Like the title says. A lot of people have extra armor sets and they cant be for farming because most of the sets are pretty expensive (I guess they could be for farming if your just really rich..).

So heres the poll:
Question 1) How many armor sets do you have on your favorite character?

Question 2) What do you use with these armor sets?
A)"I have it for looks, duh!"
B)"Farming"
C)"A change in build calls for a change in looks, everyone knows that"
D)"Other"

The reason i'm doing this is because i'm making a ritualist and I like at least 3 armor sets I want to get her. Thanks for the replies!
(This goes for obviously any class/any armor)

Linking armor to Builds, is, IMO, one of the worst ideas about Guild Wars.

I'm really hoping GW2 goes away from this, or if Attributes ARE linked to armor, there is a MUCH better way to manage it. Because now, you have a pretty nice interface in order to pick your skills and attributes together, but then have to go into another interface to swap armor. Minor, I know, but irritating, especially since you need to collect multiple sets of armor in order to really have a flexible character.

That said, I've somehow managed to have two sets for three characters:

Warrior: Glad for energy; and a basic Cantha for + 20 armor in Stance (swap helmets for Axe, Sword, or Hammer)

Mesmer: Energy / Dom set.; + armor when enchanted / illusion set for Illusionary Weapon build.

Ele: + armor when enchanted / Fire set; a Sunspear set for looks only

So, in short, I take multiple sets for looks and for utiliterian purposes. I do, however, feel limited by armor for the amount of builds I can use.

1) All the builds I play regularly have 2 sets, 15k and 1.5k.

2) All my 15k armor are set up for general adventuring, good for just about anywhere. 1.5k on my ranger is for my touch build for desert farming. 1.5k on my necro is extra protection/blood build for tombs. 1.5k on my warrior is a hammer setup. 1.5k on my monk is extra energy. 1.5k on my ele just ups my health. The collectors armor for my mesmer is purely for looks.

One to three 15k sets, depending on the character. I have each one set for a different attribute lines, and plan to eventually have one set for each attribute line.

If you're buying three sets for your rit, that's easy enough- set one for Communing, one for Channeling, and one for Restoration.

2.For both looks and Functionality.I have a Set of 15k Gladiator Armor for PvP and PvE use,A set of 15k Endgame Primevil armor with the Dreadnaught armor insignia for areas with high amounts of elemental damage, and I plan on purchasing a set of 15k Kurzicks with either Stalwart or Brawlers.I haven't decided yet.Or I might even get a second set of 15k armor so that I can use both.

#1. My Assassin has two sets of armour. None of my other chars have a secondary set yet.

#2. Different builds require different armour bonus. My Exotic Armour (coloured 'orange' but turned out brown... from before the dye change) is all Shrouded for extra energy. My 15k Kurzick armour (coloured magenta / pink, which has become my standard colour now) is Nightstalker for the armour bonus... I use the Exotic for my Illusionary Weaponry build and for pseudo-spellcasting in places where an ordinary assassin has trouble surviving.... and I use the 15k Kurzick for all the 'normal' Assassin stuff....
For what it is worth, I also have an extra Shadowy Mask of Superior Shadow Arts (Canthan 1.5k) for those incidents when I need uber-high Shadow Arts... e.g. for Shadow Form.

My Necro will be getting a second set of ascended armour when she gets far enough through Nightfall... as I'd like her to have a set of Minion Master armour as well as her standard SS (curses) armour.

That makes it seem like you are buying the armor because you want to have a special look to go with your builds... I buy it strictly for the functionality. I may have taken the quote a little too literally. Whatever, really.

Yes I do this often. Basicly because of the cost of runes and constant changing of builds for PvE I have several sets of armor.

For example:
Necro:
Armor for Biping calls for a 55 build so I can get to 1 Hit Point quickly for Bip.
Armor for Minion mastering calls for another set of runes all together.

Monk:
Armor for 55 monking
Armor for Bonding so I can maintain 14 bonds. 16 Prot 15 Divine etc..
Armor for normal Monking (Healing Protection etc..)
Armor for Smite Adventureing and exploring.

Warrior:
Armor for Obsidion Flesh Tanking and high STR req builds like hammer builds.
Armor for Tactical builds where STR is under 13 and I need high tactics.

Assassin:
Armor for normal builds (+15 when attacking)
Armor for high energy usage builds like deadly arts builds (+8 energy overall)

Ritualist:
Armor for Farming FOW (+10 when holding an item)
Armor for everything else (+8 energy overall)

Ranger:
One Set does me fine (+8 energy)

Elementalist:
One Set does me fine (+8 energy)

Mesmer:
One Set does me fine (+8 energy)

Paragon and Dervish
One Set for each (5 energy and +15 hp on these characters)

my main toon...ele has a few sets....none are complete.
I have different gloves for each of my attributes and they are all different armor types....I have one head piece with sup energy storage on it....I have different tops and skirts with extra armor vs lightning, cold, fire etc....and she has one set of boot (with sup vigor).

my main monk has 2 sets (one is 55 the other is normal) and a different head tat for each attribute (prot, smite, and healing)...

my main mesmer just likes to collect armor...she has lots of sets most with the same armor type ----got most of them before insignias and such.

most of my characters have almost 2 sets.....my rits each have 2 sets (they have a resto set, a communing set and then a channeling set). My necro has a mm set and a curses set, and so on.

I do like to collect armor, but I also try to make it useable not just another thing to take up storage (except for my mesmer ).

My Warrior has 4 sets of "main" armor (15k Kurz/Luxon/Tyrian Gladiator/Insgnia FoW), Glads stats with all of them having Stonefist Gauntlets since that's my usual stuff. I also have a Sentinal armor set for when I play something in PvP with high strength, which is more often than not a Hammer Warrior. Then I have a set of 15k Primeval armor with full survivor insignia's.

All efficiency stuff.

My Warrior has 3; 15k gladiators, for running and high energy needs (and because the 1.5k is so ugly); 15k dragon, because it looks really good, and my preferred armor bonus is +10AL vs. elemental. It's my most used set. I also have a 1.5k knights, because there is no 15k set, I like having a large, bulky metal armor with lots of shiny bits. I don't really use it much unless I'm in easier areas for whatever reason and I want to look good.

My Elementalist has 2 atm, although I may get a third. She has 1.5k pyromancers, because fire is quite common in PvE, and I don't like the 15k version. She also has 15k aeromancers because it's hot, and lightning damage is also kinda common.

1) I have 1 set of armorfor my warrior ( favorit character), BUT, I have 5 pairs of glove( one for each superior rune) and 2 helmet ( strenght and tactic)

D) this give me a lot of flexibitliy on my builts without destroying my budget. I can do most built with ony a few minor change to the attribute point most of the time. It also leave me a lot of room for new built.

My necromancer has 3 sets. My warriors each have 2 sets. My elementalist has 4 sets. A., C., and D. Basically I want to look good while at the same time using the right armor set for the right situation. And sometimes I will just use whatever armor I feel like if whatever I am doing does not require a specific build/armor.

Question 1) How many armor sets do you have on your favorite character?

So far I got 11 pves

~ Tyrian Warrior: 3 sets (Vabbian, Primeval, 15 Gladiator)
~ Canthan Necromancer: 1 set (Luxon 15k) - I plan On getting this toon more the moment I take her deeper into tho the other campaigns.
~ Canthan Ranger: 2 sets (15k studded leather, 15k druids) - I plan On getting this toon more the moment I take her deeper into tho the other campaigns.
- Ritualist: 4 1/3 sets (15k Kurzick, 15k Luxon, Ancient and 1 Fow Helmet) - I'm still working on getting the rest of the fow, but i'm not that in a rush.
- Paragon: 2 Sets (Vabbian and Primeval)
- Canthan Elementalist: 6 sets (Luxon 15k, Kurzick 15k, Vabbian, Sunspear Elite, Ancient, Canthan 15k)
- Elonian Monk: 3 (Ancient, Kurzick 15k, Luxon 15k) - She has a full set of hair so I'm don't worry of getting expensive maxed headpieces. :-D
- Assassin (Male Version): 7 Sets (15k Kurzick, 15k Luxon (2 sets for different functualities), Canthan 15k, Imperial 15k, Ancient, Vabbian) - I would get exotic 15k if it was sooo disturbing.
- Assassin (Female): 7 Sets (2 15k Kurzicks, 2 15k Luxons (For Different Functualities), Canthan 15k, Vabbian, Ancient. - I hope the up and coming armor for the female sin is something sensual and sexy at the same time with a hard edge.
- Elonian Mesmer: 1 (15k Enchanters) - I plan On getting this toon more the moment I take her deeper into tho the other campaigns.
- Dervish: 3 (Primeval, Sunspear Elite, Vabbian)

My favorites are Ritualist and the Assassin.

Question 2) What do you use with these armor sets?
A)"I have it for looks, duh!"
B)"Farming"
C)"A change in build calls for a change in looks, everyone knows that"
D)"Other"

How about all of the above. LOL. What can I say, I love going out pricey. Good looking people like me should always have the finast of things. LOL, yet diverse which is why I am only getting Fow for the Rit Only. Fow would just unmotivate me to diversify the character i buy it for.

-Tyrian Elementalist(F) 1 set 15k aero with a full set of headpeices for each attribute

- Tyrian Necro(F) 1 set 15k scars with bloodstained boots. I now have a 1.5k DM sunspear face scare with a bloodstaind insignia and plan to get 15k foot scars to complete the armor.

-Tyrian Ranger(F) 2 sets desert collectors and 15k druids + a set of masks.

-Tyrian Warior(F) 3 sets Tyrian(Knights Variant), Knights and Vabian(With knights sinsigna) I have sword and axe helms for the Tyrian set; sword and hammer(with stonfist insigna) for the Vabian. Planing on getting a set of 15k glads for high energy builds.

-Canathian Assasin(F) 3 sets Seitung, 1.5k Exotic and 15k Luxan all in valkyries

- Elonian Paragon(F) 2 sets Istani and Vabian both with survivor insignia. I will probably get a set of ancient just for looks when I have the cash spare.

- Elonian Dervish(F) 1 set Vabian

- Canathian Msmer(F) 1 set 1.5k Canathian character has not yet finished any campain and so has not earned a 15k set.

In all cases I have kept the none ascended sets for looks and charactor history. On the charactors with only one set such as my ele I salavged the old set for materials and money or because I did not like the looks and they were just to get the character to the point where she could get a 15k set.

3 sets on my Ranger.

2)What do you use with these armor sets?
Certain very specific builds. +energy is better than anything else if I go full trapper (sometimes farming, sometimes not). I've also got a +health and stance +al set, and I switch those depending on specific needs. Lately, I've been using the Health armor almost exclusively.

I play ritualist as my main character. As such, I like to play a wide range of builds from spirit spamming to spirit's strength. Because of this I run 5 sets with 2 headpieces each with a different superior rune based on the builds for that armor set (I do go for looks too. I only use my favorite 15k skins, and vabbi as well)

I have a duplicate of the Ghost Forge line of armors (different skin than my most used) because of different rune needs for some builds.

All the armor gets to be a pain to swap into because I rarely play the same builds for long. However, I have noticed just how flexible this makes my ritualist.

D)"Other" I'd say it's a mix between, showing off for a bit, even though I mostly walk around in glads. I use some armors mainly for farming, because I rune-customized them so they would fit into multiple builds of mine. Another reason I got FoW is purely for a change of the look sometimes.

I always try to get an armor as balanced as possible, that way I can use just the same armor for everything. I think a LOT choosing the more balanced armor, even making a PvP character for easily make the armor I want, and replicate it in PvE. With Nightfall, choosing armor is a lot easier, because you can replicate exactly what you want.

2 main armor sets on my monk.

1 has Wanderer's stats, and is for use in PvE. Staying in the backline, the only stuff that usually hits me would be spellcasters, so some extra armor against that is always useful.

The other set has +hp, for use in PvP.

Of course I also have some interswitchable pants and headgear, depends on if I'm protting or healing.
