Guild Wars 2, Guild Wars Expansion Announced

Meh, dont care about arguing any more, i just want to mess with charr in GWEN! ^_^

Maybe just semantics, but by inheritance I would assume something concrete and useful in the GW2. Not sure how it will be handled, so I won't speculate.
Scenario 1: My ancestor is a great hero. I would be embarrassed to wear that title, something I have not earned myself and therefore unfitting and undeserving to use. Now, give me his or her armor/weapons, and let me earn those titles myself. Inheritance comes with a privilege, not bragging rights.
Scenario 2: My ancestor is a hall of fame ball player. I get to use his bat and glove for inspiration. I am not in the hall of fame.
Just my 2 cents.

GW1 titles may be the keys required to unlock something in GW2, but as far as I understand they are not transferred.

I agree with tetris... this probably means you get a ...
NEW weapon
NEW title
NEW attire
NEW weapon
NEW title
NEW attire

Ya, I agree as well. Everything will be new in GW2. It's not even the same style of gameplay as there will be jumping and new skill system and the like. I cannot wait! But I'll stick to GW:EN for now, as it's closer in time! XD
And to the people in the first 4 pages I say this: Have fun arguing about a game that is 2 years away! :P

It seems that the titles aren't any different from the other stuff: You unlock them. They are new. They are not the same titles as in GW1. GW1 titles may be the keys required to unlock something in GW2, but as far as I understand they are not transferred. |
In particular, please define the words "exclusive" and "unique." These words have been used in the past, and do NOT mean "one of a kind." They usually mean an item that is "rare" or only is available in a certain way.
In other words, it's quite possible some items could be transferable, but they could be customized or changed.
Even using your example of "unlocking" these hereditary items; what's to say a system can't be in place that "unlocks" a new FoW type armor by placing an old FoW armor in your Hall?

Genius, simply Genius!

European site mentioned when GW:EN will be released more clearly.
Bye bye unclear 'holiday release' explanation.

To make this clear, the procedure listed in the announcement is this:
Collect titles
Buy GWEN
Get Monuments
Buy GW2
Link GW2 character to GW1 character
Monuments unlock stuff including titles
Whether the titles for the GW2 character are the same as the ones on the GW1 character is not clear yet. But, there is no transfer of anything from GW1 to GW2. Now that you have read this, read the announcement again so that you understand what they are saying and so that it will hopefully stick in your head.

Hmmm, the phrase from your own legendary past screams out at me for some reason.
Maybe these will be new "titles, companions (Heroes and pets), weapons, attire, and miniatures", maybe they won't.
The word unique does not necessarily disqualify existing items - Greens, for example, are classified as "unique", even though an unlimited amount of them potentially exist.
I'm not sure the official release is as clear as people think it is...

You inherit the title and the title comes with unique goodies you can't get anywhere else. But I don't see this "inheriting" as most people seem to- I have this Victos blade, I'll just leave it here and it'll magically appear in GW2.
Believe me, there's nothing you need to make clear for me. |

This hall will be located in a sort of base of operations you can establish in Eye of the North. The instanced base will allow you to store not only the Eye of the North achievements in the form of monuments but the achievements earned in all three campaigns. Every monument earned will unlock something, from heroes and pets to weapons, clothes and miniatures, in Guild Wars 2. When you create your character in Guild Wars 2 you can choose a character from Guild War to inherit these unlocks from. Kind of a neat idea, I think. To bad these new character don't also inherit some other attributes or traits from your Guild Wars characters, that would be fantastic. Strain said the team decided to include this form of inter-character inheritance to make sure that all of the time players spent playing Guild Wars wouldn't be wasted. |
This should clear up all the character transfer misconception...
~You cannot transfer your weapons/armour this is not a BIG CHEST to put all your stuff in.....You must EARN monuments...this monument will in turn UNLOCK content in GW2 which cannot be obtained otherwise.

its pretty silly to argue about a game thats not comming out for years... we dont even REALLY know anything about it.
as far as GW:EotN goes.. neat.. im excited (except for the super cheesy dungeons.. can anyone say stereotypical rpg??) no one needs to get all fussy over GW2 tho, lets just be happy we have EotN comming. TBH, i dont even like what ive heard about GW2 at all so far. sounds like what i left to play GWs in the first place.. contridicts all that i've grown to know and love about GWs (cough cough WoW.. and dont say "you cant compair WoWto GWs.. no.. I cant.. but i can compair what i KNOW are the changes so far to GWs TWO to WoW.. open ended with no town hubs, jumping, sliding, swimming, a catastrophic skill set.. the LEVEL CAP -or lack the of- yikes.. thats WoW folks). regardless, im excited to continue playing my fav MMO ever in GW:EotN in the upcomming year, woo!

o..k? where did you get that other than to misinterpret the GWS.com post.. which says
No launch date was announced, but the ArenaNet team anticipates that Guild Wars 2 will go into beta sometime in the second half of 2008.
meaning no date is set, but its beta will probably (not even sure of that) come out 2nd half of 2008.. meaning it might not be RELEASED till much later.. heck.. even a year from the beta wouldnt be all that unheard of.. they ARE making a whole new game you know..
i also didnt say it was incredible to TALK about it.. but to argue? please

The answer: No one knows for sure.
Warmaster Graeme
ANet, please don't discontinue our characters or raise the level cap as the original Guild Wars is awesome... the PvP is great as is the PvE, to improve the game the skills just need balancing more. HA is too full of spike teams or heavy pressure teams... no old school balanced anymore as it gets rampaged over.
