Well, there is a limit to what an artist can do. At the rate commissions are being asked for at the moment, its raining. It's not like an artist only does commissions, he or she makes other works aswell. Perhaps at some point, he or she decides to try a new sort of drawing style, which isn't fit for commissions. The artist should have such freedom. Though it would be gentle to tell the audience though.
I just uploaded a black'n'white and coloured version of the commission I got from Meshsmoother (only bothered to upload the "naughty" version though). I assume you've already seen it in my other thread

Hmm, is it the shower picture? ![]() Regarding the whole "waiting for commissions"... I've had one relatively expensive commission I've been waiting a freaking half year for! So I hope someone can steer some pity in my direction ![]() |
@ Sectus - There's an easy answer. GaiaOnline. They have a section of their forum [with 6million+ users] dedicated to art commissions, auctions, trades, contests, etc. It's pretty easy to earn gold [posting, voting in polls, playing games, etc], but inflation on art is kinda bad. The R&C board. Stay out of Chatterbox. Trust me.

while i agree that sometimes waiting for a drawing sucks, artists do have a life outside drawing, and they have better/other things to do. and sometimes they suffer from the "artist block" and cant draw anything at all.

Wow, did you just seriously recommend gaia to someone? :/
That's like referring people to TS (not Teamspeak). It makes you look bad. >.>

I used to draw on Gaia. The only problem is having to draw Gaian characters while I find peoples original characters much much much more interesting as well as something like GW characters. Because they have style. :P
As far as having to wait ages for commission goes. The artist offering commission should make it clear how long it takes or if they are very busy etc and gracefully accept commission rectracting. Some are slow some are fast. Huhu...I hope I made it clear on my thread that I've been immobilized as far as drawing goes. I mean busy and I feel a bit bad for making people wait, especially EtherealByte atm. But I will get it done. >.<
But it's not as though people offering commissions on forums are any kinds of 'pros' in business matters or have any general idea about how efficiently they themselves work on such projects. Like me they might swamp themselves without realizing wheter they could actually do it or not. Once I told a person that I could not finish their request afterall and just ended up getting them pissed at me even though the artwork was/would have been practically free. It's just the way it goes. :P
But yeah all I'm saying is that there's never an excuse, everyone knows it and I'm a bad girl myself...augh. I have a artwork promised to my friend that has been hanging for what... a half a year now? I always have those. I bet many people do. >.<
