Tyria's Next Top Model Cycle 2

Let's not turn this into a war now, I hope that everyone will be happy regardless of who wins/lose, both of our candidates are very deserving, so either person winning should be a joyous occassion for anyone! With that said, lets get to the final panel!

Week 01 - Calender Shoot

Judge 01 - I'm torn between both photos, for me, Szei does a better job at capturing her month, however, I find Arala's picture more visually appealing. I do feel that Arala's attempt to capture New Years in cantha was a poor choice cause it really is more reminiscient of the Lunar Calendar New Years versus what is generally celebrated.

Judge 02 - I prefer Arala's picture over Szei, however Szei definitely had the bigger impact on me on week 01. First impressions are always important, and for me, you really stood out that week because you posed outside of the norm, you didn't use an emote, but rather, utilize motion, which was really unexpected in the first week.

Judge 03 - Both of you really shined in the first week, Arala, although you did kinda fall into the Chinese New Year type deal, I still feel that you captured the celebrative and joyous mood that you should've. Both of you really did well though, both used props, both really stood out definitely.


Week 02 - Once Upon A Time

Judge 01 - Hats off to both of you, you both really nailed the shoot, from looks, to detailing, to just everything. I really liked how you both managed to grasp the character's characteristics well.

Judge 02 - Szei has the stronger picture, she captured everything flawlessly and manage to invoke a mood in the picture which Arala did not.

Judge 03 - I think both of you nailed the picture, both have great detailing, Szei, the runned down background was great, and Arala, the whole "bunny" character was great. I do think that Szei has the stronger shot, aside from the aura, it would make for an amazing movie poster.

Week 03 - Lights, Cameras, Action

Judge 01 - This was my favorite week, both of you did fantasic, but Szei's picture really takes the cake, you really blew everyone away with that shot.

Judge 02 - I actually prefer Arala's picture, the background was more clean cut compared to Szei's. Both shots are really strong, but Arala's shot is really like a still from a movie.

Judge 03 - Arala's shot is more theatrics while Szei's shot is more dynamic. Szei obviously fulfills the assignment details better than Arala, so because of that, I'm more leniant towards Szei's picture for this week.


Week 04 - Tyria's Next Top Mama

Judge 01 - Both great pictures, both manages to show different moods, Arala's more sensitive while Szei's is more playful.

Judge 02 - Arala I think has more of that genuine motherly feeling that Szei's picture doesn't display for me.

Judge 03 - The proportions in Arala's picture still irks me, as well as the story, the eyes don't connect to the same object. Szei's picture on the other hand captivates what she wanted to tell.


Week 05 - Summer Catalog Spread

Judge 01 - Arala was the star for this week, your pictures we're perfection, from the proper display and mix of armor to the great background and posing choices. I was thrilled to see that you mixed armor pieces from different sets, one thing about fashion is you will never see something on the runway exactly as is when it hits retail. Arala nails it hands down.

Judge 02 - Arala was definitely the strongest this week, but I think it would've been better if you shown some summer sandals for your beach girl look. Szei to me, made the mistake of not being consistant of the backgrounds, although you want variety, catalog shoots are always suppose to tell a story. Like I'm out with my girlfriends to the beach and I'm wearing beautiful clothes having a fabulous time, buy them and you could do the same, something to that sort. And Szei's pictures doesn't have that connection, it doesn't tell me a story behind the picture.

Judge 03 - Arala does have a stronger fashion spread over Szei, as mentioned, the story behind the fashion collection in Arala's pictures just made it stronger.


Week 06 - Seven Deadly Sins

Judge 01 - Everyone really did well this week, it was absolutely dreadful to deliberate. However, Szei does make the stronger appeal to her sin over Arala.

Judge 02 - Arala's picture is visually more appealing, however Szei does capture the sin more properly than Arala. The body language in Szei's shot wreaks of mean girls.

Judge 03 - Szei's shot more suited for the assignment, Arala's shot more suited for fashion. Szei takes it for me, I just cannot get any hint of gluttony in Arala's shot at all.


Week 07 - Inspiration

Judge 01 - Arala's shot wins for this week, you took the male modeling assignment from last cycle, made it into a conceptual picture following the theme of Yin and Yang. You gave more of your own twist to the picture than Szei.

Judge 02 - I agree, Arala gave more of twist in her picture, whereas Szei's picture looked more of a copy with a differen't pose.

Judge 03 - I really feel that Arala could've done a better pose to indicate Yin and Yang. The pose was recycled, I mean, it really isn't hard to synch with another character of the same profession to pull off something more different. It's not bad, but variety and range is key for this competition.


Week 08 - Land Of Heroes

Judge 01 - I find Arala's shot more heroic, more serious, while Szei's shot is more fun and playful.

Judge 02 - Arala's shot is more sunspenseful, again very much like a movie still. Szei, not serious enough for the hero aspect of the shoot.

Judge 03 - Arala has more of the heroism, climactic mood, while Szei has a more relaxedfeel in her shot. All in all, Arala does have it for the assignment theme, very Indiana Jones indeed.


Week 09 - Sunspears Spokesmodel

Judge 01 - Both very strong pictures in this shot, picture wise, Szei has the better one, I like the ferocity and the intensity in it.

Judge 02 - Arala's catchphrase and overall presentation had the bigger impression. Szei's picture is strong, but the catchphrase wasn't as strong as Arala's.

Judge 03 - I really do find Arala's presentation to be the strongest, the subtle composure of the pose and the cheesey, fun catchphrase jingle really worked together well to produe a good ad campaign.


Week 10 - Finale

Since I was the one conducting the shot, only I will give the evaluation for this assignment...

Arala Starsong - I admired the fact that you we're really looking for a way to compensate for the height difference, you moved around and tried to position yourself to dilute the difference size proportions, so that was good, but in doing so, I don't think you took much notice to how the picture would come out. Posing with another person doesn't have to mean being all up with them, one could be back in the background while the other up in front which was what I was really looking for you to do, like an album cover or something to that sort.

Szei Ren - I liked how you really weren't afraid to take charge to get what you want, it took some pushing, but once we got the ball rolling, you we're ready to take charge. You requested for me to dye my armor, you really work towards what you wanted to achieve and that was great. I find the picture very ethereal, and for once, I think the aura works.
