This weekend ist mostly a weekend for solofarmers. Even my guild visited those areas again for farming shards. Got ~30 of them and sold them to the merchant, can't complain on those. But the other loot? Utter crap. Opened several chests and all items were gold, but without max mods and utter crap. Got some golden and purple drops also, four shadow blades that all sold directly to the merchant. Only drops I remember that was ok was a req13 15^50 chaos axe...uh...and maybe that one vial of white dye that sold for 4p.

Cleared FoW with guild and the spread was as follows

The 5 chests contained mostly golds for the guild, I would say just a few purples.

So, as a whole of the weekend to me, it's been a good time. Probably clear UW tomorrow, and I'll update.

Went down to underworld. Interesting looking, didn't make much sense. I was too tired to look in the wiki. lol All junk. Never found a chest. I heard the best advice in game tonight.

I'm a loot baby, I admit it, Iwant my damn prize I bought the cracker jacks..
Oh well I did get POE tonight, now all I need is one more for factions (mission bonus) and I will have POT, POC, POE. and I'm almost done with cartographer for all 3.

Because I've been at work most of the event, getting 1 shard and 2500 in gold for 1 hour isn't too bad. Too bad my two chests were purples.

Regarding UW/FoW, I think Anet need to do at least one of two things, if ever they want to make a big deal out of these areas again. Either give them drops in line with NF (inscribable and a better chance of gold) and/or permanently remove the fee. As it stands the fee is nothing to experienced farmers (from what I gather), but very off putting to casual players like myself. One weekend just isn't enough to learn a system (unless you play for the whole weekend, but many of us have other things to do).

I didn't farm much, I get bored of it quickly, but still did a few solo runs in UW and FoW. Got some shards and ecto, plus my first sapphire drop in FoW since I've been playing. Decided to celebrate by getting my monk Razah. One thing I did get a lot of was rares. A greater drop rate than normal. Pure coincidence probably, but welcome all the same.
The free entry was nice for trying out some unusual builds as well, builds I wouldn't usually have tried because of the uncertainty of success. I'm not so wealthy to continuously splurge a 1K cost over and over to test builds.
It's a good weekend idea. Kudos to Anet.

Ok just a small observation. Basic economics says that prices flucuate with supply and demand right? Supply is high, price should be low. Supply is low, price is high. Ok well to makes things simple if thats all that the Rare Materials Trader goes buy, why have ecto prices increased? Since UW is open to everyone that means there are more ectos in circulation. But if even a portion of those ectos go to the trader that means that the price of ectos should go down. No?
If you look through the districts, everyone under the sun is trying to sell off their ectos for anywhere from 9k to 11k. (Trader is currently at 12k) And from the looks of it, it seems not many are having luck selling. As well, I've been curious about Anet's Marketwatch. I've seen a few things here and there but nothing other than it tracks the in-game prices and supply (I believe). Could the price increase be because the supply of ectos is increasing, but none of those are being sent back to the trader?
Granted I know this isn't an economical dicussion nor do i have any sigificant economics knowledges, however i am still curious as to why ecto prices have increased for the weekend.

well you could aslo think that alot of people are tryng to get their armors, and others are direct selling instead of going to a trader since you make more money that way.

i don't notice any difference and I do fow and uw on a regualr basis.
Only thing I hate about weekends like this is people who complain about things they just don't understand.
Want to really complain, then say you do uw and fow dailey. Not even 5 runs in a row is enough to compare the drops.

did like 30 runs, I got 26 ectoes and 10+ gold with some 15%^50 stormbows and FDS. Drops are staying at around 1ecto/run for me. pretty good I think. lucky weekend for me

I'm happy to say I finally could do Fow with the rest of my guild (thanks to favor in international dist) Made like 1 shard per run and I'm happy.

Finally got to trying out the Terra Tank UW smite farming build.
Did 5 runs and only got 3 ectos, a crappy gold stormbow and absolutely no chests
O well, at least a run doesn't take that long.

Well I pretty much hate you all, 5 hours of farming Friday netted me 2 ectos and 20k in cash. I didn't even go back Saturday because I was so pissed.

I had a period a few months ago where I went 17 UW runs in a row(over a span of a few weeks) without a single ecto or gold weapon, even though I had been taking the normal anti-farm countermeasures. I chalked it up to bad luck, not ZOMG NERF. It sorted itself out over time and now I'm not having any problems.
The thousands upon thousands of threads like this one have come before never have any effect beyond pointless bickering, so I don't see the point in them. Trust me, I'm usually one of the first to bite ANet's head off when I think they've done something wrong, but in this case, they haven't done anything, which is a GOOD thing. Sorry if this sounded like flames. I tried to keep it as civil as possible, but I really get pissed when threads like this pop up that keep trying to blame bad luck on undocumented game changes.(I don't even know how much the OP was whining, its the QQ'ers who hijacked the thread after that who really irk me).
BTW, all you people who say UW isn't worth it, please keep that mindset. It helps keep ecto prices high. More money for us farmers.

Personally I don't care much for farming so I'm having the same issue I’ve had for 2 years there. I still can't find a party to clear UW. Also too many noob whammo's down there who must aggro everything in sight it seems.

Went on an UW trip with guildies last night and had a blast. Completed the Restore the Monuments quest and had a great deal of fun with people on both American and European server. Some had never been here before too. We didn't go for drops though, we went to quest and have fun.

Been playing GW since Prophecies pre-release. Went on maybe my 3rd and 4th FoW run EVER this weekend. Got 3 shards, 4 gold items, 2 purples and about 4k in gold.

I don't farm that much but I like to have nice stuff so lately I've been doing a couple quick solo smite runs in a day to get 2 ecto. Usually it takes 2 or 3 runs, sometimes 1 or 4. The most I have ever gotten is three in one run and the worst I'd ever done was 2 runs without an ecto.
This weekend I went on a run on Friday shortly after the event started and got aforementioned 3-ecto run. Tonight I did 4 complete runs and got zero ecto, which is by far the longest drought I've ever seen. Maybe the rate was nerfed a bit for the even, maybe amount of people going in there has something to do with reduced drop rate, and maybe it's coincidence.
This is purely scientific with no point - I'm not complaining or anything. People were asking about drop rates is all.

Well just did a couple Uw trap runs and a Fow trip, got 2 ectos, 3 shards a couple of golds(nothing interesting) and the usual white,blue, occasional purple stuff.
Did find the chests in Uw a bit weird, but besides that i think it was/has been a fun weekend, really think Anet should consider unlocking Fow/Uw on the weekends.

You people are ridiculously lucky (or I'm ridiculously unlucky). Did several 3-man trap runs with the smites, watched my allies drown in their own ectos. Met a guy who said he got 11 ectos this week, met another who got 7.
I've still made about a profit of only about 8k, all off of generic whites.
I have more luck with the FoW, but all my fellow UW trappers scoring mass ectos is too tempting.
I must have killed a bazillion aatxes, a half a bazillion smites, etc. Nothing better than a purple not-max-dmg staff.

I wanted to do FoW/UW but after reading up on GuildWiki I realized I really need another armor set with its own runes just for FoW/UW. So I did Tomb last night and got alot of merchable stuff and was even able to salvage the wood I need for the Parchment(the Vellum armor is out of my price range and has the exact same armor and inherent mod as the Parchment armor) Scar Armor. I'll be able to make it this evening and probably get the runes for it too. More ectos seem to be dropping in Tomb this weekend.

Meh this weekend sucks for me. So little time to play (probably spent only 5-6 hours++ playing). And I done only 4 UW runs and it sucks. I'd be better off doing junundu farms if I keep getting junk from UW. Oh and I got a purple truncheon from the only chest I encountered.

Finally was able to play on the international districts, giving me the chance to do UW and FoW for the first time in 22 months.
So I did one FoW and two UW runs with a guildie, and got meselves 2 ecto's and a white dye (accompanied with golds, purples and blues)

I have enjoyed this event quite a bit. I tried to solo with my ele in UW and had a few successful runs. Takes a while to get the hang of it. So out of about 6-8 successful smite runs ai got 1 ecto.
The best part for me is acutally getting to see both FoW and UW and explore them. Very cool places in both. I was particularly taken by how cool the Twin Serpent mountains look. Went through them and onto some foggy looking place. Holy Moly! What is the deal with all those Mesmer spectres?!? You kill some and like double the amount you just killed come rushing for you. EEK!
As far as gold items go. Man what a joke. My guildy and I had to laugh at some of the mods that spawn on those things. Like a Gold Water wand that need x numer in Water and it was 10% faster cast of Air spell and 9% faster recharge of earth spells LOL.
Anywho, I like these areas and wish we didn't have such a weird system set up to actually get in them with greater frequency.

So far, I have gotten 37 shards 1 white dye, 1 black dye, numerous purple weapons and one gold chaos axe(req.10 though) from farming spiders with my warrior and farming the forest with my ranger over the course of 2 days so far. I would say that that is pretty good haul for this weekend. Well theres a few more hours in the UW/FoW weekend so I had better take advantage of them while I still can.

I think the whole event has been a hit with most people, wether testing builds and not having to pay to do it or just having a look. For those who didn`t get the drops - I`ve read posts that have had 8 barren runs in the UW, that`s just pure bad luck, the average is around .75 ectos per run (assuming your smite farming), and I write from experience.
This should most definatley be a regular event, it was especially nice for those who could meet up in the international zones for once. BRILLIANT!

I've had more ecto drop from less than 15 full Smite runs this weekend than all the ones before it (60+) combined. I was getting 1 ecto every 5 or 10 runs before... consistantly had 1 or more ectos per run.
