Maybe to keep it fresh PvE side, have them add in some neat quest that are actually worthwhile to complete every so often or have season quest that are only available in the fall or winter for example. Even time specific quest would be a neat thing. Not really asking much like reinventing the wheel but I know stuff like that is no easy task. I just say this because when Guild Wars first came out, they had often added new quest in several of the updates and it was something new for my main guy to try out.

As for farming, they might get rid of the AE damage nerf in normal mode.. but yea, the PvE in this game is really lackluster. Almost all of the optional quests they made for last 2 chapters have absolutely no point other than maybe to level your heroes.

At least in Prophecies you got some cool skills for completing the quests there and A-net thought that was a horrible reward so they replaced it with useless collector tokens and some trite amount of experience and gold. Hell, they even took out the weapon rewards that Prophecies had. Although most of the weapons are useless now, it was kind of cool to get weapons with different mods that you were less likely to see before Factions/Nightfall.

But yea, I'm still annoyed that I have to waste 1k gold on some useless skills so I can use them in specific areas. Oh well, that debate was long killed by A-net and their decision to make more gold sinks.

I want to make it clear that I am NOT complaining/ranting/griping about GW. It is by far the best online game ever created...and my favorite game bar none. I am wanting to make clear some of the replay 'problems' to help in the creation of future chapters/games.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
here are the three top reasons why I think its getting boring for me.
1. PVE is dull. ~Where, after finishing three chapters several times, is the motivation to continue this mmorpg? the quests/missions are linear and boring after the first couple times....
2. PVP (the good kind) is hard to break into with a schedule like mine. and the type of player base in the lower end pvp areas (pug areas like AB, RA) is chalk full of immature, 12 year olds.
3. GW seems to be lacking an immersive atmosphere for such a wonderful 'escapist's world'. why do I always hear about politics, sports, and world issues when I log on to 'escape' into the world of GW?
hey, your case is exactly identical to me!
Recently i moved to somewhere else with different timezone as my friends/guildies
I dont feel "very" bored but whenever i want and can go PVP (say, HA) my friends are all sleeping and since im still pretty low in rank i cant find any group at all
So yea, when i feel bored there is always PVP, but this doesnt work for me (and i assume for many others as well)
The list of what i hate about current HA
1) Rank elitism
2) Killcount
3) Elitism is driving me crazy
4) Elitism of coz
5) I hate elitism
Unfortunately i cant think of any solution to this, so :'[
Nothing compares to the thrill of achieving something for the first time. Taking my monk through Prophecies really felt epic. Everything was new and exciting - every unlocked skill, every level up, every new piece of armor, every zone reached and viewed for the first time. I did it again with another character, but it just wasn't the same. This is true for each campaign. There are other ways I have fun in GW, obviously, but being a newbie was the best.
It's the reason I understand Anet's plan to raise the level cap. It provides for a huge world and an epic storyline - like Prophecies on steroids. My hope is that there will always be something new and fun to do, so much that I can barely experience it all with two or three favorite characters.
I wish I could go everywhere in all 3 campaigns with no obstacles like closed doors or be forced to collect factions or any others kinds of things and be able to explore the maps completely ...... there are so many places inaccessibles.
For me, the begining of the end started after NF made GW a single player game (I still love heros, maybe a bit too much) and finally all the PvE/PvP skill debates made me a frustrated player. That was the last straw.
I've been playing on and off since release, but more off in the last 7 months.
For me, the game lacks a lot of community elements that make other MMO's more interesting.
Also, the expansions haven't had the same feel as Prophecies did, they are too cut and dry.
I look at it where the replay value is still there, even after working thru so many missions.
I have 9 characters that have beaten all 3 chapters (my dervish is the slacker, she's only beaten nightfall). What's fun about it is I have used all of the professions, so I have elites in everything.
I've been going back, so each of the primary professions elites are captured so my heroes can run any build, along with the primary able to do anything.
Working on titles, helping the alliance out, hey, it's a different thing everyday.
Considering the fact I'm at work and still reading the forums there, it gives me ideas of what next to try when I get home and have a chance to play. If the interest wasn't there, I probably would be on CNN or something
I still have fun with the game, BUT... the addition of Hero's just killed it a bit for me. I'd love to see no hero's, no henchmen, except maybe you can grab an Academy Monk, like the ones scattered through pre-searing.
hmm, I must say that my exp has been completely different - I've rarely been bored with the game.
I took 6 chars thru Proph, 5 of those + 1 assassin thru Fact, and 2 of those (so far) thru NF. I have several duplicate profs (2 W, 1 ele, 1 mes) at various stages of Fact, and 1 para that I'm working on.
When I do get tired of doing A, I'll go do B for a while, then maybe a little C, i.e. - some missions/quests on this or that char, a little farming, spend a cpl days helping PUGs thru some of the more difficult missions.
People are forgeting that this game is not an MMO its a CO that means its a regulare RPG that has online features like pvp and the fact that its multiplayer on a world wide level other than that it's a normal everyday rpg like every rpg before it aka the origonal console games ppl use to play and love.
The PvE aspect of GW is absolutely ridiculous and boring. There are no "leet" items, you make your own personal armor instead of finding it, there is no point farming and spending ours trying to get a certain item when you can get an item that does the same thing from a collector, etc. Granted, GW is not about finding godly items, etc., but it doesn't mean that it is fun like this. The PvE is so watered down and babyed that it's tedious to play.
Moreover, there is absolutely no reason to PvE once you've got every rune, skill, upgrade, etc. unlocked. Oh big deal you got a PvE title... that means jack squat when it comes to PvP.
IMO, I think they should just make GW PvP only, seeing as it's the only rewarding thing in the game and is the end game of Guild Wars.
Overall, GW is a great idea, but with all the struggles of trying to make the game "fair and balanced" just makes it very dry and boring. You can have fair and balanced play while adding a lot to the game through awesome items, armors, etc.
I dunno.
I had fun with GW while I had my friends online. Now they left for most of them it has become boring.
My fun never lied in the PVE or whatever. GW's storyline is quite nice in fact, not poorer than, say, WoW. GW's PVE, still, is limited, in terms width of landscapes, and alternate quests.
But GW's PvP side is clearly one of the best, if not the best, of all the the MMO I tested. After that, everything remains in the hand of the community.
So IMHO, GW has nothing to compare to other MMO.
To increase replayability and decrease boredom many things have already been proposed:
-An Auction House
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=20264
-Minigames, other than week events, that can earn you money (and not COST YOU MONEY FOR A TITLE)
-A Roleplay side.
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=12840
-A Guild House, where guilds could put their adds to recruit
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=80612
-Hard Mode, but clever hard mode, not just multiply damage, health, casting time and number of mobs by 2.http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10085034
I call it GuildWars fatigue. And it stroke me when I read about GW2 and GW:EN.
GW is still the best online game I ever played, I just can't find goals anymore or goals that are worth playing for. Been playing other games last month and tried a few times to pick up where I left and have some fun in GW but I leave after 5-10 minutes again.
Anet launched the knews about GW2 way to soon for me.
First off I want to say most immature players are age 16-25, average being around 19-20. Not 12 year olds, it's usually people that know better than to do, what they do. But don't like losing, among other things and throw a hissy fit about it.
Anyways, I'm bored of GW so much that I can't be hassled to play, I log on to say hi to people then go back to LOTRO or go outside. GW probably has lost me for the most part, till hardmode, which won't keep me tied for long. But it'll always be the game I come back to when bored with every other game and for a few more weeks has number 1 on my list, till LOTRO steals it away.
There isn't much anet can do to make GW more fun for me, I'm totally played out. Oh and I've been playing for about 22 months. Have 11 characters, beat all 3 campaigns, all that jazz.
Everyone gets bored of games/video games eventually. Personally, I'm a little bored, but it's held my attention for over a year now, which is about a year more than every other game I've played. Diablo 2 would be the next highest game time I ever racked up, and it's only around 3-4 months.
It really doesn't bother me since I feel like I definately got my money's worth. Besides, even with taking a break from it, I can guarantee I'll be back. It doesn't matter. If you're bored, stop playing. It really is that simple.
My suggestion:
Open a gates, make Factions and NF runnable.
Its fine to play through EVERY zone the first time but it was nice in GW:P to be able to skip large sections with 2nd/3rd toon etc!
You can always go back, and personally I found fighting/running through an area to get a shortcut was fun. (NOT FUN: doing same in factions on first day and finding the gate to the village locked!!!)
