Guild Wars 2, Guild Wars Expansion Announced
Knightsaber Sith
He knows, he's just saying that to be annoying.
Etta
"Your deeds from the original Guild Wars campaigns will be commemorated in the Eye of the North expansion in your Hall of Monuments. The Hall of Monuments will reflect the achievements you earn in Eye of the North as well as those earned in Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall. You will even be able to show off your hall to friends.
Then, when Guild Wars 2 arrives, each of these monuments will correspond to special features your Guild Wars 2 characters can "inherit" from your own legendary past, giving you access to exclusive titles, companions (Heroes and pets), weapons, attire, and miniatures. These inherited items are unique: there is no other way within Guild Wars 2 to acquire them." - guildwars.com
There! No time capsule to put your armors, weapons etc in. Anymore question? Yes? Then you sir, are having an error Id:10t.
Thank you

Most people want it, but common sense (not to mention the articles..) tell you it's not going to happen.
garethporlest18
Wow this sounds awesome.
First off, there will be new lands and 18 dungeons, multi leveled dungeons, that's a lot of content imo.
Second, "40 new armor sets suitable for the great heroes of the" um you silly people they mean heroes as in our characters...
Also I hope that FoW and weapons can't be transfered because I don't want expensive things right away, GW 2 is another game, not GW 1.2.

Everything supercool but there's no mention about anything new for PvP in GW:EN, that looks like a pure PvE expansion (not counting that mere 100 skills, some of which may affect pvp alittle).
Are they counting on that every serious PvP will have to buy it anyway just to have access to all possible builds, including some new imbalanced skills that will make new FotMs ??

The transfer system is a 'monument'
So can we buried the cash in and pick it up hundreds of years later (GW2)?
Minipets are toy, they won't die if they are sealed for such long time

Hmm.. actually the thing I find the most interesting is the Charr concept art.. they sure got a make over from the looks of it... I like it but it also was a bit of a surprise as well.

Here's some math for the Fractions-challenged:
40(armor set number) / 10 (number of classes in Guild Wars) = 4.
If you really want to say this is a coincidence, go right ahead and divide it by the number of heroes, which is 15. Good luck equiping that two-thirds of an armor set.

Croco has a valid point. Can't we like stash all our money in a little hidey hole somewhere in the Hall of Monuments, where it'll be found centuries later?
I hope the Hall doesn't just carry over maxxed titles, perhaps all titles in general, or some? 80% Tyrian Exploration is still moderately hard and time-consuming, ya know.

GW2 is a brand-new game... Not a campaign, not an expansion. A brand-new game. You people are arguing in support of carrying your resources (and gold) in Warcraft III over to WoW... I'm rather surprised with the responses here concerning this.

Speaking of running around the world, that's something you'll actually be able to do; run, jump, basically just dork around however you like. When you land in a new world, O'Brien explained, you don't want to have to read a bunch of skill descriptions, you want to run around and jump and swing, so that's what you'll be able to do in Guild Wars 2. It's meant to be a learn-by-doing sort of situation--rather than have overly complex skills that take an excessive amount of brain matter to understand, players will learn less complicated skills that they will be encouraged to test out in any situation they can think of. What happens if you use this skill while jumping, or that one while surrounded by monsters? Who knows? Give it a whirl and find out! Strain referred to it as "emergent complexity," |

Third time I've explained it in this thread so I'm just going to copy in paste. We wont know for absolutely sure 'til they feel like elaborating- but this seems to go along with all there statements so far rather than everyone assuming your transferring items.
Quote:
That's not what it's saying at all. It unlocks NEW weapons and minis and such. Each title you have puts another statue in your Hall of Monuments, each statue unlocks something new. Example(not the actual rewards): Protector of Tyria statue- unlocks mini Glint Canthan Grand Master Cartographer- unlocks special armor skin Treasure Hunter- unlocks special weapons These rewards can't be obtained any other way, but it's nowhere near the same thing as transferring items. |

Well, lets see.
It says armor, weapons, titles, etc, will have some sort of carry-over. Obviously it will be a new game, with different levels, damage amounts on weapons, bonuses, etc. So weapons will have to be changed somehow. Perhaps they can carry over a name? A skin? That wouldn't be hard, and they wouldn't have to do it with everything. As far as weapons go, carry over maybe just the names of greens? Willcrusher would be cool . . . if mesmers stick around or there is something similar to daze, things could be changed a bit. So perhaps weapons that have the same name as their GW 1 green counterpart. Armor . . . . perhaps insignia-type armor (fully modifiable) will be present in GW 2, in which case you could simple have prestige armor skins carry over from GW 1 . . . FoW and two sets of 15k per class, etc. Thus, the stats of the armor and weapons will mesh with GW 2 entirely, while keeping rare skins, for both armor and weapons. No need to worry about someone carrying over "max" FoW armor and starting at lvl 1 with crazy powerful armor or weapons. Perhaps armor can level with you, if it is prestige armor carried over via Hall of Monuments. Or weapons. Who knows. All Im saying is, names of weapons, similar while not identical stats, these things can easily deal with the weapon/armor inheritance of items.
However, it could also work like this.
You put a title, weapon, armor set "into" the Hall of Monuments, however that will work, then when you play GW 2, you receive periodic, or perhaps upon joining the game, or reaching certain towns, special items, titles, etc, that are unique to GW 2, but only possible if you have the stuff in the your HoM. So, i put in some FoW armor, Razorstone, and Protector of Tyria in . . . then once I start GW 2, I start off with a title, have some presents in my inventory (I know, these things wil be different, but there will be SOME sort of inventory, storage, etc). These presents would contain exclusive, rare, sweet weapons and items.
Im interested in seeing how this plays out. First thing i am doing is remaking my main char, and while I don't care if I don't get my exact armor, it would be great to have access to some unique and good stuff, having played alot of GW 1.

Sorry about the extra post. Also, there would be no need to modify armor skins from GW 1 for every race in GW 2 . . . all of the stuff from GW: EN that can carry over would obviously be from human characters, so when the remodelling goes down, if it does, it will only need to be done for those who play human characters in GW 2.
Domino
That's all pure speculation at this point, dude. For all we know armor will be handled entirely differently in GW2.
It's silly to assume that any of the weapons, items, or gameplay mechanics from Guild Wars would be feasible in GW2.
It's for this same reason that I can't help laughing when people talk about bringing their old crap into GW2... they're literally re-doing the entire game from the ground up it sounds like. None of that stuff belongs in GW2, imho.

Oh I know its all speculation :-) And I know that the game will be a new game. Names and modified stats don't seem farfetched, though I know that the mechanics, how damage works, all that, will work completely differently. games like this are all similar in many respects . . . damage kept track of numerically, inventory space, etc. GW 2 versions of this can have new versions of older stuff. Actual items will obviously not transfer. Its just that to say that weapons and armor from GW 1 will have "some" presence in GW 2 for veterans means that there will be some recognizable resemblance between the two (otherwise its kinda pointless), with co-existence in the new game not being compromised.

1. after a 100 years these weapons/ armor will no longer be made
2. after a 100 years the person who made this weapon/ armor is dead and so the son will take over having a different style.
3. after a 100 years your character is dead, got married to a girl/ guy, had babies, you stored your armor in the monument only your family knows, ur kid goes off saying he wants to be a hero, goes there and grab your "Unique" armor/weapons.
edit:
Although like I heard it, its gonna be hard to fit these new armor to the new races, but hells.. why the hell would a charr wear a human armor? I mean like how the heck did your human character get around and hook up with a charr guy/girl? I mean ewwww... So what I get is this, these armor and weapons can probably be accesed only by a human race? cus hello... your kid/grand kid can wear your armor since they are human. So and since you are transfering them, you cant take them back, doh. Iono I'm stupid like I said so i could/ am wrong lol. But yeah if they can make armor a one time transfer I'm kewl, if not I'm still kewl with it.

Ugh, I feel like I'm reposting this every five minutes...
You UNLOCK special bonus gear you can use. No where does it mention transferring anything.

Dear Anet
First of I have read the article, read about future plans and such, and there were things I liked and disliked but I am not gonna preach on what I like and do not like, just on what you shouldn't forget.
Guildwars for me is the first MMO I've played longer then 3 months better put you guys got me hooked for allmost two years now. So I thrust that you know how to make and build a game.
I've played I think many off the bigger MMO's out there WoW, Lineage2, SWG, ENB,... to name a couple. But what did those games lack and what keeps me fascinated in this one, wel when I first started playing I entered pre seering and got a movie, thought by myself ah nothing special allmost all of the MMo's have that to get you based in their world. But after I finished preseering I noticed that the quest were linked towards a bigger story. Then when I left I got a new movie ... I went huh?!? Then it became clear that this had concepts of an offline game storytelling but in MMO style and I became in love. But that was for a short time because I quickly discovered PvP. I noticed the arena in Ascalon and then in Lions Arch and soon I wouldn't move on in the game and just play against people all day. Then guildies of mine felt obliged to pull me a bit more through the game had fun enjoyed the story and so on. But until this day I haven't finished any of the three expantions and well... Honestly I don't even mind. I unlocked my entire account through faction so PvP and I enjoyed every last minute of it, that's great that one could go at it in two ways pvp or pve for unlocking. Now the point that I am making is that I enjoyed the pve aspect but I loved how the pvp worked.
For all the games I did there is no other game out there that has such a well balanced pvp system. I am damn sure that I am not the only one in this matter just look at the ladders, just look at HA when it was still 8vs8 al lot of people play pvp.
I understand that their are people in the game which just love the pve and I am pretty sure that the content for those people are limited. Well I think most of the people complaining about the game are people who do nothing but pve.
But I still find that this game as even the name states Guild Wars it litterly is a PvP game. I understand that you wanna make everyone happy Pve and PvP people and I trully hope that you can do that. But keep in mind that most of the people that still stick with GW are in hearth PvP people. I've seen many people leave over time even now a lot are still leaving often I wondered why but when I asked one question I knew. Do you PvP? answer no why?
Pve in this game is limited I know that. Some just keep doing the same over and over again. In a way PvP is doing the same over and over again... but it is not. Builds diver people diver a top guild could not have it's day and you can slip a victory in, a tactic is missed and a match is lost. Every time you enter in pvp every game you play is diffrent from the next one, even if both teams you've played so far have the same build.
So what I am really pleading for is make GW2 have a ball I thrust you guys to make something awesome who knows you might even convince me to do a little more Pve. But keep in mind the most people that whine are people that got blinded by one side of the game and might just not have tried it's true nature. Please the way pvp is now for me it's perfect and doesn't need an upgrade... and this I mean. It's like a card game which has been around for ages some of you might know it Magic the Gathering. It works on a very basic way you have a deck you make with all sorts of combo's in it and try to beat your oponent. When I was younger I played it and often wondered what fun it would be to actually have my deck come to life, guess what for me GW is that embodyment. GW is the same in pvp 8 skills 8 people 64 skills in total and it's not allways the skills but people that make the diffrence.
With all the talk about lvl caps and such I agree with the main thing a lvl 100 should not be able to pound a lvl30 into the ground. It shouldn't become a game I invested more time then you in my char. But I wouldn't mind that the evolution cap is for example lvl 30 or 20 but after that evolution cap lvl becomes a sort of a title. Look I am lvl 1200 (but his true cap att wise is 20)
Either way I think I never said it before Anet thx for Guild Wars, for making it a great competitive game! I am sure you'll make something great if you don't tamper with the things that are allready great in this game.

hi i have a question about guild wars 2. Will it be simular to guild wars 1 in the sense that you will be 'railroaded' in the sense that you are forced to follow missions/storyline to progress through the world, or will it be like MMORPGs where the world is vast and u can travel anywhere and explore?????

they both kept emphasizing was the desire to give the player as much freedom as possible. Keeping the incidence system from Guild Wars and combining it with a more traditional, persistent world gives players the freedom to play the game however they like--run around the world, meet people, enjoy the community, or just go raid a dungeon. Your choice. |

Just to be super-clear:
The only thing confirmed to carry over from the current Guild Wars games to Guild Wars 2 is titles.
I suggest if you want to be sure on carrying over your legacy, you work on getting some titles. I know I am!

Ok, let me make this absolutely clear, even if just for Knightsaber Sith. The actual items will not carry over. That has been pretty obvious, since the game is being rewritten from the ground up. There is "some sort of carryover", some sort of commemoration, that ppl will recognize as being the result of a Hall of Monuments transfer. In the quote above from the official website, it was we get "titles, companions (Heroes and pets), weapons, attire, and miniatures" that ppl in GW 2 who do not have GW 1 cannot get. What, everyone who played GW 1 and has a HoM gets a mini Stone Summit Dwarf? A banana sword/shield/wand to go with that scythe? The whole POINT of the HoM is to give older players in GW 2 a taste of their time spent in GW 1, the website SAYS there will be such a carryover. That doesn't mean it has to be exact items, which is what I was saying in my last few posts anyways.

Believe me, there's nothing you need to make clear for me.
