my 'Sin during the preview weekend. She found it difficult getting through Factions with a gazillion other 'Sins, so she headed for Tyria. She stopped in at the Guild Hall after getting PoT, and has decided to stay there. She makes a lovely mule
Sol Deathgard
About a month before NF came out I walked away from GW, I just came back about a month ago. Before I left my sin was only being used in AB after I had beaten Factions with him and was my extra storage. Now that I have NF, he's probably my 4th or 5th used char next to my War, Derv, & Paragon, and maybe monk.

I'm running an assassin through the game now, though only as my 4th-5th character. Mostly doing it to get elites and to power up Zenmai. I also like their skills for secondary professions on my other toons.

I started my Assassin as a sin/ranger (for the pet at first) in the first week that factions came out. I found the body blocking of the pet to be a pain in the rear, so i switched from daggers to bow fairly early. Critical Barrage was pretty much the easiest way to move the character through all of the campaigns. Moved through Cantha until I got to the mainland, set sail for Tryia right away. Ran myself backwards to Ascalon and completed Prophecies with little difficulty. Returned to Cantha and rediscovered how difficult it was for an assassin to get into a group. Clawed my way through Cantha and after completing Elona with my primary char (a necro), soon followed behind with my Sin.
While moving through Elona, the sin was receiving some buffs, so i went back to daggers occassionally, but bow still seems to work best in most situations. I'm no mathmatician, but i'm no slouch with numbers either. As I see it, even when you factor in double strikes, daggers still yield the lowest damage per second of all physical weapons (swords/axes/hammers/scythes/bows/spears were the weapons i compared).
Only beef so far... the odds of scoring a critical hit on high-end mobs is low to nil, so many of the Sin skills are highly constrained if not rendered completely useless. Lvl 20 me vs Lvl 24-28 bad guy (non boss) means crit hit is pretty darn rare. Sort of puts a damper on most of the end game.
Regardless, my sin is still in the top 4 of my frequently played chars (I have a slot for each profession).

Over the months, the assassin has gone through quite a lot of punishment (people don't know how to play them, etc) so I just wanted to know where your assassin (that you made 1-3 weeks of Factions release) is today. I still have mine, but I barely play him. When I had a lot of play time in the summer, I would go AB-ing with him, but now play time is scarce so I don't even touch him. So...where's your assassin? |

My sin is living the comfortable life in Vabbi armor after just completing Nightfall a few days ago. Sure he was my 6th character through Nightfall, but that's cause I hadn't played him in a while and loss the art of playing a sin. Only campaign he hasn't done is Prophecies. He was a mule for a while, but so was my ritualist (now my paragon is a mule cause he's my least favorite profession). Now he's alive and back again. Currently working on my new ranger at the moment, but replaying my sin after a long break was a lot of fun and has me addicted to him as my favorite melee profession, and one of my favorite professions period.
I found Nightfall a lot more forgiving to sins than Factions was. As someone said, sins are very hard in Factions with all the exploding afflicted. And it seems anyone bringing sins to the other campaigns knows what they're doing, so there aren't a lot of poorly played sins in Nightfall, or so I've experienced. My ranger is in Factions and I'm being reminded why people didn't want to group with sins for a long time :/

My Assassin has completed Cantha and Nightfall.
Has 15K Kurzick armor and done a lot of quests.
Don't use her in PvE anymore. Only PvP/AB.
The game has become flooded with noob-PvP assassins that all play the well-known "steel blades" build. I think that's a pity for the real assassins.

Got owned by all the afflicted at Vizunah Quarter, ported to Tyria and is currently a mule
blood4blood
My assassin got deleted @ level 10 or 12 or so, and I never made another one.
EternalTempest
She's been storing all the monster drop items while she taking a break from beating shirow.
Zedd Kun
I made a sin 2 months ago or so, reached to lvl 10, bored as hell. So I started up a monk, easier to get a group, and more fun to play.
BliZZarD
I completed Factions with mine and then used as a mule since one week ago that I bought another space and decided to do Chapter 3 with her too just for the treasures ^^.
HTW
Mines always seems to amaze me, one my most used characters and always fun to play with, used him when facs came out and havent stopped using him, just getting to bone palace for that awsome ancient armor.

BeatWolf
Never got more than lvl 2 with an assasin in PVE they are crap (imo) in PVE id rather have a dervish/warrior for melee over an assasin in my PUG any day. Assasins only good for Random/Team Arenas and HA as it seems today. I hate the way they move around its really cheesy, they dont look cool they look like 12 year old ninja wannabes
BeatWolf
Sry double post. Laggy site as usual.
Series
Mine is deleted and remade as a PvP only character so that I no longer have to spend gold on him or beat campaigns as him to reach some elite skills.
